According to the knowledgable person down at my local Ducati shop, the VIN and engine numbers need the manufacturers origin paperwork. I don't have any since mine didn't come from the manufacturer. If MG replaces cases or a frame, they provide the paperwork. It may not matter in a different state, it's just that California is pretty strict on these kinds of things according to the shop person.
  2. Ah, er, this sounds dumb... but, start the engine and then push down firmly on the tach housing. If it jumps to life, than it's just a broken mounting stud. If that's the case I can re-post the instructions on how to fix it.

I cannot get the 1996 Sport 1100i frame through a California inspection (Oklahoma is an unknown) and if I ride it and get caught, I lose the bike. Maybe we should discuss a frame/engine/pink slip swap so that I'll have matching numbers and you can part out the other stuff. I have the old bent frame, so numbers for parting wouldn't be a problem.
  4. I don't even like my Guzzi cruiser (wife does though), much less a pork barrel from another manufacturer. Something more exotic appeals. I wonder if Motorrad disses the MV Augusta F4 1000S? I wouldn't mind one of those. Not a Guzzi of couse, but simply pure Italian. Joe Camarda says I'm nuts. Maybe I should wait for an MGS02...

Check with Pete Morcombe Reboot Guzzi Spares in the U.K. (France actually, his web site explains. I sure as hell won't try to). Pete has bailed me out lots of times and he has had V11 Sports occasionally.
  6. Nothing, as long as they're on a racing sidecar rig. Yee Hah!!!

Helluva nice place you have there Jaap! Perfect backdrop for a gorgeous bike
  8. Nothing surpasses a telescopic front end for absorbing bumps...
  9. Before Rev-Mag went subscription, I downloaded every bike/girl combo they had. Every so once in a while, when I lust for a Norton Manx or a Quota, those are the best pictures I have. The babes keep getting in the way of the bikes though... Guzzi content...

There's something svelte and sexy and black and gold. Black and silver, not so much.
  11. I'm waiting for someone to reverse the color scheme on an early green V11 Sport. You know, green frame, red bike. Upset stomach...
  12. I'd go for "viscous", but nobody here seems particularly "vicious". It's possible that the Euro centric jokes don't get posted here much because Americans - just - don't - get - them. I sure do enjoy the travelogs and picture posting of the Euro set though because that continent is pretty intense for things to do, places go and people to meet whereas the USA and Canada are stretched out across a fairly large area and things of interest tend to be much further apart as a result.
  13. Don't fret about it. At least your Eagle has something to eat...
  14. Go here http://www.swva.net/jkenny/ You won't be disappointed.
  15. Uh huh. And that's why I'm moving to Oklahoma. Not much in the way of twisties unfortunately, but the residents there are super amiable.
  16. Well first, they're gonna set the valve lash...
  17. Gives credence to the whole "Big Bang" theory of the universe doesn't it?
  18. How much would you want for both items?
  19. I take it that this is/was not an ECU from a late (really late) model Guzzi?
  20. Just javascripting or java and javascripting?
  21. Boring? Hell no. You do 135 in a school zone. Makes it more interesting. Actually, I did the 130+ thing one time out in the country after just exiting the school zone. The kids were all making "wick it on gestures", so naturally, I obliged. The other two times I passed the 130 mph mark was on a short 3/4 mile straight approaching the freeway on the way home and the other was on Hwy 32 between Deer Creek and Soda Springs. Very little straightaway and probably one of the prettiest roads in California for a sport bike (IMHO). California Highway 32
  22. Mokelumne Hill. I can't pronounce it either. Great area to ride in though. If only my V11 Sport were reliable and I had more time. Too busy showing the house and packing. By the end of May though, I should be able to fit in a ride or too, so let me know if one appears to be taking shape.
  23. I was going to bid on some of these parts, but the merits of joining yet another eBay location sort of negates the joy. It's troublesome to do the postage/money transfer thing with anywhere in Europe. The U.K. I can handle because I can route stuff through my son who is stationed there. So the question is: Would anyone from the German side of the board like to make a bid for the wiring harness for me and we can square up costs and postage as soon as the bid is finished? That would be: wiring harness/hauptkabelbaum PM me if you're willing. Not a lot of time left and for that and I apologize.
  24. Apparently, the PayPal portion of the process now just says that they "Cannot recover the funds" and lets you go your merry way. This I find out because I got burned last week for $85 on an ECU. One of the other guys got burned $760. At least I used my credit card for the payment , I may be able to get it back.

    Breva 1100

The MGNA rep told me last year that the current Breva 1100 would be followed by a "naked" version and then a full up touring version. The engine is rated at 84 HP whereas the V11 Sport is more like 91 and the California types are somewhere in the 70's. These are not real world horsepower of course or we wouldn't have so many posters buying PCIII's and poking holes in their airboxes, but that would place the Breva 1100 engine solidly between the two extremes. Do lighter internals such as pistons, rods and clutch (did the clutch change?) really lessen the torque or is the faster revving engine merely masking the torque. I await the opportunity to take a test ride. In the longer run, I suppose I would wait for the full up touring version as I have a greater need for that than a semi-sport or semi-cruiser bike. But that tank... is just butt ugly. It's going to take a massive tank bag to hide that monstrosity, hopefully the touring version will hide it behind additional bodywork.
