    Sport

I used to cycle regularly when I resided in northern California. Mountain biking actually. We regarded road cyclists as something akin to effeminate nancy boys Unfortunately, since moving to Saudi, my cycling has decreased substantially and my lardage has increased exponentially I also had a 16' Hobie Cat for a while. That too fell by the wayside when I moved to Saudi

    Nogbad's new Buell

That's all well & good but... if you're going to have any cachet amongst the rabble, only black & orange will suffice
  4. Thanks! I'm fascinated by all that kinda stuff. So then...were the Saxons also descendants of Vikings? If so, then the Saxon Vikings were conquered by the Norman Vikings who were really French who... it's all very confusing.
  5. Nice pics how cold is "didn't seem to be overly cold"? any idea on the age of the obelisk? From before the Norman invasion? The Normans were French, weren't they? wouldn't that make you lot French? (running for cover)
  6. I noticed that whenever UFO, the uber-administrator is online, it goes wonky so, maybe he's been tweaking the system.

    Welsh Waltz II

Is there any interest in a North Wales ride this spring? Last I heard, people were talking about a 2 day ride. Unfortunately, because of my work schedule, weekends aren't an option. I would arrive in the UK on a Monday and depart on the following Saturday. However, should the majority decide on a weekend, so be it These are the dates I have available: March 20 - 24 April 10 - 14 May 1 - 5

it's gotta be Harley racing black & orange
  9. That's a tough one. I've never ridden or driven in Paris but I can imagine it wouldn't be too much fun in a car. On the other hand, it would be nice to have a car once you get to where you're going. I'm leaning towards the train. Big city traffic is no fun, especially in a car.

    1st impressions-WOW

when I announced I was gonna buy a Guzzi...even an Italian friend of mine said,"WHY"?!
  12. stoopid question.... aren't 1000 rounds per minute enough?
  13. I've left my Tenni stock since it is in Europe and I am in Saudi Whenever I get to Europe, I ride so...no time to tinker. Fortunately, the riding position seems to fit me since I have long-ish arms. re: B.C. weather...my father was born in Nanaimo and grew up in Vancouver. We used to go back to B.C. on summer vacations when the weather is usually great. I would have loved to live there and I remember asking my dad why he didn't move back to B.C. His stock reply was that,"it always rained there."
  14. I'd have to agree with the circus description. I went to the '02 TT. The racing was fantastic to watch and getting to ride the circuit was very special... however, it was tempered by the excess of squidly riding I witnessed. It's normal in the UK to filter through traffic along the center line however, at the TT there is so much two wheeled traffic that the center "filtering" lane backs up quite a ways. Naturally, some brainiac decides that, he is going to filter past the filterers:rolleyes: He then encounters 4 wheeled traffic coming the opposite way bringing traffic in both directions to a stop This does nothing to endear TT crowds to the local populace. I talked to some locals who say they go into hibernation during the TT fortnight just to avoid the banzai-ing motorcyclist traffic. I also came upon several wadded up bikes during my visit. One that looked like it may have involved fatalities (appeared to be a head on collision). While I'm glad I finally got to attend a TT, my desire to return is tempered by the squidly riding I witnessed.

    moving to OZ

This thread has piqued my interest since 2 members from British Columbia have expressed a desire to leave what many consider one of the most beautiful places on the planet. It hits close to home since my father left Vancouver in 1950 and never returned to live there. We did take annual summer vacations to B.C. which I greatly enjoyed. Sorry for the thread hijack.
  16. The "Dr. John" bike sits in the entry area to the Moto Guzzi museum in Mandello. That may be telling about how proud they are of the bike

ahh!...but you fail to take into account the "venturi effect" created by the large rear which in turn creates a vaccum effect on exhaust gasses, thus reducing the load on the valves. This equates to another 2.5 mph for a net gain of 0.5 mph.

whut'chew tawkin' bout Willis? :!: This boosts top speed figures as the slimmer profile "slices" through the air. I reckon it's good for at least 3 mph to be honest though...Moto Guareschi set it up that way. Who am I to question Italians? Though...now that you mention it.... They never looked backwards until you mentioned it!
  19. BIKE magazine had an interesting article about Yamaha's decision to make Rossi's bike with a reverse rotation crank. The article claimed the reverse crank reduced gyroscopic effect of the wheels, making the Yamaha easier to flick through the esses. Dunno how they quantify that Probably when Rossi comes back to the pits and says,"dat'sa about-ah rye-eet."

Lots of interesting replies. Thanks to all for their input
  21. whut is soap & deodorant? we usually take the baking soda from the fridge and dab some behind our ears
  22. ok...I'm wonderin' if this is one of them there delayed insults. you know...the ones where you're not really sure what he means... then, hours later while you're in the shower, you think to yourself,"HEY! I think I've been insulted!"
  23. Yah! Ya know, when I was a kid, a year lasted for like 5 years(maybe it was all that homework). when I was in my 20's & 30's...a year lasted about a year. Then...one minute I'm 36....3 months later...I'm 46!! Hold on! What just happened?! I want a re-play! Heck...at this rate, I'll be dead in a couple of months!

    Gyroscopic Effect

I'm of a same mind. I have noticed it on my old FJ 1100...not the Guzzi. which leads to my next question... Do Guzzis get any benefits over inline 4's when negotiating S-turns? I'd guess not due to the long wheelbase.

    Gyroscopic Effect

lol I've read those biplanes are tricky to fly. Heard that if you apply a little too much throttle on take off, the right wing dips into the ground with less than desirable results
