  1. Hmmm sounds like it wanted to vapor lock. Did you get the open airbox mod? I've heard of them actually sucking the heat shield backing off the bottom of the fuel tank. Obviously thats bad for air flow lol. Other than that its probably your pc setting. I'm just guessing though, I'm no mechanic. Your bike is too new for that heat shield to come loose but I'd peek under the tank anyway.
  2. I just love the looks of the tailpiece on that Scura :!: How much are they? That would look great on my Rm. Hmm that may be a project for next year though lol. Btw for the thread, go buy the bike that moves you. Theyre close enough that it doesnt really matter IMO. You only live once, I bought an 01 Rosso Mandello knowing all the potential problems & with 6500 miles on it, its as good as any Honda out there so far. Knock on wood If I were to do it all over again I'd buy the Guzzi with over 5000 miles thats been properly sorted out. But I dont know if the problems you read about in here are all that common. People rarely write in about not having any problems. So what you see in here probably makes their reliabilty appear to worse than it is. If you do get a good one like I think I do..(knock on woodlol) You'll probably get over 50k miles out of it before anything starts to wear out...maybe a lot more than that if you dont abuse it.
  3. I took mine to a guzzi dealer for the tuning & I loved the results. The cost for me was $30. Your in Cali so expect to pay $100 lol....its still worth it, you wont have to bother with it again for a year at least. (for the tuning that is) Its a good idea in general to have a Guzzi pro look at it until you spend more time in here & decide what your comfortable with working on.
  4. I just turned 6k miles on mine recently & its getting smoother & better mpg too. I just got 132 miles out of 3 gallons of gas. Have your bike tuned at a Guzzi dealer that has the computer hookup for it. I had mine sync'd by Speakers Cycles here in Ohio & wow! That made it like a new bike As for the exhaust, someones always wanting to offload their stock exhaust around here. Look in the classifieds section on this site & you may find a stock exhaust. Get the Maund seat & some gel grips, or foam & you'll be set. Btw I have also found the bike to be tiring after 125 or so miles, so thats normal. Stop at a gas station, fill it up, stretch out have a soda your good to go.
  5. I just happen to have an extra bevel drive lying around. Sans pinion gear lol I may be interested in parting with it It doesnt leak but you'd have to swap the gears. Pm me if your interested
  6. I'm curious to know what became of the bike myself. Is it going to be sold for parts? I dont wish anyone any bad luck because I dont need the bad karma, but I hope a salvage v11 turns up in the ohio area. I'd like to have one just for parts & to learn how to work on a motorcycle better.
  7. Wow that Daytona must be collectable! Its already over $7000 with several days to go. I can only hope my Rosso Mandello is that collectable if I ever want to sell it. Maybe my thread here generated interest in the bike? Its out of my price range now but thats ok theres always next year. Hmm I should go buy a lottery ticket lol
  8. I pull the helmet up a little & try to sneeze through the bottom of the helmet. I usually get the chin area wet, but its better than the visor.
  9. Sounds very close in performance to the Lemans to me. I think the Rosso Corsa even did the 1/4 mile a little faster in the Motorcyclist test. However with the Termignoni exhaust & the upgrade chip I'm sure the Ebay bike is a little faster. As with all bikes its more a style & design preference anyway. It doesnt cost much money to go fast anymore, as long as you dont mind a Suzuki/Honda/Yamaha bike. I do like the new Yamaha R1 though for style & design, I have to give them credit they made it look really good.
  10. I'm short "5'8" so the riding position would be fine. I think I'll have to go back to my old issues of Motorcyclist & see if I can find it in the hard numbers section at the end of the mag. Like I said I probably cant get this particular one, but I think I will have one.

    moto lust

Theres a 93 daytona on ebay that I would love to have. Probably cant afford one this year but can anyone tell me if its a faster bike than the lemans? Someday when I'm rich I'll have a whole stable full of bikes lol.
  12. http://www.lockhartphillipsusa.com/rs/showProduct.cgi I was just wondering if these could be modified to fit a v11? They are really good looking in the carbon & under $30
  13. My stock carbon fiber cans weigh 9lbs each. How much do standard cans weigh? Is 18lbs heavy for 2 cans? I wonder what the aftermarket carbon fiber cans weigh. I wouldnt mind a little more boom boom sound on my bike Maybe I'll try unpacking the cans at a later date.
  14. Please keep us posted on the drilling & tapping of the lowers. I still need to do this service, and I can probably take the forks to work & get that done there. My bike will probably have near 10k miles on it by this fall & thats probably when I'll do it.
  15. What happened to the other guy a while back that the nut or something came off the cam? Something like that, it was pretty catastrophic. I would have it towed to the dealer, dont even restart it. Maybe someone else with a better memory of this can find the thread & post it here,
  16. I have a set of quiet stock carbon cans on my Rosso Mandello I'd trade you. Pm me if your interested
  17. If you'd like to sell those old noisy carbon pipes, I can imagine someone here would buy them
  18. I decided to wear a set of earpiece headphones tonight with a walkman. I still wore my helmet so no one needs to lecture me I thought it would be cool to have music while riding, but it just seems to take something away from the experience. Maybe it would be ok for a long ride across state or something like that. Has anyone else tried this? I know its probably slightly unsafe to wear headphones & ride also. I thought it was a little weird to ride that bike & not really hear & feel the engine I'd like to hear others experience with this if anyone has a they would like to throw in.
  19. I use Valvoline 20 w 50 synthetic in mine. Seems to work just fine
  20. I like my Oxtar T.C.S boots, but only for riding. I think I need a size bigger though. Redwing is making riding boots now, they look good & I'll bet being Redwing they feel good too. Made in America too fwiw
  21. Omfg :!: Shit the bed is a new one on me Btw I have #74 is your Rosso a numbered one too?

    PITA

I have a pair of agv leather riding pants that make the seat more comfortable. Its only a little more padding but it helps.
  23. I'm starting to see the light I guess I'll just have to remove the rear wheel & get the caliper up in the air. Otherwise I'll probably need a pressure system to bleed it.
  24. Good news! I removed the bleeder nipple & covered the hole with my finger. I could feel pressure build up & when I let go air & fluid bursts out. The fluid also gets warm? Still unsure why I cant get brakes but I know I'm on the right track. I'll have my maintenance man friend give me a hand & I'm sure we'll get it right.
