Pretty true about any woman after she's gone

    Stelvio

I rode a KLR from Prudoe bay to Anchorage. About 1200 miles, far more than half of it unpaved and have to say they are capable bikes that are pretty much bullet-proof. There were 2 KTMs with us, both had issues. 4 BMW GS' - two 650s and two 1200s, they were reliable although the 1200s were too much bike in the mud. If I were to have only one bike a GS1200 may be it. They are comfortable, have enough power, handle really well and have enough suspension for unpaved roads. Not the prettiest though...
  4. Good stuff. I like that they keep the pudding bowls on for the set.

The Stelvio is on the cover of this months Motorcycle Consumer News. (US) I have not had time to read through the test but a quick scan spots words like impressed, perfect, comfortable and excellent. Anyway, nice to see a Guzzi on the cover of anything not to mention a very favorable report.
  6. So cold the iguanas are falling out of trees in Florida http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/jan/04/co...breaking-yahoo/
  7. This story has been popping up here & there. Funny stuff. http://glossynews.com/society/201001070305...torcycle-rally/ I'm thinking those pansies will stick to throwing "blood" on rich women is furs although it would be fun to see them try this.
  8. Bring it! I remember '85. It was the last time I recall seeing Lake Michigan frozen as far as you could see.
  9. Some nice images there BFG. I came across this hunk of metal while riding south of the border last winter.
  10. I understand you are angry after her fat ass damaged your expensive wheel and all but let's excercise some self restraint Just because she was wearing manly clothing and had a butch haircut there is no reason you have to resort to name calling. Really Jaap, I didn't expect this from you of all people.
  11. Looks typical. There is very little oil above the oil ring but not between the compression rings leaving the amber discoloring. Below the oil ring on the skirt there is much more oil and it stays cooler. (no discoloring)
  12. I did the pistons with less than 10K so it is not a good yardstick. The skirts looked like new as did the crosshatch. I asked about the oil intervals because of the wear on the coating. Seems excessive to me for 27K with clean oil. Maybe it is just the way they wear.
  13. Yea, lots of reports of Guzzi guides being made of particularly hard Parmesan. I'd bet yours are bad. Judging from the pics the cylinders and pistons look pretty good I thought you were looking into Mike Rich pistons at one time? Better shaped squish - no pinging on my motor. edit- How often do you change your oil?
  14. No problem powder coating and it is by far superior to paint in terms of durability. You'll have to remove your bearings. Make sure they seal the bores where the bearings fit to keep the coating out.
  15. Carefull with that hone. Cylinders are coated.
  16. Nice Rich. The black/chrome combo is perfect.
  17. Well if you could read and comprehend, I stated the spring was working against a 2:1 ratio. Get it? Once again GuzziMoto, your usual MO. Jump in, call people idiots, then bicker endlessly. You are one hell of a contributer here.
  18. What??? As far as the rest of it. No shit, really?
  19. Sorry, I'm still foggy here. Let's say the ratio was 1:1 and you compressed the spring by 1cm and all else was equal. I'd expect the wheel movement to be 1cm. But, if the spring is working against a 2:1 ratio wouldn't the wheel movement be half?

    Agreed
  21. This is interesting and maybe I'm over thinking this. I understand the ratio and if you lengthen the shock by 1cm you would realize 2cm at the wheel but wouldn't adding 1cm preload only change the wheel by 1cm assuming it is carrying the same load and working against a 2:1 ratio?
  22. I don't know if it is available in your part of the world but Seafoam will soften it up nicely. http://www.seafoamsales.com/

Are you kidding? Just a few days reading at this forum and you have all the proof you need.
  24. From my perspective on the sidelines just reading the content of this thread, the name calling started with you. Perhaps you think people are calling you names when you read Quasimodo but the truth is, spell-check does that to your screen name. (I know, spelling and grammar are not on your list of priorities, I'm just pointing out a fact here) Back to the original topic. I'm just curious. You have piped up here to tell others they are full of it but I have not read what your personal set up is. So can you tell us what you have on your V11? Spring rates? Shock brand? Damping settings? Sag measurements? Your weight with gear? How about some useful information instead of just noise?
