  1. Precisely. Principles that come across like a square tire. But, hey! We're at 33 pages. Only 6 more, and we'll be on the cusp of the magic 40. I have bought short $600 million in stocks, so I need the Dow to sink to 4,000 to become the richest man on earth. Help me get there, won't you?
  2. Sure. I'm not sure when I'll be doing it again, though. We haven't seen many problems with V11 clutches.
  3. As I've already pointed out, I'm just doing my part to ensure that we achieve the bloviation quotient (BQ) to which this thread aspires. And to get it to 40 pages. Both are thankless tasks. One wonders, though, how milage improves when one cobbles up a mixture control that when used dumps in extra fuel.
  4. DO your bars have a big hex plug that screws into them? O were the bar-ends attached to a longish insert that's part rubber?
  5. I well remember passing through Houston, BC, last time. I expected to see a sign for MPH at every intersection but was disappointed. We'll let you know when we are passing through.
  6. What's the part number of the TMs you bought. Most fit only specific years of Guzzis.
  7. See the size of the contact patch available when you run square wheels? Dunlop assures me we'll be able to run cornering forces of 3g, or possibly more. Valentino Rossi's heard the hype and is about to sign on . . . catch the wave, boys . . .
  8. It's pretty easy to get to the clutch on a V11. Put a jack under the motor, remove the front subframe. Unbolt the trans from the engine, and pull the engine forward and turn sideways. The clutch is right there. There are fiber plates for the RAM that last longer. I've had one in my Eldo (but not on a RAM assembly) for 3.5 years and a bazillion hard miles.
  9. Excellent! The response to this'll surely get us a few more pages toward the magic 40. By then, I'll have my patented square wheels ready for market, and Dunlop has promised a simultaneous introduction of matching tires. Get ready for a whole new standard of riding pleasure . . .
  10. Plate's most likely worn out. As the plate wears, the rod walks backward. How many miles on the RAM? Many wear out in the 6,000-8,000-mile range. Did it have a bronze plate?
  11. Just an idea: FOr a front, look into the Marchesini from a Griso 1200 or Sport 1200.
  12. Yes. AM I not the puppetmaster? The BQ curve is tending toward vertical . . .
  13. There is no problem that cannot be solved by thermal inertia. Enquiring minds know this to be fact . . .
  14. I am a huge fan of excellence and just want to make sure that this thread achieves the lofty Bloviation Quotient (BQ) to which it aspires . . .
  15. Nine more pages, boys. You can do it . . .
  16. Yes, a rare man, indeed. Good on you, Todd.
  17. Do not confuse the rabble with facts. It's not cricket, what?
  18. Erg. When the hydro-EV cams were failing, they'd ruin the oil pump, too, in many cases, since the pump gets unfiltered oil. In really bad cases (enough schrapnel to clog the filter), or on bikes that were ridden cold a lot (cold oil often means the filter is in bypass mode) the rod bearings were ruined and the sludge trap was full of metal. If that were my bike, I'd be pulling the crank and cleaning the trap and looking at the main bearings. The front main bearing is only sold as part of the crankcase, so you want to make sure it is undamaged while the bike is still under warranty. If it has metal embedded in it, make them replace the whole engine.
  19. Kitty: Is the crack on the tranny case or the mounting plate? If the latter, unbolt it from the frame and from the trans case, remove it, weld it, and re-install it. I'm glad it finally got there . . .
  20. I'd try methane first.
  21. Weld the plate. Look for other damage, as a crack there is almost always the result of a fairly serious wreck.
  22. And here I thought you boys were starting to run out of steam. Yes, by all means find out which particular gas works best inside the sensor holder on your particular machine. That'll get us to 40 pages for sure . . .
  23. The airbox and filter on that thing are bigger than on an Aprilia Mille. I'm not at all certain they are the root of the problem.
  24. Both pumps take in unfiltered oil. One then pushes it to and through the filter.
  25. If the valve gear has grenaded, schrapnel will have been circulated through the engine. Insist that they inspect your oil pump and at leastthe rod bearings.
