Weren't the Hells Angels one of the Flying Tigers fighter groups under Claire Chenault in China? -
It depends,Jim. Are you in the Northern or Southern hemisphere? It's to do with the way the fuel swirls. It goes the other way in the southern hemisphere.

Jeez, that's bad luck.My sympathies. Has anyone figured out a theory WHY a filter could unscrew itself. Assuming it was correctly fitted by Mike, why the hell would it come loose? The O ring should surely have enough friction to keep it tight? Just a thought, could a faulty relief valve cause an overpressure in the filter and cause a deformation of the casing, such that it would lose tension on the retaining thread? -
Was down that way today. There was a Norge and a couple of smaller Guzzis outside. The showroom was still being worked on.Couldnt stop, the lorry's too big for the car park. I'll have to work weekends just now,but I'm going down soon as. Maybe see some of you down there.sometime.

Very nice machining work, but dont you find the trammels, rag and lump of wood reduce the cornering abilities?

Yeah, still in Drogheda but theres that many houses built now that it's almost part of Dublin loike. I must check it out,I'm round that way a lot. But jeez you should see the state of my bike.I was half way through a rewire and had to go away to work.Been away since last Sept. The weather destroyed the cover, the paint's been really roughed up and she looks like a pile of shit.Hasnt even been run since then. I had to come back cos I got the flu and a lung infection, but I'll get into her over the next few weeks.

Why not take the solenoid to bits and give it a clean up? I've not done a Guzzi one,but generally solenoids are just a sliding plunger that works against a spring. Disconnect the starter or battery and take out the screws holding it together,it might just be stuck or shorted.

OI! Make that 3. QUOTE(gallo_se @ Mar 2 2007, 12:28 PM) * well, maybe we are not enough for a club in Dublin, but we may be enough guzzisti for a national club Well you know that if its an Irish club you must have a split at the first meeting. I'm for the southern non conformist left-wing "kickstart" brigade homer.gif Oh no we dont.We members of The North Eastern Bearded Low Altitude Flying Column will run things and make sure none of youse culchies get up here without a passport and a road map. And where's that Northern lad with the rat bike?We dont want his type coming down and starting surrealist conversations or extrapolating theories about the place. BTW Ferg,Ducati Dublin is on the Nangor Rd,not the Long Mile Rd. Is the new shop at the aforementioned or is it near Bikeworld? I work just by The Red Cow,so it'll be dead handy.

When I worked manufacturing tunneling machines and coal cutters we used rustoleum to paint the machinery. It lasted very well. Try leaving a machine a mile underground for 5 years and see how well Dulux protects.

Usually when gears are made in the hobbing machine, the ring gear and pinion are machined at the same time to ensure that the tooth profile matches across the face of the tooth.I'd imagine that you'd have a fair degree of difficulty trying to match a tooth profile on a single gear. I'm not saying it would be impossible, just bloody difficult. Saying that, how accurate would the Guzzi machining be? Good luck

So how are we supposed to know what time it is? Or what time it was? What time was it when the clock wasn't there anymore?

Valencia, Valencia Valencia...
big J replied to staedtler's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
My comments seem to have been taken by some to be sour grapes. Not at all, from what I've seen,Nicky is a nice guy who works hard and seems to be a genuinely talented racer. BUT. Surely being on the works Honda we could have seen him give Rossi,Melandri,Capirossi-anyone-a good hard fight for the lead.It would just have been nice to see him battle wheel to wheel with another rider with the same conviction and determination as the others have shown.Instead he seems content to sit behind others and pick up points. He is the champion, though and fair play to him. I'm sure his masters at HRC are satisfied their programme ran to plan. -

Well done to Nicky,as stated,he got the most points. However,he is,in my opinion, not a champion. I've watched every minute of every race,Hayden is a very good motorcycle racer. But he is not a champion. A true racer never gives a length or settles for second.Watch the shapes of the bikes of Edwards or Elias or Checa,Hopkins, whoever, near the end of a race. They may not be on the best machinery, not have the best tyres, but they'll still be trying to go faster and beat the guy in front, even if it's only for 12th place. Dani got a lot of criticism for knocking Nicky off,but at least he was going for it,trying to WIN. Too many times I have watched Nicky sit behind another rider, picking up points. Good for a championship.Agreed. But in winning, one must be the best, must demonstrate that he is at least the equal of the others, that his bravery, machine control and skill are the best.THE BEST.That he can defy the laws of physics and leave we mortals breathless with wonder and admiration. That warm feeling that we get from seeing a fellow human being tiptoe over the precipice and back again, smiling at their audacity. Hayden has been on the best machine. His team budget is by far the biggest. He has had access to the best parts the largest manufacturer can provide.Yet he sits behind other riders and takes points. For me,not the mark of a champion. And no Todd,I'm not "bitchin"
