I'm thinking some of you SoCal guys knew him. Seemed to be quite a guy. Died Christmas morning in his sleep. http://www.mgnoc.com/article_profiles_-_bj...guzzi_guru.html
  2. The Thruxton is what MG should have in their cross-hairs. Give the V7 enough punch and a line of accessories to further focus it as a cafe racer and they would have a winner.
  3. Don't start making adjustments just yet. It seems something altered during your tune up caused your idle problems. Changing other settings may add to your trouble. What exactly did the tune up consist of? I'd suggest going back over what was done to try to find the trouble. The plastic knob adjusts the rod to synchronize the two throttle bodies.

I've seen this too in cool weather. Not much, just a smear around the vent. Probably something to do with it being more viscous when cold. I just clean it and forget it.
  5. The V11 for me is a modern Commando. All the soul, more power, more comfort, better handling & brakes. I'll confess my Commando has been sitting on a stand in my office for the past two years. Only so much room at home so one of my higher maintenance girls got the bump. I do miss it though so a rotation is in order.
  6. Mine is an '02 without an O2. I thought they did by 04. My bad.
  7. Intercontinental mud slinging. Now we're getting somewhere.
  8. Try to put a volt meter on the battery while running and see if voltage fluctuates with the flashing & dimming of the lights. If your voltage is steady indicating battery & alternator are not at fault, then look for voltage drops on both sides of the circuit. I don't have a wiring diagram in front of me but will look later at which wires to check. There is some talk of adding a frame ground here: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...amp;hl=headlamp If all your connections are OK, as raz indicated, there is a kit you can buy or make yourself to run a relay to power your headlamp directly which makes for a bright steady headlamp. Lots of talk about that mod here: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...=1405&st=30
  9. I get closer to 40 all around. O2 sensor, TPS and temp sensor have largest influence on mileage.
  10. Never could get into the K bikes. I've ridden a couple but they just feel long and heavy compared with the R models. "Winter bike" is fitting. I ride the RT in cold, rainy weather or when the wife comes along. Excellent mount for those days. Riding solo, the Italians get the call most of the time though. More heart & soul.
  11. If the ramp is red and left in the sun to fade to pink can it be restored? You also need to spec the ramp width. Is a wider ramp for poseurs? Will it work with the earlier wheels?
  12. Those reverse megs would be unique. They are a bit narrow and polished for the V11's muscular lines though. I'm a fan of the carbon cans, but then again I'm biased.
  13. V11- good cleaning, oil change. Aprilia - Ohlins rear shock. oil change. maybe new mufflers, maybe. BMW - oil change, check valves, t-body sync, abs, brake & clutch fluid flush, brake pads if needed. trans & rear end fluid change. tires. Husky - jet carb, oil change. I hope that's it......
  14. That's the thing, nobody has a different view of this. Other than the media, absolutely nobody cares where the lil' tiger sticks it or that he wadded up his car. Even his wife will learn to live with it just like Michael Jordan's wife, Jesse Jackson's wife, and countless others. Seems they like the money/fame so much themselves that they just can't bring themselves to leave. The rest of us will just be pelted with this story until they can squeeze no more out of it. On a side note, did I hear something about Michael Jackson death? Is it true?
  15. Sure is quiet around here. No technical bickering. No left vs right wars. No name calling. No rickyracer pontificating. No drunken outbursts. No personal attacks. No international incidents. No probationary periods. No political incorrectness What fun is that?
  16. I always open to about 1/4 throttle while cranking and it fires quickly. I never use the fast idle cam.
  17. Good sign that the owner mentioned it. I'd guess it is the timing cover gasket. Quite a few have leaked. I noticed mine before a planned ride and did the same thing. Cleaned it and injected sealer into the seam as a quick, temporary fix until I'd have time to pull the cover. I forgot about it and the leak hasn't come back. The proper repair is now on my winter maintenance list. Thanks for making extra work for me.
