  1. Now the Tenni is up to 68,800 km / 42,750 miles I notice the "sweet spot" seems to have moved from about 3750 rpm to just under 5000 rpm. maybe what they say about Guzzis taking a long time to break in has some merit
  2. Lots of pictures of that road over on Pashnit.com If you post a query over there, I'm sure you'll get some knowledgeable responses
  3. Last Fall, the Spanish magazine SoloMoto also reported on a possible sport bike called the Monza... someone seems to be fanning these flames that keep popping up
  4. yes...very nice pictures and I very much enjoyed the maps I notice you have commentary written in the maps. surely you didn't spend hours drawing the topography of the Irish coast, then painstakingly coloring it in... or did you? anyways, nice work!

    France - May '08

Dang...I miss all the good stuff I don't arrive until May 5 I wouldn't mind seeing the football match either!
  6. I'll be riding from Parma, Italy to the Bretagne region next month. Hope to cross paths with any other Guzzisti who happen to be in the area
  7. It's become my favorite sport touring watch I wore it last summer while on tour and found that the big black dial with white numbers made it easy to read while on the move. Plus, it keeps good time Thanks Jens
  8. Since 2002, I've ridden my V11 from Sicily to Norway and from Portugal to within 100km of the Black Sea. 60,000Km / 37,250 miles so far and still lovin it See the Travel Section for some of my trip reports
  9. When I was younger, in my Kenny Roberts wannabe phase, the only Guzzi I was ever attracted to was the old Le Mans. The rest of the Guzzi range just seemed funky & quirky like something out of a time warp. Then the V11 Le Mans came out and I was immediately struck at how it kinda resembled the old Ducati SS750 (if you squint yer eyes really hard). It may have been a case of growing older and more nostalgic, remembering the motorcycles of my youth in the 1970s. I bought my Tenni (my first Guzzi) at the age of 42. After I bought it, I appreciated its extra dollop of character. I think what I really enjoy the most, is being able to ride it closer to its limits, than say I would be able to on a Suzuki GSXR or some other uber bike
  10. I'd settle for a sport-tourer My V11 makes a decent sport tourer, so I'm happy for the time being. I hope they have something sporty to offer when the time comes to replace it.
  11. I read that there was a good Guzzi shop in Ramsey. They aren't any help?
  12. That's what I was thinking. I doubt there would be a Harley or anything else available for rent in the entire state. Even renting a car might be difficult. You might try flying into Orlando and renting a car there. Next best might be Tampa. If you're a baseball fan, you might look into spring training games. I went about 20 years ago and saw the Pirates play in a small stadium reminiscent of a small Wrigley Field. With the big business baseball has become though, I suspect most teams have moved to big, fancy, characterless ball parks.
  13. The short track races are worth a looky-loo...if they still have them. Used to hold them west of the speedway on Thursday night or something.

    Guareschi

lol yes...there was an incident in Sardinia thankfully, the headlight was all that was damaged, besides my pride.

    Guareschi

I spoke to him in October and asked him about Daytona. He just shrugged his shoulders and said it all depended on whether Moto Guzzi decided to pay for the trip. By his demeanor, I took it that he wasn't holding his breath As is the case with most things Guzzi, anything can happen. I also asked him about the Isle of Man and he just laughed
  16. just idle curiosity here but... say a large group of individuals arrived at your home during the TT fortnight...how many individuals would said home be capable of supporting? Keep in mind, said individuals brought their own beer. purely a hypothetical event.
  17. Now that's the way to hijack a thread
  18. Hey, this is Jaap's home. Who among us has never gotten fed up? I took the e-mail personally for about 2 seconds before realizing it wuzn't directed at me Keep up the good work, Jaap
  19. My take on the coming season is that, if Honda doesn't bounce back with smoke coming out of their ears and all guns blazing, it's a sure sign that, Soichiro has in fact died, and corporate Honda's interests lie elsewhere (i.e. car manufacturing and/or lear jets).
  20. I didn't know about the place Daniel mentioned, so I ended up staying at a place about 15 kilometers north in Varenna, right next to the ferry landing. It was run by a nice lady who must have spoken 6 languages. A bit of a funny story, right after I bought my Guzzi, I happened to be in Mandello in time for my first oil change. So naturally, I pulled up to the factory gate and announced to the old gate keeper/security guard that I was there for my oil change. The old man adorned me with a look that roughly translated to "what wagon did you fall off of" He then directed me to Agostinis around the corner The factory museum is only open some odd hours, like from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. I don't think they have factory tours unless pre-arranged by a group or during Guzzi Days in September.
  21. I like photobucket cuz even a simpleton like me can sort it out

    Belstaff Jackets

I guess it sounds like fashionista stuff then. I should have known from the looks of the rest of their line...sunglasses and whatnot. Maybe one of you oldtimers can clue me in on this waxed cotton... Do you need to apply a new coat of wax every so often to keep it waterproof? (supposedly)
  23. A couple of years ago, an Italian fashion house bought the rights to the Belstaff name, and I figured that was the end of that. I just looked at the new Belstaff web site, and wow! They issued a retro line of jackets and they look pretty good. They have a "Sammy Miller Replica" made of wax cotton just like the old trailmaster. I'm still not sure if this is considered serious biker kit or if it's just fashionista stuff. Anyone in the UK know about the new Belstaff kit? Is it real riding kit?
  24. Here's an interesting article on the Led Zeppelin plagiarism debate.
