You may be right. I may try what you suggest if I take it back to the dyno. I just scored a set of Ti pipes, so I may have to do some remapping.
-
No. I believe they were used. Some continue to allow themselves to be used.

I don't believe it's the military that's controlled by corporate interests, but the can be. Once that's effected, the military becomes controlled by those corporations. Ask any country in Central America. Our military has steamrolled just about all of them at one time or another at the beheast of a corporation. As for the attack on the US, I do not recall any Iraqis in the mix. I do recall the current bandits claiming there was a link. I do not believe them. Lots of Saudis were in the mix, though, but instead of attacking them, we spend all our money and military might defending them and their oil export machinery. Face it: The attack on Iraq was nothing more than payback for Saddam having tried to kill Poppy. I've looked at all the evidence available and balanced it, and I think it's an honest and almost certainly correct conclusion. I see the current bandits's spin machine is now pinned at full throttle about the sins of Iran. I am a strident critic of the Mullah-ocracy of Iran. I don't trust them. SO, I'm in the odd position of not knowing who is the most egregious set of liars: my own government or the mullahs. This is the biggest crime the current bandits have perpetuated.

Ratch: We have been lied to so much by the bandits who currently occupy the White House that I can never again believe anything they say or any story they plant. They tell me that suddenly we are winning. Maybe we are and maybe we aren't, but if they say it or the story is based on something they said or some special access they gave, I don't believe it. Their credibility is dead in my eyes. I didn't kill it; they did, so don't blame me or tell me I'm being foolish. I voted for these bandits the first time. I feel foolish for that, while at the same time knowing that Gore may well have been an even worse president than the goobster has proven to be. Ryland: I am willing to discuss what I would do, but let's do it elsewhere, OK? Jaap might appreciate such consideration.

Seems apropos in this thread, so I'm posting the dyno charts here, too. This one is the chart after mapping the PC III. Configuration is '04 Ballabio with Mistral cans and crossover and airbox cut per Phil A.'s earlier recommendations, using round holes. If there's a torque dip, the chart appears not to show it. This one's an imperfect comparison of the mapped configuration used on the first chart with nothing else changed except that I swapped on a BMC filter and fastened it with an airbox top that was completely cut away save for the rim. Surprising to me was how much more midrange torque it made with the BMC but that the paper filter produced more peak power. Both are contrary to what I would have expected.

I hope you will give me the benefit of the doubt, in that I do believe there's a war going on between ideologies, those of the liberal west and of fundamentalist mooselumbism. I hope you will also recognize that there is more than one way in which a war can be fought. That said, I believe the way we are currently fighting it plays into the hand of the enemy and ensures his ultimate victory. I would choose to fight, but in a way I think makes victory possible. That requires a change of course. Some would say that makes me non-patriotic, blah, blah, blah. It isn't true. Staying a losing course is unpatriotic, in my opinion.

OK, at long last, the charts: This one is the chart after mapping the PC III. Loosen up a little, Ratch; the "Jizzus wept" is just non sequitur ad absurdum. It sometimes is effective in snapping folks out of target fixation . . . sometimes.
-
Randy: I have a 6000-mile stocker you're free to use for as long as you like, or to buy.

You probably know this, but a switch can test OK on a DVM but then fail under load.
-
OK. We are closed Sunday and Monday, though. Will be in the office on Tuesday.

Bad relay and maybe a bad clutch switch. Repairing the broken fitting requires replacing the entire pump.

I'll contact the guy and ask more questions, or maybe even ask him to join in here, so you can ask your own. One other thing I remember from our conversation was that his mileage dropped from 40 mpg to 30 mpg on ethanol. He's not a very confrontational sort of guy, so if he comes, stick to technical stuff.

Dave does most of it. We all contribute where and when we can. The book gets updated frequently. Sometimes monthly, whenever we find something new. Much of it we learn in the course of looking up parts for customers. Parts diagrams are a great source for learning about changes to the machines, and piggio seem to keep these diagrams up to date. It's about all they do right, in my opinion. Guzziology is worth ten times its price, but I can knock of 10 percent for any V11 LM Forum members who want one. Email me at work, parts@motointernational.com.

So is it correct that igintion timing is the same for both?

does your Guzzi remind you of a plane?

Not just at Reno; Cleveland, for the Thompson Trophy. I trust you know who Cook Cleland is, yes? He told me a great story of how he got his planes. This is one of them . . . -
Does anyone here have any data on what's different in the mapping and timing of the Ti-kit ECU vs. the stocker?
-
Well, just FWIW, I think the manual is wrong and that Guzzi has things set up for different tuning between the bikes with front crossover and without. They just F-ed up in not doing an update. That manual is full of such F-ups. The ECUs supplied with the Ti kits are different for each, after all. Plus, Guzi is very specific in the differences for setup between the two. Given that, I think it extremely unwise to ignore the difference when designing your procedure. I can understand the desire to have "one procedure," but I think the reality is that there isn't just one.

DK: If you ride up to Seattle, I'll take you to the Boeing museum. They have an F2G, but even better, they have a cutaway R-4360 corncob radial that's hooked up to an electric motor that spins all the works. I could watch that for hours . . . The camshafts are on the flywheels, of all places. My house is a mile from the museum, an you (and anyone else) have (has) a standing invite to stay here. -
I think I need one. Anyone want my Billy Bob?
-
Sounds like you were talking to the self-important young kid of the shop. Those adjustments were put there for a reason . . .
-
I was just reading the instructions included with the Guzzi Ti pipes. They specify different tuning for the bikes with the front crossover and the bikes without the crossover. Fr the non-crossover bikes, it says set the TPS to 3.8 degrees +/- 0.1 degree, which it says corresponds to 550 mV +/- 5mV. For the crossover bikes it says set the TPS to 2.9 degrees +/- 0.1 degree, which it says corresponds to 465 mV +/- 5mV. Perhaps this difference is meaningful and needs to be taken into account in the procedure set forth in this thread?

You could use 5mm washers between the fairing and upper mounts to tilt it up a few degrees. Another option is a Laminar Lip, which is an add-on shield extension. I have one on my Ballabio fairing. It works well. When I get to the shop I can take one out to the Rosso we have in for repair and see if it works with that fairing.
