Bike magazine in the uk just tested the faired version, it went back in a truck cos the gearbox broke............
  2. "I look 47 but I'm 24 Well they shoo'd me away from here the time before Turn their backs and they lock their doors I'm watchin tv in the window of a furniture store"
  3. Carrier bag???! Luxury! We used to live in a 'ole in't road............
  4. Eh? Who said that?
  5. Lucky sod,all them stainless and ti fasteners just waiting in the parts bins, ready to go onto your guzz! Not for one minute suggesting youd blag them of course, just cherrypick the time x bin
  6. Unless youre in Europe, any aircraft I've worked on use UNF fasteners, US makers included.
  7. Have to be,got a V11!
  8. Park your arse in the saddle and twist the grip

    Likely V11 purchase

Just see if you like it. It may have flat spots, a clunky box, vibrate, need the suspension set up. Dont worry about it, they're fairly easy to sort/fix. Just enjoy yourself, if you find your grinning to yourself as you go, its for you. If you dont gell, try another one.
  11. Slightly off topic, Ballacraine,do you know if there's a centenary planned for TT 2007? Haven't been to the island since the early 90's but would love to come back if they're having a big party for 100 years o racing.
  12. So so true. We've all done it, cleaned the spanners, put everything away, mug of coffee in hand feeling pleased with yourself, when you glance at the workbench and there's a bloody nut/bolt/o ring you forgot to put back! And it's not the last thing you just fitted,oh no, its buried behind the worst knuckle shredding most bastard inaccessable spot on the machine, that despite contorting yourself like a yoga master hooked up to a h.t. lead,is just out of fingers reach. And after pulling it all to bits and putting it back together again, you figure out how it could have been fixed in 5 seconds flat.
  13. Belfastguzzi, Brian Robson and others have had hours of fun with rear wheel/ bevel drive bearings, I just had a self destructing starter motor caused apparently by a faulty handlebar switch tho I believe this to be a one-off. An index of probable and known faults sounds like a great idea. On the subject of your project, my feeling would be to start at the front and work to the back, checking everything. If your'e lucky, you'll find and eliminate any problems before they happen. You probably wont be lucky. . No, i'm not cynical, just experienced
  14. Do I have this right, you have paid for a system that gives you LESS power than stock?May have read this wrong, starter motor shagged itelf, so I've been having "a few wee sensations" out the neck of a bottle since my weekend plans have been put on hold. But jeez, less power......?
  15. Errrm yep, thats what I thought,errrm......
  16. Give it to BFG,go on. After his recent trials, he could probably do with cheering up!
  17. Al, have you tried contacting Marelli direct? If the shop is a MG dealer, they should be able to get it faxed to them. Haven't tried Marelli personally, but have obtained ecu schematics for quite a few european cars/bikes by contacting the manufacturer direct, tho you have usually got to be in the trade to get in. If I was still employed as a transport engineer, could probably still get them. I'll make a few calls to see what I can do, tho it may take a few days to get a reply.
  18. "Where's your luggage?" "I'm wearin it" Travel light!
  19. Surely, IMHO ,the best bike film yet made. Even non-bikers enjoy it Ive found, got friends who wouldn't be at all interested in bikes, but thought OAS was great. That last scene on the beach with McQueen, Lawill and Malcolm Smith is pure class.
  20. Sorry to hear of your troubles, bet it's the last thing you need. Can the pipe be expanded or stretched to get it on? A lot of tool shops have pipe expanders you can slip inside [like a segmented socket].You can also borrow my big hammer if you like.
  21. BFG, why wont the ti pipes go on? Is there an internal collar or a bend stopping them?
  22. Aint wacky dreams great! By the way, I cant find an air valve on my frame anywhere and I've looked and looked everywhere, feel rather deflated about it.
  23. Why did the adjuster break, was it seized? Havent checked mine, but I would think a fork stripdown is in order.
  24. Anti-fret lubricant? Does that mean you don't have to worry about it anymore? Maybe get you to send me some, I think I'm beginning to suffer from engendered panic from reading this forum. Do you bathe in it or just rub it on?
  25. If the misalignment is in the bearing locating bore, is there enough material to have it bored out and a steel sleeve inserted to true up the bearings relative to the rim? Alternatively, a bearing factor may have a bearing of the same load / speed rating but with a slightly greater o/d which would let you get away with a light clean up cut on a lathe to true up the bore. I wouldn't take much out of it tho'just the minimum you can get away with.
