  1. Of course, we have to consider the feelings of our vegetables too. After that, it'll be building materials I suppose.
  2. Less talk, more gawk.
  3. Uses no space on Jaap's server.
  4. I know every word to "Blues Theme" by Davie Allan & The Arrows by heart. Actually, so do you. 'Cause there ain't any...
  5. The chain drive is at the rear of the cylinders to improve cooling. The 1200 motors have triple the oil pump capacity of earlier big blocks with additional passages in the cylinder hear for oil cooling and oil spray under the pistons and who knows what else, but Guzzi is apparently serious about shuttling horsepower heat away from critical areas of the engine so that more power can be produced. I'll bet that the OHC chain drive implementation is a sorry bitch to work on though. Let's hope the chain tensioner is a much better design than some of the Guzzi implementations of the past - like virtually every big block Guzzi 2V engine ever made...
  6. I hear you there. After moneypitting the V11 Sport to bring it back to life, expending a small fortune on the Sport 1100i and the relatively small amount maintaining the California, I'm letting them go. Frankensport goes to my son, the Sport 1100i get's the fast stuff removed and mostly returned to stock to be sold, same for the California. I have my deposit in on a Norge. Maybe in December if the dealer's prediction is correct. Doesn't really matter, it's winter and that's the Ural's element.
  7. Loud pipes save lives! MG is going to be the first to do it right and aim the exhausts forward!
  8. Ducati footpeg + file = footpeg at 1/2 the cost of MG. Visually different though.
  9. I prefer Tri-Lube which, like faceshields for Nolan N-100 helmets, appears to be non-existent in Oklahoma.
  10. Hmm, attachment size limit in effect. Will carry on with replies. Oh yeah, this is frame damage from a straight on collision going 20mph into the rear of a car going 15mph in reverse. Obviously, it doesn't take too much to screw up the frame. This same accident also broke the front engine mount points on the front engine cover and cracked the transmission case where it was bolted to the frame. I don't need to go into the fork and wheel damage or post photos of same. If you've had an accident on a spine frame Guzzi, the spine is where you want to start checking first. The bike in Arizona that impacted the rear of a car and then burned had the bottom part of the frame folded up into the steering head so neatly you would have thought it was stock. It wasn't. Pretend you're a chiropracter for motorcycles, whatever, but check the spine thoroughly after any sort of impact accident.
  11. The V11 Sport swingarm seems like a very robust piece of hardware. Can you actually brake hard enough with the rear brake for the stock brake mount to affect the swingarm?
  12. I am very sorry to hear about your brother. I hope he shares your ride in spirit.

  14. One of the best tips I've seen in years! Thanks Richard.
  15. The older Daytona RS's/Sport 1100's don't have the bushing which would explain why the replacements don't have them either. You should contact Harpers and see if they have the correct version. If not, go to a hardward store and find a bushing that will fit. I've got to do the exact same thing to upgrade a set I had powder coated. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. If you want to persist with the bushing removal, I'd use an easy out after getting the assembly hot. Far less damage overall than pliers.
  16. Conceit hell. You're dreaming in Technicolor but you're cross-eyed!
  17. Speaking of tooth. Isn't Arkansas where they invented the "tooth brush" because anywhere else it would have been the "teeth brush"? Sorry Rocker59, couldn't resist...

FrankenSport used to be a V11 Sport TT, one of 15. How "lesser" of a variant is that?
  19. I don't think of guys when I see an image like this. After I've ogled it enough, then I'll post it here for the guys though. What I want to know is... where can I get some more images of Canada's tallest tower? With the girl of course. The tower isn't the least bit important.
  20. Dirt road? Must be the Deep South.
  21. Does your headlight work?
  22. One of these days I'm going to get back to work on one of the broken ones I have and document it. FWIW, if you look up the post on working on these things (I'm done looking for it, done it too many times trying to be a nice guy, but it's here somewhere) and you break the glass, I had several replacements cut for me and I'll be happy to sock it to you for the whole $2 each faceplate cost me. Mercenary aren't I? I have a bone stock unused tach somewhere too if you can't repair the one you've got. Somewhere. In the shed. In a box. Buried. Deep.
  23. Wow. I learn a little every day. However, the ground for the regulator of the Daytona RS, Sport 1100 and Sport 1100i models is the fairing mounting bracket. As the mounting bolts get some corrosion from age the ground return gets bad causing the regulator to see a false ground reference and jacking the output voltage up as a result. Run a good heavy gauge wire from the regulator mounting bolt to the engine or transmission to avoid any problems along that line. I ran additional grounds up to the instruments on my 1100i to cure the crappy ground there bypassing the solder problem entirely. I didn't know where it (the solder lump) was so I'm glad you've found that particular problem area. I suspect though, that you're regulator ground is may also be running through the solder lump at this point and to preclude any further possible problems, you should add the extra ground I've described.
