yeah my lower back and tailbone took a beating on my suzuki cruiser I had, I LOVE the rocket 3 as a possible option, but I heard mixed reviews on it and I feel like I would get into more trouble with IT than the RSVR. I'm in no hurry and don't know what to do, I also don't want to go bland, I wish KTM or triumph had a better offering for me as the thunderbird 1600 is meh, its liq cooled and feels wrong for the side-by-side, I guess my main criteria is to NOT get sprayed with water if I get into a sprinkle and not put too much on my lower back, part of that problem is I deliver kegs and beer for a living so I have pretty solid muscle to hold myself up on a sport bike but I am assuming mildly strained joints and discs so sitting back too far on a cruiser with shotty suspension hurts like hell. I'm sure a more upright harley with upgraded suspension would be alright but I don't want to spend 20k on a bike either, maybe used but ppl think HD's are worth more than they really are. Same goes for BMW but the 1150's have dropped a lot because of the new models. I would think ideally in my mind a KTM with a rotax motor in a triumph tiger-KLR style bike with hard utilitarian hard bags would be my ideal, hand guards with heated grips too would be even sweeter, but they make no such thing.

GOD DAMN IT, I wanted to get a buell, at some point, now I think I will, this is sad.
-
is it just electronic snake oil? does it really make a battery last longer, I would think 5 years is plenty without even having a battery tender until now I got a delvic 2 bank tender but does the mattery minder really make the battery better or last longer?

Beaten senseless by the ugly stick

have you seen this? WTF -
ALRIGHT ALRIGHT I got the hint, would be better if I got a bagged and larger screened Breva then for first choice, norge second choice but I find it kinda uggo in a diff way than I find the third choice of the R1150r uggo, its kinda grown on me and the 4th would be a ulysses with the rider comfort kit the things are dirt cheap for parts and service and possibly easier to work on than a guzzi. But there is still time for me to change my mind 27 times
-
LOL something like that would be awesome but then even a bigger problem with support and I'm not a good enough wrench or fabricator to own something that old, maybe some day hell if one fell in my lap I'd take it
-
umm well yes they both are BUT the difference is aftermarket and dealer support BMW is way ahead on that one. I'd like something easy to live with and maintain and get stuff for.
-
I will defiantly keep the norge in mind I do like them overall but I find the front ugly BUT when riding it who cares, the buell gets a second chance because they are dirt cheap used and if they have a heat redirect kit then it would be rideable seriouslly the thing would melt your leg after 10min it was insane to me. I would love to stay guzzi if I could but I hate tough to deal with parts and no dealers BMW has no soul but they have the support. Breva was also SUPER comfy when I sat on it at the bike show but it looks so boring, one of those with a good screen and bags would work well too.
-
well yea its a good thing for driving in the metro area but anything outside of toolin around town it is even less comfortable than the aprilia with zero wind protection vibey ride and engine braking stronger than the rear brembo it gets tiring on a longer ride I've done a 2 hour ride on the guzzi and a 4 hour ride was easier on my aprilia and its a supersport!!! so for touring in comfort and ease it seems natural that BMW is one of the best and honda makes some good offerings as well unless I want to go straight up cruiser harley-esq then its harder on my back and I don't like that but I won't rule them out either, more test rides are in order
-
you sir have a winner, I think that fits all the bills closer to anything else I've found plus goes along with my personal tastes of more nekkid and mechanical watch like yet offers decent protection and great riding position I'm going to try and find this one when I have the dough ready UNLESS I change my mind again and get something really stupid
-
I'm REALLY liking the 1150RT's as they are much cheaper and many say more reliable than the 1200's I saw a bunch with about 20k on them for about 8-9k that aint shabby
-
don't get me wrong either I was just being sarcastic and I actually love this advice, it has been really helpful and I trust and respect almost all of your opinions especially since you've been riding so loooong I think of BMW first because they used to be known as uber reliable and have good dealer and parts support plus are mostly easy to work on, I also think my guzzi and aprilia are a blast to ride I just did a 700 mi trip over 2 days on the aprilia RSVR and it was actually really good except for the tank range my only dislike was the heat after a couple hours on it was too much and I was leaning too far fwd for that long of a ride but up side is my legs and back felt fine
-
I'm 6'3" there buddy so leg room is somewhat of a concern and yes I hear BMW's are expensive but a few year old regular 1200GS with about 15-20k on the clock is right around 10k which is the high side of what I could afford for such a bike, BUT a valkyrie is about 5-7k but I have yet to see a decent one with under 30k on the clock and most have 50k+ so they must be a nice ride. I also like the RT and LT, RT more than LT but they're both uber expensive, the thing is with soooooo many ppl buying the GS and realizing THEY DONT adv tour on it I'm sure tons have buyers remorse plus initial price point is super high the standard gs doesn't seem to hold its value quite as well as the RT or LT. I'll probably end up with a valkyrie or victory v92 for the better price point and just get a better cushy seat with a backrest to help with that.
-
I'm going to have to test ride a regular GS, I test rode the gs Adv. and was not impressed it was too bulbous, tall, and the seat was terrible, comparing the two they have different seats and obviouslly body work so I bet I would like the regular 1200gs a lot better, part of this mile eater would be ability to cope with adverse weather conditions, wish they had a better rep and reliability. I also wish the stelvio was a tad more affordable for me and had at least one dealer within 2 hours drive. funny side note is I almost bought a sprint ST when I was looking at the guzzi, I was at the dealer to test ride the sprint but went home with the Guzzi I'm also prejudice against kawasaki and yamaha but I find honda to be appealing with their 800vfr looking like a good one or just that valkyrie.
-
well yea, thats exactly the kind of feedback I need though, I do want a bike I can go long distances on in comfort, the one cruiser I had, I HATED it for anything over 20mi, its was a suzuki cruiser and was just not comfortable at all, I think I need a bike more like the 1200gt or lt or the like, I noticed one of the oilhead touring bikes they make has flip out highway pegs which would be perfect I think that black strip flips out on the LT bike but then these are like goldwings and none the cheaper I really like this bike also but the damn thing is $20k and massive with uninspiring handling in my mind this bike would be about perfect to me if it didn't want to MELT your legs when I test drove it. I wonder if there is a easy fix for that one problem
-
touring bike to just eat up miles with wind protection and some type of storage? comfortable and reliable and relatively inexpensive? I've looked at BMW 1200's, buell ulysses, victory v92's and vegas, hardlys, triumph bonne's and rock3's, I would like something more mainstream for dealer parts and general ease of owning, this bike would be something I just don't care about personally like my ape or goose but love to ride. the bike doesn't have to break the record books on speed or power just be smooth and strong, good exhaust note is a plus. I've thought of maybe a Valkyrie as they're a honda but also unique, I've thought about a guzzi cruiser but I worry the leg room isn't there or any dealer support. I'm kind of stumped the front runners are a victory v92, a honda valkyrie or close behind a bmw 1200c, all with bags and windscreen. I really like the victory vision but its almost as much as a goldwing which is the same for the BMW section like the 1200LT or GS. I'm finicky and persnickety so if someone could throw out some insight I bet there are a lot of veteran riders that know much more than I when it comes to decisions like this. Maybe if I found the right guzzi cruiser and also a way I would be able to stretch my legs from time to time I could make it work.

you ever get divorced and she's MINE
-
I wish they had dealer support here, I can't find myself buying one with all the fancy computer crap and more complex motor yet no one to work on it but myself, just can't do it, sad, I really want one.
-
alright unless you want this thing deleted for lack of indecency I'm going to need a new one Much Larger and the girl to wear an outfit to better match the bike, v11 sport naked
-
how did you know I'm left handed? btw if you're ever in the twin cities I'll let you ride mine

yea WTF just go with a cheaper dash, cheaper wheels, cheaper exhaust and offer the termi as an upgrade and shave off on a few other bits hell cheaper suspension and ohlins as an upgraded package to save $$ and get it into the hands of the consumers, I would have got one instead of my aprilia, love the aprilia but I would have got the MGS -
hush now, twitaker is keeping this thread almost single handedly alive, with mucho praise I might add

I agree, BUT I love the one umm, was it guzzirider? guzbun? I forget who, someone in the UK who fitted high intensity lights inside the ram air screen and tiny led turn signals front and rear. Love to own THAT bike. -
