  1. I'm pretty certain it's for the V11 Sport, but just in case, how do you tell them apart? I'd go down to the shed to look but we just battened up the house for severe weather and maybe tornadoes. Gotta have something exciting to do when you're not riding... Since the parts are in a box, I can get them out (later) and take some measurements and scan them into the computer and send that to you. No need for you to disassemble yours to use for patterns. But... I'm really going to need your instructions on how to install this thing properly. I'm guessing that all I really need to know is which spacer offsets to which side to clear the crossover. Since I've got to pull the rear wheel to change the tire in the next week or two, I can try re-installing the stand at that time. I'm going to have to paint it though, my frame is powder coated silver. You do know that Billy Bob will put that 141mph Eldo to shame don't you?
  2. I'm missing the two little metal links that have two holes in each of them. Had TLM bothered with instructions or a parts list to begin with, I would've known they were missing. They could have been missing from the git go and MI wouldn't have known either without a parts list/instructions. It was nearly a year before I got around to trying to install the stand (rebuilding wrecked V11 Sports sucks) and by that time, I would assume the time limit for returns would have expired. I wanted a center stand, it just hasn't worked out as planned. FWIW, MI has done very well on everything I've ever ordered (except for those two missing bits). The TLM cenerstand for the Sport 1100i worked perfectly - even without instructions. Did you get the stand to fit with a stock crossover?
  3. Watch out for railroad tracks. I had 8 straps on my Sport 1100i and it still flipped sideways when I hit a bad grade crossing at 35 mph (I forgot the bike was on the trailer. My bad...). It hung up like a spider in all of those straps though and suffered no worse than bending in the muffler mount a tiny bit. The head protector made a pretty good ding in the trailer though. I know it's spring, but if you're in an icy area, be especially careful when unloading the bike. I pitched my V11 Sport tailfirst into the driveway a couple of months ago when it slid off of the ramp while backing it down. Too slippery, especially from the back of the pick up truck. I should've used my trailer - much lower.
  4. Have you ever heard a Bub exhaust? After a few miles with it you'll probably want to pitch it over a cliff. They also drag sooner than stock in a corner according to a guy I know that has one.
  5. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to fit the one I bought from Moto International. Then a forum member here gave me his and I found out the Moto International didn't even send me a complete unit! That blows a $265+ hole in your wallet real quick, especially since I had cancelled it several months before it arrived and suddenly it showed up one day and nicely charged to my credit card. They're real nice guys up there at MI, but methinks they're crowded to the point of distraction in that small shop... I didn't get that one to fit either but after taking it back off discovered that the spacers are different widths and perhaps it would have worked if I had swapped them. I elected to leave it off at that point and may get around to it later (it would make more space in the shed if it were vertical when parked). Meanwhile, I have a box with 1.95 TLM centerstands.
  6. I think you ought to delete this thread and then we'll work on the 850cc Griso and Breva.
  7. Very nice. Makes me seriously wish I could weld. You could even take it one step further and put some skis on it with a knobby tire at the rear and use it in snow. Just kidding. Really.

  10. Some V11 Sports came with the ECU mounted plug side up. I don't know if there's room to do that on the later ones to do that. My 2001 came plug side up though and the wiring, while squished flat, doesn't appear worse for the experience.
  11. With dedicated wiring, probably not. Not everyone takes that approach though and accidents have been known to happen.
  12. Ah, the killer Euro Sport Sedan with front and rear engines...
  13. Always remove the negative battery terminal first! Period. After that, there isn't anything to worry about but if you're still concerned, just unplug the ECU. The ECU case is grounded and short of arc welding to it it's not likely you're going to damage the internals. I've actually done what you're worried about and the ECU didn't suffer anything more than a tiny mark on the case. It's charging the battery that tends to be the circumstance where things go awry. Again, you just unplug the ECU before doing that kind of maintenance.

  17. Well, the engine looks a tad awkward because we're used to seeing the finning continue all of the way down to the cases and on this one it doesn't, but I wouldn't call the engine ugly by any stretch. The deeply valenced fenders are ungainly but the muffler... oh that muffler, ewww.... reminiscent of that recent post of the incredibly stupid Gatling gun "spinner" that appeals to the bling-bling-got-no-brains crowd.
  18. Is this multiple guess? Different than any modern Guzzi? Hmmm A working Veglia tachometer? or that nifty rear hinge seat mount with the eclectic heavy gauge seat stay? And a real bench seat too at that... or an oil filler cap from a lawn mower? no sidestand? Parts support? Okay, I give up. What is it that's special about this olive drab beast?
  19. They're not even gell cells. They're a "starved electrolyte" construction with damp paper between the plates. The U.S. Post Office classifies them as "dry cells" and they're allowed to be shipped through the mail without any special handling. That said, yes, they can leak. My very first Hawker Odyssey started leaking around the terminals after I wrenched on it a bit too hard. My second leaked after it got too much pressure on the case (horizontally mounted on its side in a Sport 1100i) because the owners manual I had under the battery strap transferred the weight of my wife riding pillion directly to the case and the case separated (my wife won't ride on it anymore anyway, so that problem will not arise again).

Teo retired and moved to Australia leaving the business to nephews or sons or something like that.
  21. I've never been able to get the cardboard valve cover gaskets (or oil pan sump gasket) to last for more than 4 years before getting too brittle to re-use. Never had a leak either. Now, what was the question...
  22. The truly hot machininist would go get a pair of old Guzzi branded Benelli 254/4's and build a new crankcase and crank and have a real, honest to God, 500cc Moto Guzzi V8. This isn't any more radical than that V8 down in Australia a couple of years ago. That one used a bunch of Yamaha parts if memory serves me correctly.
  23. Pop it off with a very small flat blade or jewelers screwdriver.
  24. These are from Dennis Kirk. I thought maybe I'd run across another source of replacements but that looks to have been wishful thinking. I don't need any with my assortment of bikes, but others would. Sometimes, you just can't find the part commercially. The IC chip in the earlier tachs is such an item. There is no commercial source for the 14 pin type that I've ever been able to locate, likewise a pin-out for the little beast.
