Round about nowhere*
Van replied to belfastguzzi's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Hey! Thats in BC...at the start of some great rides through the mountains...google it to see.... not many r'bouts here, although we do have a great one just "our" side of the Peace Arch border crossing into the US of A....it comes out at you from nowhere and is really fun if you're blasting through it ...like a giant chicane, with bad cambers....the fun starts as you watch the mini-van operators (they don't drive, they drink coffee, chat on the cell, yell/praise little Jonny for his soccer/hockey skills) fly into it to fast, realize they dont have a freek'n clue, and come to a grinding halt in the middle of things as they try to sort it out... Hey! me too!! (l thought that Pete was just giving me a hard time over being so Tenni mad!) Cheers Van

Strada Various Guzzi Riders of BC
Van replied to helicopterjim R.I.P.'s topic in Meetings, Clubs & Events
Hey Jim ! Great idea!!! l would love the chance to finally meet some fellow STRATA VARIENTS !! and go for a ride Up here on the North lsland l've been organizing monthly "breakfast runs" over the past 5-6yrs, NO club, NO rules, save for one....THERE ARE NO STINK'N RULES !!! l usually hold them on the 2nd sunday of every month during the ridding season and the whole plan is to get all and any type of bike/rider out for a ride. We meet at a pre-determined gas station , usually at about 10:30 and then ride off to have brunch at some restaurant/pub etc for about noon. The rides vary from a short 100km round trip to the longest of about 400kms. Destinations are to places like Sayward, Sprout Lake past Port Alberni and of course Gold River We get everything from a great guy on a '51 BSA 500 with a side car called "Mabel" to the normal cruiser crowd, some Harleys, Wings, and usually a good selection of new and vintage Brit bikes, the odd Vincent, always a couple of Beemers, sometimes sport bikes and of course the cream of the crop, a few Ducs and my Goose! The ride is simple, ride at your own pace! fast guys sweep the road ahead for the cops.....only had one ticket issued to a squid and we all pitched in later on...and tell the pub that there are more bikes on the way regular riders, at their own pace slow riders ....we'll save you a place it's not an organized ride, just a bunch of like minded riders out for a sunday spin, riding in a long pack formation is not encouraged. ....to which, l'm going to try to get a ride/get together organized with Brian of the Ducati Club for this summer, probably mid-July to Mount Washington.. maybe see you there????? sorry l missed the guys at the show, (l guess that you meet and were talking to "Ducati Club Brian") again, one day with luck l'll get to meet you, and to check out your fantastic assortment of bikes..... Cheers Van -
Maybe just me, l always thought they were dumb, Now, a nice set of turns like RacerX did on his New Years eve vids... or some of those great hooters... but a Guzzi Jackal doing a burn out...... Cheers Van

Sigh! what 'coulda been !! maybe if you get a chance later on in the summer, it's better then, the weather is a little more civilized, the bikes are out, they can get ridden, the girls are in their bikini's, you can slap a salmon on the BBQ. life returns and is good!!! Cheers Van

with a little luck l'll get to hook-up with some of the other Vancouver area "Guzzista", might fire up the 'ole bush telegraph and organize a bunch of north island holigans and riff-raff and come down on the Thursday, still too early to finalize, Cheers Van

Hey Jim, l hope that wasn't your chopper that had a forced landing because of the snow squall on Hwy. 1? it looked pretty dramatic, and of course didn't help traffic, l'll try to get some pics on the site. Are you going to be at the bike show in Abbotsford? with luck we could hook up this year. Cheers Van

NO NEVER!!! l'd rather fight than switch!!!! (l dunno Jaap, maybe its a Scura plot or something)? Cheers Van

I bought my Tenni # 125 a few winters ago and had to wait till the spring to ride it, so to stave off cabin fever (bad TV) l broke out the old paints and paid hommage to the bike marque l've always wanted and the inspiration for the Tenni's Cheers Van

Hey NICE Bike !!! My kid brother had one that he spent alot of $$ on....it was, oh me Gawd fast in its day, (it was timmed at 11:00 sec even on a damp strip at 5500ft ) and he used it to full use to hunt and humiliate 911 Turbo's on the Nichol Hwy out of Johannesburg. His favorite sport at the time! l always liked the big Katana's, and have felt that they were the bikes to break Japan inc. out of the U.J.M.C. rut they were in. Cheers Van ps. hard to find a nice one that's not wanked.

Ahh, as pearls before swine...... seriously though, like all things on e-bay, as Richard100T said, caveat emptor indeed !! Welcome to the new V11 owner, here's hoping that they got a good one and that they enjoy the experience. Cheers Van

Tenni's in the junkyard indeed!... ....really quite understandable all this Tenni envy..... sad that it comes across as --jealousy--tisk, tisk. and from such a fine fellow as Martin On the positive (Tenni side ) of things, welcome #117 !!!! and very glad to see that the bike has found an owner that can appreciate a fine and rare bike !! Cheers Van

ls it just me or does the 2007 Harley 1200 prototype look very Grisso-ish???? The Sportster's are the only Harleys that have had even the lest amount of interest for me, and l always liked the XR 750's ...flat trackers are cool !!..Maybe Harley could build a bike l'd like........ ..no. l don't think so. Cheers Van
