  1. Many, many race teams use K&N filters. Gullible fools all, obviously. David Vizard, one of the foremost engine tuners in the world reccommends K&N filters(amongst others) when improving through-engine airflow. Another mug. Your engine will wear out, whether you want it to or not.Any air filter will remove most of the airborne grit, what comes through will probably pass through most filters,so I'd say changing your oil is far more important than fussing about whether a 2 nano-micron particle is better than a 3 nano-micron one. You have to hand it to K&N though, they've got the world buying airfilters that are marginally better than a sieve. What a lark. BTW,I put a K&N on because the performance improvement has been independantly dyno-proven,on many different engines. And they do a nice line in stickers.

    Good reading

Stephen Donaldson's books on the road racing scene are pretty good. He's a photographer, and some of his pictures are simply stunning.

Havent got my copy yet,the carrier pigeon must have stopped for a pint somewhere. Reminds me of the old joke- "What's your ideal woman?" "Three foot tall with a flat head!"
  5. What if your eyes are different heghts up your face? Do you have to cock your head to one side?
  6. It's left hand drive
  7. It wasnt me either,I was battling the traffic on the M50 Dublin ring road on my burgundy and road filth V11. Pasadena,Calif? It's a hard life,Ferg....................... Bastard.
  8. This is serious. Is it just cosmetic or could it have spread to the main chassis structure?
  9. The canvas comes through.
  10. They were reading a thread on a website about aftermarket ecu's being fitted to V11's and simply lost the will to live after page 18. Staff at the local hospital were able to revive them, but they're confined to wheelchairs so they cant reach the keyboard until full psychological therapy has taken place. The host was laughing cos he's got an order in for a Breva, nervous hysteria got the better of him.
  11. Why have them matching? Why not have them completely different so that when people point it out, you sigh, point at the nice Guzzitech logo engraved thereon and say patiently "They're SUPPOSED to be like that" Leave them scratching their heads.
  12. So,would you fly in a plane put together by the guys who built your V11?

    V11 Cafe Racer?

Old John goes down to his shed at half eight every morning with his sandwiches and hand beats ally sheet to make those tanks. He's an old school craftsman with old school techniques,it just takes time. He's a right character too, but he makes a hell of a petrol tank.

C'mon Mike, enlighten us. I reckon early Indians had leaf sprung forks, but what else is wrong? He's doubled up the front brakes I think. Anyway, from what I could see at the last classic meeting I went to, most of the bikes were replicas or had a large amount of remanufactured bits, surely due to the ravages of time and racing, there cant be much original stuff left. Personally, I dont think it matters,as long as the machine is in period trim.
  15. Yeah, sounds like the original battery. Mine went overnight, rode home,no probs, wouldn't start next morning. I got a Hawker battery from Moto Mecca, works great.

    Winter!!

Snowed here on Friday, dead slippy, couldn't get any power down at all. I tried to pull away from the house with both feet down like outriggers, got to the bend at the end of the road and gently pirouetted round twice like Mad Max meets Torvil and Dean.Didn't drop it or go down, luckily, but couldn't go anywhere either. I eventually managed to slither back to the house, but couldn't stop and skated past at a majestic 3mph, arms and legs locked, eyeballs bulging, did a 10 point turn and got her back in the driveway, blowing like a piper. Thought I'd got away with it,but when I went in the house, herself and the kids are buckled. Better than the telly, apparently. Took the van to work.

A friend used to have a Hudson with a straight 8,smooth as silk. Christ,I loved that car,it had that early 50's streamlined look and a mint green interior which sounds crap but was actually really nice. WIIIIIDE whitewalls too.

In drag racing an autobox is quicker,no time wasted changing gear. Also, afaik, the torque multiplication factor of the torque convertor acually makes it more efficient at peak torque. I like an autobox with a big engine, effortless smokin around.
  22. Possibly. Then again, maybe not. With it being a big old v twin you're going to get movement somewhere,it might be an idea to allow the clamp to move slightly on its' mount? Is the exhast rubber mounted or solid?
  23. Didn't Jimmy Adamo race Ducatis in the old Battle Of The Twins races in the eighties? AFAIK, he won at Daytona riding Reno Leonis' old 900ss
