  1. Simpler than that really. Four of the relays are single-pole-single-throw. One relay - the starter relay - is single-pole-double-throw. In the NC (normally closed) position, the starter relay routes power to the headlight. When the engine is being started, no power is routed to the headlight. If you've been moving relays around - and we did - mixing them up and putting a single-throw relay in the starter position will effectively disconnect the headlight. Dollars to doughnuts that's what happened yesterday. I didn't know Phil managed to find the correct battery locally after I left his house or I could've gone back and we probably would have gotten it right. He's got a beautiful bike. Now we just have to get it back on the road. This is why its a good idea to replace ALL of the relays with the double throw variety.
  2. A proposal from the folks at IWAN-Bikes
  3. If this is a comparison, I can't figure it out. Motociclismo

    American Guzzisti

mphcycles - from WildGuzzi forum as of today the Breva 1100 is slated to begin shipping from the US warehouse on monday the 5th of December, 2005. Just reporting what I am told, by the guy who oughtta know. With any luck we will have them by the end of next week.
  6. Orangeokie is out of town until Friday. I'll try to get over there again when he gets back and help him get this resolved. If it's not one problem, it's another. Or more. Just a Guzzi thing.

    Nice project

Way beyond the scope of my experience.
  8. The bullet connectors are under the tank about where your fingers are. If you're back in town Phil, I can run on down and give you a hand.
  9. It's a clever way of disguising a still.
  10. If you have motorcycles, why in hell would you need herb?

    Griso

I read somewhere last week one one of the forums I forage through that Ewan has other Guzzies. He just didn't use one on his trek around the world. I don't know that he rates the disparaging remarks offered above, at least he has shown the class to buy the Griso - a move that would run completely counter to the norm in Hollywood.

    Griso

Let's all write him and suggest that he go around the world on a motorcycle again. Only this time, on a Guzzi!
  13. Oops. My bad. Blew that one didn't I?
  14. The RaceCo crank should be the same stroke as yours (2mm over stock). This is one of the last ones made that have the tapered nose for the alternator stuff if you want to go streetable.
  15. I've got a virgin RaceCo stroker crank (82mm) with the tapered street nose on it. One of the last batch ever built. I bought it from Charlie Cole a while back for a future project but I've put a lot of my projects on hold while trying to decide how to acquire a Griso when they arrive. That includes forgoing a stroker engine for the Bugswatter. So... I could probably be talked out of the crank if you're interested in doing an enlarged 4V. Zebulon and the rest can tell you more about the pros and cons of the enlarged 4V's.
  16. You want exclusive? MGNA created two specialty V11 Sports in 2001, the CF and the TT. 15 of each. Not too big a deal really. The TT is basically a silver V11 Sport with a black tank and seat cowl and the CF had a bunch of carbon fiber bits but I don't recall what the paint scheme was. MG is really kind of good at this game. 32 blue Sport 1100's. 200 Sport Corsas and so forth. The Guzzidom analog of a Dodge Daytona or Charger or whatever. At least the Tenni's are readily identifiable as such. So are the Scuras, Corsa Rosso, Corsa Negro, Rosso Mandello. Just enough different to qualify as unique without departing too far from the norm. As if any Guzzi would be in the norm compared to far eastern iron or even the Teutonic showboats. Makes you wonder why anyone with an American two wheeled Wurlitzer Barco lounger would consider themselves and their bikes "unique" when they're producing literally hundreds of thousands of them each year.
  17. I think this is a concept bike from Rafael Dedal in Sydney, Australia. Sweet!
  18. Maybe there are enough spares available and MG has just crushed the old dies and molds for making them. That would free up a lot of space at the plant and allow them either more space or to tear down some of the older buildings that are beyond repair and build new facilities. This would be a positive over all. At this point, it's just a rumor. We'll just have to wait and see.
  19. Well, I've dropped out of the market for the Breva 1100 and put those funds towards a Ural sidehack rig. The missus says to get a Griso - when I can afford it. Hah! I just retired, I'll have to sell a few bikes before I can consider a Griso now.
  20. I forget your description of the crash but I seem to recall it went down an embankment a bit. Is that correct? If it was nose down for a while, it could be that the timing chest probably overfilled from oil draining forward. If so, it will rectify itself. It is also possible that the crankcase vent hose ripped or is loose from the impact and that you're seeing oil from that coming down upon the engine. Very misleading, but it has happened to me.
  21. Most anything you'd ever want to add to those hydraulic jacks can be found at Dunwill Jacks. They even have some Moto Guzzi adaptors. The one for the California is great. The one for the V11's is less so. Not cheap either but I don't bother with tie down straps unless I'm engaged in some mechanical malfeasance requiring more stability.
  22. It looks to me like the conical thing is a brush guard type weather protector on the handlebar. Probably not a bad idea considering its native climate.
  23. Hey Mike. Good job! I got to that site while in the process of researching the Ural Patrol I have on order. That's right - I'm defecting!!! Or is that defective? Ah, never mind, I'll be in good company hanging with Rich Maund (vicariously, until we get to a rally at the same time).
  24. What is it, where was it made, how big or how many were made? No points given for correct answers, let's just see what comes up on the "Meter of Absurdity". I hope you all do well as I'm out of town for about 13 days and won't be able to post the answer.
