this isn't anything new is it? I thought hte 1200 sport had been around for a good while and is basically a new engined breva with a bakini fairing, no?

so normally I ride like 5-6k miles and don't have a poblem change the oil in the spring and like mid summer but this year I didn't put 2k on either ride as I was working overnights and a lot of weekends cause I'm broke, ANYWAY what are some protocols for oil I know they harp on 3 mo's no matter what but those are the anals and the shops what about the real world whats a more realistic oil life 3,000mi 5,000mi or something crazy like 6 or 7 that some manulas state? and what kind of milage should I get out of a semi-syn motul 5100 that I use? is it better to change the oil in the fall before storage or the spring before riding it? just stuff I've never asked and should know already.

COMPARISON: Guzzi V11 and Ducati GT100
DeBenGuzzi replied to Motomonster's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
true, but go look what is said over at the Ducati board, you think WE have a love hate relationship? and my Guzzi has been a dream to own only a few small niggles that were not even hard to fix, not everyone has the same story there I know and the same can happen on a duc the biggest thing is the belts, those damn valve belts would keep me up at night wonderin when, if, just maybe, they'll snap and cause catastrophic failure of the unimaginable kind -
might as well offer to eat a Cessna, I think youre safe I'd still like a Stelvio in silver BUT 15k for the thing is too high for me considering parts and dealer support who cares if it has the best warranty, hell give it a 10 year warranty its worthless if you can't get it worked on or even simple parts take out most if not all of your riding season(up north) With all that considered I would have to find one for literally half that to pull the trigger. I'm leaning Triumph in the cruiser dept, not the greatest dealer network but easy enough to live with, who knows I'm 3 years out from a new ride anyway

I'm sorry she might be able to show you up on the track and in the sack, can you really handle that? -
COMPARISON: Guzzi V11 and Ducati GT100

I see a Ducati like a Trophy Wife Looks hot, will empty your bank account, all-around tempremental but damn is it a fun ride once you hop on and make it all worth it, if you can afford it -
COMPARISON: Guzzi V11 and Ducati GT100
DeBenGuzzi replied to Motomonster's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
I have the same sentiments about my Guzzi and Aprilia RSV, the RSV demands you ride too fast, it almost makes you go over 70mph at all times, while the guzzi is fine at ANY speed under 100. I like my two completely different rides. -
ouiji, I was aware that monsters and many of the older Ducs are easy to wrench on and pretty reliable but the 916+ bikes are notorious nightmares, 749's 999's 916's even the new 1098's have been having a lot of problems, if I were to get a Duc I would probably want the 1000DS or one of the throwbacks but then they are too close to the Guzzi and half as comfy, a 900ss would be sweet, I fear their superbikes tho, ppl have stories of a bike being so broken almost right out of the crate that ducati bought it back and gave them a new one. I think overall Guzzi edges out BMW for reliability but BMW has the name and marketing for it. I have a story I was looking at a white oil filter the guy said it was $18 I picked up a second oil filter and the guy said it was $8 I said whats the difference? he said one has the BMW logo on it.
-
OH I've also heard the same story on ppl Talking about Aprilia's that they were unsure about their reliability(rotax is almost guzzi reliable for sport bikes) and that with that uncertianty they went with Ducati omg I laugh so hard when I see that, sure they're bullet proof bikes too if you spend $800 a year or so for new belts and adjustments and even then ducs can go how tarded are some ppl really? I'm not saying Ducati is a bad bike but its definatly not reliable or inexpensive or easy to work on, the supersports that is, I hear the monsters and less high performance bikes aren't too bad but still, come on, open yer eyes.

these things are so rediculously reliable that you have to literally TRY to break them, obviously there is a random bad egg here or there but the numbers on those are so tiny and often third party related or owner mistakes like running the oil too low, for me the marzochi forks have been the only problem which appear to need new seals again on the right fork, I had them replaced at 4k because one was weeping and now its weepin again I don't wheelie it but I'm heavy and ride it plenty hard and the motor has been solid despite my best efforts and I fear with proper maint the bike could outlast nearly any other bike on the road. Its the over built tech not used in many of todays bikes or cars, you see tons of 50-60's cars on the road but how many from the 80's or 90's? around here the weather is harder on them sure but I wish there was still a car out there built like a Guzzi

I have to say a close tie between the Britten and the Guzzi V8, same statement for both - it was just so advanced and complex for its time, a true engineering marvel in its day and even today. my top 3 of the younger generation have to be the Hayabusa, Vmax, and the R1 not very special or old but they are wayyy up there for every category, most iconic of my generation is easily the 916

the coppa lemans is my dream V11 sport, problem is it would be a whole heck of a lot cheaper to start with a lemans and get it painted than to try and turn my sport into a lemans AND get it painted. I'm happy with my look also but that coppamans is amazing.

better investments than the women and the booze but then, the memories right, the memories I can only imagine such a life.

screw that, get'r a Aprilia 250 RS

Al R's V11LM is doing a world tour!
DeBenGuzzi replied to Admin Jaap's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
nice, but it does say its a test ad, probably still some scam in the making. I wish I could export my Guzzi to Austalia, or hell especially my ape, seems like they're twice as expensive down under, we should just annex half the globe already, would make things much easier. -
drawing board hell it takes'm 2 or 3 years to get it off the assembly line drawing board seems more like a 10 year plan

anyone have any idea what this 1400 california will look like? if it has nice trim, windshield, bags, heck if it looks anything like the current california vintage I might be all over that instead of the Stelvio, tho any new bike is 2-3 years off for me at the moment but hell if I don't like to do my homework and make a solid desicion before I plunk down.
-
why not Carbon Fiber? hmmmm BST wheels with some kind of adapter would be nice I mean I know its pretty much lipstick on a pig but if youre talking about spendin the money, why not SPEND the money

I don't WANT TO WORK 50 hours a week 50 weeks a year, seems I can't afford anything else and Vacation plans have dried up fast too, used to be pretty standard to get 2 weeks vacation off the bat but now many places make you wait 2 or 3 years before you even get 2 weeks, how do I afford to take 2 mo's off and go motorcyclin across Europe because damnit I really friggin wanna know also good to know for the factory I do plan to visit it someday, you know with my 2 weeks a year I'll have by then
-
god I was hoping no one would remember that one, didn't want to post it, looking at it now its a monstrosity thanks tho, I also got the seat cowl painted black, looking to put a nice Guzzi eagle decal across it

I can't believe a country closes down for a whole month? they say Americans are lazy but I work 10 hours a day 5 days week(sometimes 6) doing manual labor with 8 days of vacation a year for the first 3 years then I get 13 days and the whole country closes for a month?? I mean I know I've heard this before and a friend of mine's brother in-law is from Greece and it seems like the same way there all kinds of time off and they only work like 6 hours a day. How does Europe live that life they live?
-
no big deal per se' its just been a long process of upgrades, fixes and confusion about direction, its all but sorted now, almost all. It started life as a bone stock Silver 00' V11 sport and now is a bit of a scura mandello mix kind of look going on. At least I can say, yup thats mine, whether you like it or not its pretty unique, or at least getting there.
-
YAY then I can watch it flake off for the rest of its life, dumbest idea ever, motorcycle engines should be 2 things bare metal or chromed but not completely dipped in chrome ala crazy harley riders that get everything dipped in chrome but those are the only acceptable engine coverings. Being these are Alum I would think some annodizing would be alright but extremely expensive I imagine. Paint just doesn't seem like a good idea on anything you plan to keep(for the egines)

also I haven't ridden the goose all summer and forgot just how much fun it is, so comfy in a relative way even the clip-ons on this bike don't feel like clipons and the absence of any heat on my legs is great the aprilia basically says 65mph? buahahah you panzy ass, it literally talks down to you and calls you a little girl for driving the speed limit whereas the goose is like hey this is nice I could do this all day

the starter cover will be CF if I can find a decent deal on one. I know about the wheels I'm thinking about having them powder coated ideally the same red as the tank but that is really really hard to do with a powder coat so probably just black with a red reflective stripe around the edge for some flash at least thats the idea. In a dream world I would get the Alpina spoked wheels with the red hub but th ose are almost worth as much as the bike and add like 10lbs I wonder if this bike will ever be finished so to speak, I dunno I'ma axe jaap what he thinks about a bike ever being finished
