  1. Someone should forward this post to MG headquarters. Maybe they could make one just for Frenchbob, just to see how much he can make on the streets of Limoges lol Maybe thats what started all those protests & riots recently?
  2. I was wondering how long it would take for the v8 picture to show up! Thats the bike they should build to get back on the big stage. If Piaggio has the deep pockets to finance that kind of r&d they should do it. Noone else has a v8 on the market & Guzzi has a history with the v8. Maybe we should start a poll of who would buy a v8 Goose if they would build it.
  3. Yes I'm aware of that, I think its called a value added tax or vat? Anyway I dont have to pay that tax here in the states, matter of fact internet purchases are tax free here. I guess I'll just have to save the money is all.
  4. That Quat exhaust has started to grow on the list of things I want on my bike. I'd like to know if I have to buy the thing direct from Italy & if theres a better price than the 740 euro. That would equal about $1000 with shipping from Italy I think. If I could get one for around 750 usd out the door I may have to warm up the credit card!
  5. Ok bring out the spy photos!
  6. Spring is here in Ohio! I put the Pirelli Diablo Strada on the rear to match the front. I also greased all the driveshaft zerks & went for a ride. The Strada's work very fine with my v11. It gets a little wobbly over 100mph so I turned up the steering damper & that solved the wobble. With the damper turned up the bike handles higher speed turns very well. Maybe I'll check the valves later this week. If the bogo deal is still going on for the Pirelli's I can say its definitlely worth it.
  7. Theres a new single plate clutch that doesnt make that clacking sound? I kinda like the noise myself, but when its time to replace the clutch I'd like to have the quiet one. Less rattles & clacks make it easier to notice any other possibly alarming noises I guess. I definitely want to stay with the single plate though to keep it close to the way it was made in Mandello. Thats probably the only real difference between a Rosso & a regular v11.
  8. Yes Paolo is the guy that handled my order. Nice guy, got my order through right away.
  9. Your will thank you lol Theres a few more things I want to buy for my bike when I get some extra money.
  10. I used PayPal the PayPal people do the exchange math I guess. They have some very nice English speaking sales reps to help you out.
  11. I'm back from a little more riding time on the new Pirelli Strada free front tire. The bike rides just fine as far as I can tell. It doesnt turn quite as fast as the supercorsa track tire I had on before but it isnt too far off from it either. On another subject I changed the rear drive fluid & trans fluids. I used RedLine Heavy Shockproof gear oil. I must report that neither I nor my bike has been shocked yet It does seem to make it a little smoother, but its nothing I can put my finger on & say wow. I think I'll be putting the rear Strada tire on next weekend & I'll log in another update then.
  12. I've done business with them. They air mail you the part right from Italy, I got my stuff overnight. The parts they make are as good as they look on your computer too. I give them the quality thumbs up
  13. Ok the Guzzi Gods have smiled on me this morning. I got the new Pirelli Strada on the front this morning. I just took it around the block & my initial impression is its a little taller than the Supercorsa. I'm heading out for a longer ride to scrub the new tire good so that its safe. I'll give another report on it later when I have more info. Seems like a good deal for $25 so far though.
  14. 38mpg is probably about what you'll get riding on city streets. Thats about what mine does more or less. You'll notice much better mpg on the highway though. I ride at between 80 & 90mph on the freeway & average about 43 to 45 mpg on a trip. If you go say 60 mph you'll probably do even better than that. Oh yeah, another thought is to check the tire pressure. You should have at least 35 psi on either end for good fuel mileage.
  15. I'm putting the new front tire on my bike & re assembling the front wheel to the bike. I'm having a very hard time getting the bolt to thread into the fork. I tried doing it with the wheel out to see if the bolt would thread just to make sure its not too stripped & it starts & threads just fine. I'm putting the spacer in the right place, I have the pinch bolts loose, the calipers are out of the way. Is there a trick to doing this that I forgot from the last time I did it?
  16. I just got my *free* Pirelli front tire today. I'm going to have the front mounted tomorrow. Maybe I'll get motivated and do the back tire tomorrow too. In either case I'll report in on how well that new Strada front works. Come to think of it the back tire only has about 3k miles on it so I think I'll leave it on awhile yet.
  17. The small windscreen does work! I've ridden my Rosso Mandello back to back with the Lemans & the small windscreen is almost just as good. Dont bother with Magni, they dont make them anymore. RossoPuro has a good looking one in their catalog they sent me. RossoPuro's website is in the upper left corner of this page if you're interested.
  18. Thats very clever :!: You know if I were you I'd make 10 more of those & put them on Ebay with those pictures. Make one for the back end too & you're in business :!:
  19. Well... Everythings for sale if the price is right I suppose. I just thought if you were close enough you'd like to come have a look at a few v11's before you bought one. We have 2 Guzzi breakfasts a month, every other Sunday also. You live on the other side of the state though so its a little far just to have a look. Maybe someone from the Dayton area can show you their bike? I know of a few guys that visit this site from that area. Maybe they'll see this & invite you to have a look at their bikes.
  20. Where are you in Ohio? If you're near Canton let me know. You can stop over & check out my Rosso Mandello. I have a friend with a Lemans here in town you can look at too.
  21. Its funny that you buy a name brand & you think thats the country its made in. I thought I'd buy Pirelli tires to keep my bike all Italian. Fact is if you look on the tire it says made in Germany on them. I wouldnt be surprised if many different brands are made in the same factory. It used to be all the tires in the world "practically" were made right here in Akron Ohio. Not anymore
  22. If you're under 25 you're going to get screwed by the insurance companies. It barely matters what kind of bike you get. The only way to get it cheaper is to just have liability. Buying a house helps alot too, that way you can get a multiple policy discount.
  23. I pay $338 a year for liability & comprehensive. I think a lot depends on where you live. DeBen for example lives in an igloo in Minnesoooda where he can only ride 3 weeks a year! So the insurance is less lol. If you live in a highly populated area you're likely to pay a lot more for insurance of every kind. Allstate has me covered to ride all year with no breaks for that price too btw. If I shopped around I could probably get it even cheaper but its easier just to have one insurance agent for car, bike,& home.
  24. Someday I'll own a bike like that. Its going to be a constant excersize of willpower to keep my drivers liscense though. I love to go fast, the faster the better too. My Goose is a fine motorcycle that satifies one part of my brain but I still want that ultimate thrill rocket.
  25. Has anyone put some miles on those new Pirelli tires that are buy one get one yet? I ordered my back one & mailed in the receipt for the front one today. I'm hoping to get 7k out of this set of tires. I'd like to hear some feedback too, although since I've already paid up they're going on my bike.
