  1. I really must learn to do that. Still stuck in the mindset of looking up books and magazines. It's an interesting engine design,I kind of thought that somehow it pressurised or supercharged the intake charge but maybe I'm thinking of something else. (Googles--something else--- nope that wasnt it.)
  2. Didnt the TWN have an unusual engine layout-split single or something?
  3. Still here. If/when you get back out, give me a shout, the first rounds are on me. It's a nice enough place and the locals are great but christ is it boring. There's a Guzzi importer set up now,so I went up and had a look. The "salesman" didnt know there was a Griso there, along with a couple of Aprilias, but they're really just interested in the Vespas as far as I can see and have to take the whole package from Piaggio, that's the impression I got. The Griso's nice enough, but it's an ugly sod compared with the V11.Dunno if I'd buy one.
  4. I suppose it's the nature of things, some guys wander in for a while and wander off again. How you doin anyway you aul rascal?

  13. BFG,if you check out the exhausts section of the Unity Equipe catalogue http://www.unityequipe.com/CatalogueMarch2008.pdf you'll see true megaphone exhausts and those with reverse cones. The reverse part was added on mostly single cyl racers,Manx Nortons,7R's,G50's and the like to give a wider "power band".The harmonic frequencies of the exhaust gases could be altered by changing the size, angle of cone and exit hole. Phil Irving describes it well in "Tuning for speed"

  17. ""Immediately after 20 miles at sustained 90 MPH (indicated), I was able to haul down to extended stops for traffic lights (twice), and both times experienced ZERO low RPM sensor body heat-soak hot lean burn feedback loop symptoms. Again, with the OE sensor in either plastic or brass holders, this was not possible to achieve regardless of thermo-compound or air gap, the only exception being the use of passive control (heat sink) and active control (variable resistor"" These were presumably the symptoms your bike wasnt experiencing when it was running perfectly? Good work
  18. Looks like a fitting tribute, will they have one for Robert as well?

    Moto Guzzi Monza

Far as I know, you're right,Ferg.BRG was actually Irish Racing Green, first used in the Gordon Bennett races, some of the very first motor races, held across Ireland as the Brits wouldnt allow racing on public roads. Or something.
