Not to hijack this thread, and I certainly don't want to trigger a foam vs paper debate. So, filtering ability aside, I was looking for insight on how much intake roar with pods compared to a modified lid, compared to a stock air box? My bike sounded best when the only mod was the carbon mufflers. The crossover increased noise and made it somewhat more raspy (still sounds good though, and not too annoying to the neighborhood). I'd like to free up the intake side some but not at the expense of too much more noise and the dreaded seat vibration that sometimes comes with a lot of intake roar. Thoughts from the experienced?

Righto, this is left over from the old days when the same tires were sometimes used for front & rear fitment. The rotation was reversed when mounted on the front for the exact reason Ratch said. I don't know of this practice on any modern radials. The modern front's tread patterns is also designed to shed water and make way for the rear in the rain. Reversing it would help funnel water under it (and toward the rear) Follow the arrow on the sidewall.

I've contacted rossopuro once and alpina twice about these beauties. Last I heard they said the first part of this year. The longer they take the more the price rises.

I'm afraid we're experiencing global cooling here. Sunny today but temps around 10F with wind chills -10F. Don't think I'll be riding today. Beautiful bike & countryside though, as a rider I'm envious of anywhere where things are green in February.

AFAIK there is Wrinkle or Texture. You want Texture. Don't know how much will be needed. I'm thinking this stuff has a pretty high solids content so coverage should be pretty good from one can.

Crooz, I'm in the same boat as you. I bought my LeMans in mid 2005. Last winter I thought I'd refinish the crankcase as best as I could with the engine still in the frame. At the time there was only a few bubbles and it didn't look too bad. I procrastinated long enough for the warm weather to arrive and then just left it alone. Now after another riding season it looks quite a bit worse and it's time to "just do it" as they say. I plan to do a partial disassembly to get better access to the cases and soften the paint with a heat gun. As Tom said, Harley's texture paint is the stuff others have had good luck with and that is what I'll be using. I'll keep you posted as things progress.

I think there would be interest. Light weight and sharp handling would be at least as important as triple digit horsepower. Hard to set a price, it would have to be commensurate with the components used and the form / function of the finished product. If you are going to build a high end product ala Bimota or Ghezzi-Brian, those customers (albeit smaller numbers of them) care more about quality and exclusivity than price. Look at Kenny Dreer, maybe he should of stayed small but the high asking price per unit was not his demise. Figure your costs, figure a fair profit and set a price.

I can't get over those who have high grade, completely adjustable suspension on their bikes and have never touched it. I've offered to help more than one dial things in proper and get the in response. It is not a very steep learning curve but some guys either fail to see the benefit or just don't care. Even better are the ones who's controls are not set up, brake & clutch levers at unnatural angles, miles of slop in the throttle cable, the gearshift so high that you have to lift your foot off of the peg. Makes me scratch my head.

I've been eyeing some Pazzo levers. Similar to CRGs, some different color choices. I've found no cataloging for Moto Guzzi. Anyone know if there a direct match up to a specific Ducati or another bike for both brake & clutch? Edit: sorry, shoulda searched this topic. Found old post & CRG part numbers.

I would not allow a test ride. If he dumps it, you are out. Plain & simple. As an alternative, If he wants to buy it but won't without a test ride, tell him if he buys it, you will give him a set amount of time like half an hour to return it undamaged for a refund if the bike is not as you described. This way you are both protected and it will eliminate those who are not serious buyers.

Again, we share the same experience and agree on this stuff. I remember back in the 70's I saw more than one Chrysler product with enough sludge and varnish to have the oil pump relief valve stuck closed. Those filters puffed up and blew out at the seam but the base and gasket were intact. I've never seen a gasket on a spin on fail (unless of course there were two)

Contacted Alpina again this week. They said the wheels are being tested now and should be available in the states early next year. Then said the price would be $2495. US$. I seem to remember them targeting the price around $1800 several months ago. Maybe it was wishful dreaming.

That looks great Greg, I've always leaned toward the monochromatic look. Tell me, are those new levers black or grey? It's hard to tell from this shot, at least on my screen.
