  1. I put some lead in my bars & it made a small difference. I'm going to have to cough up the big $$ & get the throttlemeisters for better results. My local Guzzi friend Tracey has a set on his Lemans & the vibes are almost completely gone in his bike.
  2. Yes I dont think they will do anything about the problem if they arent forced to. They probably cant afford the recall right now, & most of the clutches work just fine...until they dont that is One of those clutches is going to go boom & really hurt somebody one of these days.
  3. I have to say from reading previous posts here from Scura owners that MG has quite clearly been notified. Both in the U.S. Australia & Europe the clutch problem has been reported with little or no response. It just seems to me that the company does not want to deal with any defective equipment they may have sold if its even one day outside of the warranty period. I dont think theres any doubt that the clutch problem is a manufacturing defect. Moto Guzzi should step up to the plate & recall all of those bikes with that clutch but thats just my opinion. I also do believe that the most effective way to get the companies attention is via a petition or a boycott if necessary.
  4. Havent I read somewhere in this forum that Guzzi has been replacing the single plate clutches in the Calis? Maybe that was only in Europe? I think if they arent going to stand by their products we should form some sort of a group & sign a petition stating that we may boycott their new products until they resolve the defects in the "old" products we have collectively purchased from them. IMO these bikes are pretty highly priced & the manufacturer should stand by the product & service any & all defects in workmanship caused by them. The single plate clutch is a problem they are well aware of & they should be a responsible company & replace their faulty equipment that they sold as being durable & reliable. Does anyone else feel this way about the way Guzzi is dealing with the clutch issue?
  5. Ok which hose is this? Is it the one that connects at the top of the spine? I cant imagine that one leaking as its not under any pressure. That one does seem to "breathe" though. I just replaced that hose with a longer one & routed it to the bottom of the bike.
  6. I didnt pay no steenking vat tax! lol No you dont pay that here...yet
  7. My bike doesnt do it! There may be something seriously wrong with your bike. That light comes on for a good reason. Sounds like you need to get your bike looked at by a more motivated dealer.
  8. Well if you have to go, you'll be taking a few others with you. I know of a few other members who frequently post that do not own a Lemans. Some are members & have never owned a Lemans. I think if you traded your Guzzi in for a new Guzzi you're still "in the fold" here lol. Besides I want to here more from the people who own these new Breva/Griso's to see how well built they are. I'd like to think there will be a lot fewer problems with this new generation of bikes. The only way to know for sure is to stay in contact with each other.
  9. I would go for the Lemans instead of the naked. Its well worth a few extra dollars for the wind protection. Plus it just looks cooler If you like to maintain your own bikes go ahead & get the Lemans! If you have a problem with it just come here & ask us about it. Theres nothing that can go wrong with a Guzzi that someone here doesnt know about.
  10. I tried a Pirelli Diablo Corsa on the front & loved it. Now I'm using the Pirelli Strada's that I got the bogo deal on. I like these tires also, they arent as good as the Corsa's but they will last longer. Imo its a good tradeoff because I think the Strada still has about 80% or so of the performance of the Corsa but with higher mileage. If cost was no issue I'd go with the Corsa every time
  11. I use a wrench on the locknut & hold the adjust knob with a pair of pliers. Once you have the valves sest right put the wrench on the nut, then hold the knob with the pliers & tighten the nut with the wrench. Check the clearance again when the nut is tight.
  12. $6000 is at the upper end for an 02 with flaking engine paint. Offer him $5000 & see if he'll meet you in the middle somewhere like $5500.

    BMW R1200s

It seems to me after reading the cycle magazine reviews of this bmw that MG needs to put the MGS into production to show the world how to do it right They're both within 10lbs & 5hp of each other. I'd love to see a head to head comparison of thge two bikes. The MGS wins hands down in the looks department. Btw the Aprilia rsv mille factory bike won a master bike competition in this months CycleWorld against virtually all other sportbikes. MG can beat the Germans if they want to, but of course its expensive...
  14. Thanks Rick, I figured there was a good reason that idea hasnt been tried yet. Btw my bars vibes arent that bad, I'm just like most people looking to make improvements. I'll probably get the throttlemeisters & some lead.
  15. I took the RM on a fairly long ride (for me) yesterday of about 250 miles. While riding I thought it may be a good idea to cancel the handgrip vibes with rubber sleeves around the clamp that holds to the upper forks. If I could get some 1/16" thick rubber & cut it to length & width use contact cement on both sides between the clamp & the fork so that it would'nt slide when wet. Has anyone already thought of this & tried it yet? Is there an obvious reason that this should not be done? I thought it may even lower the buzz in the mirrors as well. Btw there really are not many vibes over 80mph but thats not legal Its just a thought but I'd like to hear some of the pro's opinions on this idea first.
  16. Congratulations :!:
  17. Whats the attachment on your exhaust pipe for?
  18. Dont worry about the weight of the k&n's Gil. They are extremely light & dont affect the boots at all. The main benefits of the pods for me is the looks, plus its easier to get to other things under the tank should you need to.
  19. For under $20 you can buy a set of aftermarket turn signals at almost any bike shop. For about $40 you can upgrade to a set of led signals. Guzzi parts are usually overpriced & hard to get. Fwiw I'd look at the aftermarket stuff
  20. Congratulations :!: That is a very pretty bike. I agree with the previous post about the oil cooler though. Its a little close to the front tire. it doesnt look like it has a sturdy guard for the rocks from the front pic. Oh well thats only another $100 or so. That bike is all about the factor :!: Do you think you'll ride the Guzzi much now? I know which one I'd pick
  21. I went with the foam grips & they did make a difference. I'm still thinking of weighting the clip ons with some lead to see what that does. That would make a good project for a rainy day, like all this week lol.
  22. Use an awl or a tiny screwdriver to place between the bar & the rubber grip. Then spray hair spray or window cleaner or some mild lubricant in the gap between the awl & the grip. Twist the grip while spraying the lube in the gap & the grip will slide right off. No need to destroy a perfectly good set of grips. If using hair spray just spray the bar wet & slide the new grip back on. When the hairspray dries it acts as a sticky mild glue.
  23. Lol I wasnt trying to steal Tex's thunder on his "cheap" thread I had just cleaned my plugs & re gapped them & was thinking about an upgrade to platinum. That led me to wonder how long a set of plugs should be effective in a Guzzi. My car has a 100k tune up for the plugs, but I highly doubted that a bike engine would go that long. Also btw anyone who wants to add their on a specific brand of plug post away. P.S. I'm not cheap but $12 is too much for a quart of oil.
  24. How many miles should I expect to get from a set of plugs on my v11? I'm thinking of getting a new set & I would also like to know a good brand or type of plug. If anyone has an opinion of one type over another I'd like to hear your opinions
