Depends on the ambient air temperature

I know that there are several threads on Marz forks, so rather than post in a few, I'll put this up and let the forum gods attach it where they will. Spoke to richard at Maxton Suspension again today, on a possible upgrade to the Marz forks on my 02 sport. He can strip them, rebuild the internals with the Maxton units, then reassemble. This will provide preload and rebound damping adjustment in both fork legs, rather than the one leg comp, one leg rebound of the stock set up. Spring rate to suit rider weight and intended use. He is unable to put a compression damping adjustment in due to the design, but reckons that it's a bit unnecessary on a road bike anyway I asked him about drilling and tapping the sliders for drain plugs, and he replied that he'd look into it, but from memory it wouldn't be feasible. In his opinion, it's better to dismantle anyway to check bush condition, etc. Price would be around £340+vat. It's another option rather than the expense of Ohlins, anyway. For those of you in the colonies, Maxton are a very highly respected company who do the suspension for a lot of riders at the TT, Irish road racing, etc. www.maxtonsuspension.co.uk

Beauchemin, the low speed damping is altered using the remote adjuster, wich locates in the stock Sachs bracket. Main damping adjustment is done with the plunger in the damper body. I havent needed to alter it, but it looks pretty easy to do, just make a bent rod( welding rod?) to depress the plunger, remove the bolt holding the piston in the frame, rotate it a click and reassemble. When the plunger is depressed,it engages the danping adjuster, and when released, the piston can move freely. Put some more time on the bike today, and I have to say that there is a big difference over the Sachs unit. It's difficult to quantify, but the bike is more compliant over the bumpy roads here, more comfortable to ride yet doesn't stray in fast bends, stays right on line. The only trouble now is that overnight someone seems to have replaced my forks with broomhandles. Suppose thats what happens when you upgrade, other parts start to feel inferior, where previously I was quite happy.

Yep,my top speed is now 20mph faster,I can pull more chicks and I'm better in bed now, too.Cos everyone knows bikes with purple springs are best!

The new damper arrived today, fitted straight on, very nice quality piece. This is the rebound adjuster, moves the threaded rod with a 2.5mm allen key in the wee hole. The main compression damping adjustment is performed by depressing a plunger in the hole and rotating the piston rod. Low speed damping adjustment adjuster The whole shebang. Only been for a quick 20 mile spin, but I'm impressed enough to recommend one. Didn't even have to adjust or reset anything, worked great straight of the box. Cost me £480 +vat. Happy? Dog with two dicks.

Gaun yirsel, Ginger. The gearbox rattles a bit as well at tickover, really unless it gets helluva loud it's normal for these things to tick tock jingle jangle. Grossohc, how was Moto Ecosse? It would be handy to know ,in case I need a odd bit or piece on my way past

Innit funny, cars I would have never looked at when I was young, nowadays some of them are ok. VW Beetle? Ten years ago, I'd have laughed, now I think they're great. Slow, funny wee cars, but after working on a few, I came to appreciate Porsche's clever engineering.BTW, if you fit a Subaru Impreza turbo, you can scare the hell out of boy racers in a ratty old bug.Does some amount of gearboxes in,tho(5 at last count)

Can anyone help?Having a few sensations out a bottle tonight with a friend of mine (non biker), wh tells me about a film he recently saw about a race across pre WW1 America on veteran bikes with David Carradine in it. Never even heard about this one, anybody know about it? Erm, this is in the wrong forum, can anybody move it?

The masses are always right, but dont forget about the volumes, they're important too. Volumetricality, the way to go.

Sadly, I wont be able to attend the rally( stop cheering at the back), so for any sassenachs returning home after with a couple of hours up their sleeve, here's a wee diversion that will relieve the tedium of the motorway and wont cost too much time.On the M74 south of Glasgow, take the Lanark exit A72. follow the road down the Clyde valley, through Lanark and on to Biggar. Take the turn off for Broughton, then right towards Moffat. Just before Tweedsmuir, watch out for a sign that says Tala / Fruid. Follow this wee road up through the hills past the reservoirs til you emerge at theA708 Selkirk/ Moffat road, turn right so St Mary's Loch is on your left. About a mile along or so, visit the Tibbie Sheils Inn on the left, where Walter Scott used to hang about, then on past the grey mares' tail ( a big waterfall) into Moffat, and back onto the M74 south. Well worth it, tho why I'm sharing details of one of my favourite roads with you scruffy lot escapes me. Have fun.

Sorry, big fella, I'm using it. Dont you policemen have your own club? Roll up your left trouserleg and wink at your chief constable, that'll get you straight in, I'm told.

Well done, just what the doctor ordered,eh?Lets hope this is the prescription to cure your itch and not just a panacea for your pains( and other crap medical links). jrt, dont be vaguely disturbed,my friend.Be obvious about it, it's easier to get a space at the bar

Sounds good, Noggers. Is this running better with the high octane fuel?. Maybe you'll have to keep feeding the old girl the good stuff to keep her sweet. Personally, if we could get it here, I'd use it all the time. When I'm back in Scotland, the bike runs noticeably better than on the parrafin available here.

Change your trans oil. Clean the switch at the same time(before you refill, obviously). Job jobbed.
-
Why not visit a first class S&M club for a few weekends? The bike will feel like a sofa after that. Spankingly comfortable

Probably, but dont call him Shirley.

Fair play, Nicky well done. Now get your finger out and do it on the European circuits, Vale needs competition.

Get yourself a proper helmet, the one in your picture looks about as much use as a chocolate teapot. And dont worry too much about all the nonsense on the forum, just ride the bollocks off it,and if it breaks, fix it.

Just whack plenty of grease in there, it'll be fine. Keep it greased and it'll not matter if there's water getting in, as long as it isn't allowed to collect and lie there it wont matter.
