I like the MG tank bag but question the utility of something that zps open at the front. It doesn't work well if you're moving. I won't go into what I'm doing opening a tank bag while in motion but I suspect that I'm not the only person who's ever done so.

Believe it or not, with this stand you can remove the porkchops without entirely disassembling the bike. I know, I did it - but I don't remember how Something about supporting the swing arm and only doing one side at a time... BTW, Craftsman (Sears) has just released a Home Powder Coat System. Craftsman Powder Coat System This would make the porkchop endeavor a half-weekend chore. In addition to the powdercoat setup, you'll need a sand blaster and probably walnut shells to do the dirty work as well as a good shop area and a small oven (toaster oven is ok) that will never be used for foodstuffs again. Obviously, it's cheaper to send a series of small parts off to a powdercoat firm if you're just doing a small quantity but if you start embellishing small parts periodically as you work on the bike, this would be a pretty convenient approach. I'll put it on my Christmas list so my wife can laugh at me...

Yeah. If only I had the correct schematic for an EV there. I'm working on fixing that though.

The ECU case should have a ground wire at one of the mounting bolts. An intermittent brush of the +12V lead across the case really shouldn't fry the ECU - just make lost of pretty sparks and ruin your composure. I've actually had the same thing happen and the ECU still runs just fine. Statiscally then, we could say that an ECU failure only occurs 50% of the time when the case is brushed by the battery lead. Lousy odds. Note to self: Avoid doing this again.

The domain belongs to Greg Bender. He's a fellow Guzzisti that offered to host these schematics when it looked like my PacBell site would go away.

Not 50 years. 50 Guzzi wiring schematics. Moto Guzzi Wiring Schematics. Some guys just have plain weird hobbies... :^)

I can't count how many times I've taken off on the Sport 1100i and forgotten to retract that damn sidestand. I've just been lucky that nothing bad has happened. MG used to offer an upgrade kit (Corsa's already got it) for a paltry $134 for the kit! I'm quite certain that I can do it for less. One of these days. Maybe. Or not.

Yank the tank and clean the clutch switch connectors or bypass it entirely. Turning the handle bars is the first indication that you have this specific problem. Those connectors are under the tank at the left front. Look for a white/black and a black pair of wires with bullet connectors. They're also shown as #59 on V11 Sport schematic.. They're shown on this diagram and not on the one from the owners manual. This may not be your specific problem, but it is the first best choice to check given the description.

i. The engine on my V11 Sport is far livelier and charismatic than that of my Sport 1100i. I suspect that it is due to a better ECU as well as higher compression and slightly different head designs. I don't know whether the carb sports and the sporti's share the same head or not although that would seem logical - which throws the notion right out of the window when considering Italian design. If I fail to get a new VIN assigned to FrankenSport, then that engine and wiring will go into my Sport 1100i. I hope not, the intent is to get the V11 Sport back on the road, finish the custom fairing stuff and then ship it off to England to my son, providing I can get it all done before the USAF transfers him back stateside. Meanwhile, the V11 Sport project is stalled while I await a resolution from the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

I don't neccessarily agree with the statement that EFI can never operate as smoothly as carbs. It does seem unlikely to do so when using the Weber Marelli components though. The Sport 1100's have a more svelte appearance than the V11 Sport but the ergonomics are far more radical. Almost the only way to make a Sport 1100 of any sort tolerable is to fit some Helibars to raise and move the handgrips back a tad. I haven't seen a set of Helibars for sale for the Sport 1100's for some time. Alleviating the seating position will likely require some fairly expensive after market adjustable bars.

There are several areas where the Sport 1100i is better than the carb sport - but - the Sport 1100i is notorious for FI problems as well as some electrical maladies that are easily remedied. These can be cured, you just need to be aware of what you're getting into before you buy. Personally, I would not buy the carb version. YMMV.

You can get an entire 7" headlight from MG Cycle for $175.

There used to be an urban legend about dropping moth balls into your gas to increase the octane but I didn't know you could do that with Vicodin.

What he said. I've had the pan gasket last four years before getting to brittle to re-use. MG Cycle has some nice tools and one of them is ideal for the pan.

Formotion Motorcycle Gauges The bike has the stick-on units. I've had some and they were okay for a couple of years. The early ones like mine were problematic with the needle paint shedding or the needles just plain falling off. They were useless at night too so I had to build some cobby looking little illuminators to shine LED's down on them to be able to use them. Formotion now offers an EL illuminated clock, but no thermometer. They're not too bad for the price. YMMV.

What bits did you break on your bike? I have a used set of 2000 V11 Sport Marzocchi fork tubes that were re-valved for Mike Stewart available.

I know who he is, but haven't met him yet. Hey Phil, get yer Goose in gear and join the Okieguzzi yahoo group.

Running one 55 watt extra light would be pushing it. Run two 55 watt extra lights and you will be pushing it!

You just pegged 98% of the HD's in the USA - except that they are not reasonably priced.

A friend of mine out in California has a 97 Sport 1100i that has given him the same problems. He changed to the Agostini chain tensioner and states that 95% of the symptoms are gone. The Agostini chain tensioner is about 1/3 the cost of the OEM part. I've bought one for my incredibly fouled up 97 Sport but haven't yet installed it. I'll let you know if that is a solution when I do, but I'm in no particular hurry.

The Breva was supposed to be here by now but California had to bollix the certification by demanding a re-design of the tank spill over or something like that. Back to the drawing boards. That Guzzi can even produce a new design and get it implemented in less than 60 days speaks volumes compared to past Guzzi efforts.

I talked to the Aprilia guys yesterday while I was trying to find out when the Breva will show in the USA (late October). They said the Griso was on line for 2006 (should be a 2007 model). My very uneducated guess on that is that it's October all over again. Isn't that when Chevy traditionally releases their new pick-em-ups?
