  1. Welcome Bob Several people on this forum including myself have used Rich Maund with excellent results. I was so pleased with my V11 seat that I sold the Sargent that I had on my RT and had him redo the stock seat. Check this thread out: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10430
  2. This guy makes some very nicely machined mounts. He too caters to BMW but his stuff can be adapted to most anything. I use his GPS mount on my RT. Quite solid. http://www.gadgetguy.net/

    Motorcycle boots

I wear the Sidi Canyons both on & off road. They're very substantial and completely waterproof. I also have an older pair of Sidi road boots that look like the ones Tom pictured, can't recall model name though. They're very comfortable when off the bike but not as tall as the Canyon. Sidi's are of very good quality and will offer much better ankle protection than work boots. Usually the soles are not as bulky as work boots so it is easier to move around the shifter too.
  4. Right there with you Keith. Thanks for saving that quote. OBND spoke eloquently. It is a fact of life that people will misconstrue, misunderstand, disagree, intentionally ruffle feathers and be downright vile. A discussion between family or neighbors can erupt into a personal war. We have people from around the globe here. The amazing part is, most everyone gets along and enjoys this marvelous resource. That is usually the case until the subject turns to politics. I think we should stick to motorcycles.
  5. Very True I use a TD125MkII with a Grace arm. Bought it in '78. It needs to be dusted off and fired up. Plenty of time to listen now that winter has arrived.

    Cool LeMans...

No you are not alone. It looks like an amputee. All the difference on a naked bike.
  8. And for those on this side of the pond. http://www.coloradonortonworks.com/
  9. Good luck weej. Enjoy paradise.
  10. It is funny you compare those two. My LeMans is the first bike I've had that has the motor "character" of the Norton. So much so that I rarely rode the Norton after getting the LeMans. Two seasons later I put the Norton on a stand in my office. Now it has been two years since I've ridden the Norton. I feel like if they still made Nortons they would ride like a V11.
  11. KTM missed the mark on that one but not by much. Get rid of the "big bird" beak and the Peterbilt smoke stacks and it wouldn't be too bad.
  12. That Commando picture in the article looks like one of Kenny Dreer's. Beautiful bike. He came close to getting it going but ran out of money.
  13. ...with whatever you've got at hand. Hmm, I wonder if I qualify for one of these coveted awards. I wanted to raise the level of my mufflers and eliminate the passenger pegs. I cut and drilled brackets from 1/4" aluminum scrap and (this is where the bodge comes in) used Norton Commando head steady rubbers as isolators between the brackets and on the home made crossover hanger. Well, do I qualify as a bodger? Sorry for the hijack
  14. As SH said, Ryland's are nicely made. For a less radical position change Motobits makes a nice set. I got mine from Greg at Moto International. They are very nice and still keep a sporting position.
  15. Ryan has it right. Sil-Glide is made for this sort of thing. You can pick up a tube at most any auto parts store and it will last nearly forever.
  16. Looks like Vecchio advertised V11 stuff to the V11 crowd. It can only make for more bidding.
  17. +1. You don't need one for this problem.
  18. Be careful rookies. Jaap doesn't like it when we play rough. Don't ask me how I know.
  19. Just a thought. Have you tried opening the throttle slightly while cranking? I've found that if I hit the starter button while cracking the throttle open if fires up quickly. I never use the fast idle lever.
  20. A couple that have missed the list. For a classic, never has any manufacturer taken something so good as Norton did with the Commando Roadster and made it so bad with the "High Rider" A short lived modern exercise in ugliness is BMW's cyclops the R1200ST.

    Trick V11 LM

Critter posted related links on another thread http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...15&start=15 The nero is especially tasteful. I noticed the late model valve covers on those bikes too. I wondered if they interchanged or if the heads were changed as well.
  22. Splitting my riding between bikes I usually don't put more than 3000 miles on any of them in one season. I generally change street bike oil once a year and use Spectro products in all my bikes. I usually ride well into November and start back up in late March. I never use Stabil and never have a problem. I'll usually completely warm up everything at least once over the winter with a short ride on a clear day.
