They have a live album titled,"We've Gotta Live One Here" suitably enough. It was recorded somewhere in England and the crowd loves them. They might have been the original rockabilly act.

Rhencullen was a great place but, I heard they closed that area off to spectators The Gooseneck...you can watch some of the racers fishtail out of the corner & see the spectators on the grassy verge dive for cover Bray Hill & Ballaugh Bridge never fail to please. I'm sure more of the experienced spectators will pitch in with "secret" viewing areas. I stopped at a crossing before Ballaugh bridge where the only spectators were me and the senior citizen marshall. It was a long straight. From a distance, you could hear a racer approaching at "full chat". After about 20 seconds, he ZOOMED by. 20 seconds later he was out of earshot. For the entire time he was withing hearing distance, his throttle had been held at "full chat". I turned to look at the marshall and he just grinned. Get a good map of the Isle. Once the racing starts, you may be trapped inside or outside the course. This doesn't mean you can't move around from viewing area to viewing area. It's a great racing atmosphere but with the loads of squids on the roads between races...next time I might go to the Manx GP.

there was an ad recently for Swiss Army winterwear that featured a fashionable young couple on a 1980's era red Guzzi Le Mans to match the red Swiss Army products. Too bad no Guzzi owners are fashionably young

I had a Pirelli Diablo rear tire last summer. I put on 6,200 miles / 10,000 kilometers on it, all of them touring miles. The cord was showing by the time I got to a shop for a new one. This was a Pirelli Diablo bought in Italy and I wouldn't know if they differ from Pirellis available in the U.S.

It was a small North Dakota town. Like Mayberry...Otis would let himself into the drunk tank at night
-
I thought Doug Polen was slated to race an MGS-01. Whatever happened to that?
-
Here is the original post by Guzzirider that mentions a possible foray into Norway. I believe Martin also feigned interest

I was 18 so, I already knew all there was to know Late one afternoon, I stopped by a friend's house for a chat. Had a couple beers, etc. By the time I was ready to leave for home, the sun had gone down....and me with a dark shield on my Bell Star Not to worry, it was just a 5 minute ride to the house. Riding through a residential area, I could see streetlights receding into the distance. Streetlights = a roadway, I reasoned. Suddenly, through my dark shield, I detected that the road surface was no longer paved. A second later, my brilliant powers of perception noticed that the road surface was now going downhill at a sharp angle. A few moments later, I was going airborne over the handlebars. Performing a midair manouver that would have made any Romanian gymnastics coach proud, I proceeded plant myself helmet first into a muddy river bottom. Fortunately for me, the mud had cushioned my impact. I turned back to see my bike, still perfectly upright, the front wheel planted in mud up to its axle. The streetlights I had noticed before were on the other side of the river! I spent the next three hours extricating the bike from the mud then trying to push it up the short slope. I would push mightily only to get the front wheel inches from the top before sliding back down into the muck. Finally, exhausted and defeated, I abandoned the bike and walked back home. What had been a 5 minute ride turned into a 6 hour ordeal. The next day a friend with a pickup helped me tow the beast back up to the street.

So...I'm considering putting off my Norway plans for a year since others have mentioned they might ride to Norway in 2007. Is this still under consideration? say June-ish 2007?
-
Well, I had planned on riding Norway this June but seeing as some of you have mentioned going to Norway next year...maybe I should put it off and join the lot of you in Ireland this year and trying to arrange to ride Norway with you next year.

I think all the "driver's aids" in F1 along with the cookie cutter variety of race tracks these days have robbed it of its former self. The cars circulate as if by remote control. Here's a link to the famous last lap battle between Gilles Villeneuve in the Ferrari and Rene Arnoux in the twin turbo Renault at the 1979 French Grand Prix. Now that's racing There should be no doubt after watching that race that Villeneuve was a racer's racer. A bit mad perhaps but a racer never the less

I just read it for the first time. dunno how I missed it the first time around... well done! Now I see that your jaunt to meet us in North Wales was but a walk in the park!
-
How did I miss this thread? Congrats Martin! You da man!

I thought that was the whole point as in,"honey, I'm just popping out to check the air in the tyres".... ...6 hours later I can almost hear the Bad Company blaring from the stereo

California Highway 1 is the Holy Grail....don't let anyone tell you any differently. Especially the section from San Francisco to Legget. Nowhere else on the planet is there a combination of curves, scenery & weather. Everyone should ride Highway 1 at least once in their lifetime. The Holy Trinity: The Alps The Isle of Man TT California Highway 1 (ok and maybe flashing your lights and passing a Porsche on the Autobahn)

Who cares about medal counts anyone have pictures of the Swedish women's ski team? or Danish...or German...or
-
I'll agree with that. I went to the '02 TT and while the racing was everything I expected it to be and the party atmosphere was great, I was a bit put off by some of the squidly (yobbish?) riding I witnessed. I also saw 5 or 6 wadded up bikes left abandoned on the roadside including one that probably produced a fatality if not serious injuries. I think I'll take Baldini's advice and try the Manx TT next time

In my opinion, Vale should have made the switch this year. Time is running out on him. Sir John Surtees made the switch at age 26, Vale's current age.

I still don't know how those V11 Sport guys snuck in here. This is a V11 Le Mans site!

OK...I had to go look up opprobrium yup! that about sums it up!

So, it looks as if the May dates cut too close to the Scottish Rally. It would be embarrassing if an unofficial ride outdrew an organized meet April is no good for Martin. So it appears March is the most amenable. If I'm going to be a biker in Blighty, I need to toughen up and get used to riding in rough conditions We can do like last time...wait and see what the weather forecast looks like on Monday and pick the day with the best conditions. Any thoughts on a 2 day ride or just play it by ear? btw...I'm still "thoroughly chuffed" about the last Welsh Waltz Those were some of the best roads and company I've ridden with in some time!
