  1. At 13k miles your bike may just now be needing a tb sync & or a valve adjustment. What you are describing sounds like the tb's may need a tweak.
  2. I can even see what looks like a non guzzi kickstand. I'm skeptical about a 185kg weight though. I just dont see where you can get that much weight off the bike.
  3. I'll have to put mine on the scales at work one of these days with a full tank of gas. I've put the pod filters on & gotten rid of the smog cans but other than that its pretty stock. Of couse theres all that weight savings from the single plate clutch My best guess with a full tank of gas is about 525lbs.
  4. Did the bolt holding the reaction rod break, or are you saying the bushing was destroyed & that caused the bevel gear to break? On my bike the bolt on the reaction rod closest to the transmission broke. It was obvious as soon as it happened something was badly wrong so I pulled over & had the bike towed home. The total cost for me was just a new bolt & a nyloc nut.
  5. At some time before your trip did you adjust the shift lever?
  6. I think you first need to grab it, then twist it....then yank it!
  7. You may want to make sure that you arent overfilling the gearbox with too much fluid. That thing shouldnt just leak out onto your floor when its not running either.
  8. Check the valves yourself to make sure the previous owner did it right. I would set the valves at world specs, but thats just me. If & when you adjust the valves you'll need to make sure the throttle bodies are in sync as well. I use a TwinMax to do that, you can read other threads for tips on that as well. The last thing you should do, is make sure the TPS setting is right. That is sort of the Guzzi tune up trifecta...valves, tb sync, & tps
  9. Yep its perfectly normal for the ram clutch to make that noise in nuetral. If it wasnt noisy I'd say there was something wrong.
  10. Yes the battery light will sometimes flicker at idle speed. Someone explained to me that this is caused from the alternator, but I forget the exact reason. Anyway its normal & nothing to worry about. I still have the oem factory battery in my 2001 Rosso Mandello & it starts right up every time.
  11. Hey I bought into the hype & am the high bidder! Lol I figure its worth a dollar. Think of all the money I'll save on gasoline too.
  12. Wasnt the Starsky & Hutch car a Ford Torino or some such Ford? Wasnt it red as well, & not orange?
  13. I think its because the worm gear thats in the trans end of the cable sort of floats. When the bike hits a bump or whatever the needle bounces too. Its just a guess on my part, but I think thats a big part of the wobble problem. I've just decided to accept it as part of the bikes "character".
  14. I suppose someone could take some used motor oil, put it in a pan on the stove cold. Then measure the level before heating, then after hot....Voila
  15. If you put pod filters on you will only need to adjust your tps sensor to get the fuel mixture right. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, take it to a dealer & get it done for a few bucks. Its no big deal & should only take 10 minutes for a pro to do it. I'm not sure what DeBen is talking about with reflashing the ecu, but it aint necesarry for pod filters alone.
  16. I think that when they (Guzzi) gets the new 8 valve motor ready for production you will see an MGS type motorcycle in the showroom. We have seen the pictures of the new Stelvio & a few of an 8 valve Griso so its in the works. If they have the Griso & Stelvio for sale by next summer, then look for the MGS to be coming soon.
  17. maybe you can watch it live on the internet? Someday soon I think the computer will rival the television for live programming. I like to say stick it to the cable companies, but they own the cable modem business as well
  18. I'd swap the rear stock 170 tire out for a new 160 size immediately. At 5000 miles you're getting close to the end of that tires life no matter what it looks like.
  19. There was an earlier thread where someone had posted a link for a digital speedo/tach. I really liked the looks of the digital & I think it will fit as well but most here prefer analog gauges. YMMV lol
  20. I just switched from the 170 size down to a 160. The difference is amazing! I had a pirelli strada on the rear & switched to a Shinko Podium & I really am loving that tire. The price is about half of the price of the Pirelli but to be honest I'd have to compare both tires of the same size for a true comparison. The front Strada is still in very good shape after over 7k miles but I'm so impressed with the Shinko rear that I'm thinking of getting a new matching front Shinko.
  21. I put a new back tire on recently & noticed that some redline is getting into the inside of the rear drive. Its a slow leak right now that spits fluid onto the rim when I ride. Theres a sleeve type thing inside the crown that may be the culprit, but I'd like to get someone elses opinion.
  22. I had the same trouble with the rubber intake sleeves. I bought a new set & the same problem recurred within one riding season. At the same time however I was having trouble with my tb's not being in sync. After I bought the Twinmax tb sync & learned how to keep my bike running smooth I havent had any trouble with the rubber sleeves at all. The factory set was cracked & looking bad with less than 1000 miles on them so I know the oem stuff is poor quality. I'll have to wait until a few more thousand miles go by before I pass final judgement on the new sleeves & their quality.
  23. Its kind of like buying a brand new pair of hand tailored shoes after running in worn out sneakers. I have Pirellis on my v11 & they are far better than the stock tires that came with the bike as new. I've heard good things about Metzelers & Michelin Pilots as well.
