  1. You suggested it to WHO??? Kind of got the wrong forum there don't you Bill?
  2. Oooh, this could be fun! I could be persuaded (by sufficient and largely exorbitant amounts of cash) to swap out the ported heads on my Sport 1100i for stock ones. Never gonna happen of course, but let's see where this one goes. The only reason I'd consider it is that I want to buy a boat. Call it $1750 (guess what the boat costs...) and you'd have a set of Mike Rich Stage II ported heads, dual-plugged and valve pockets recessed to accommodate a hotter than street-typical cam. They only have 300 miles on them. Now guess what kind of boat does "wheelies" (actually, "proppies") in the water and is about the same size as a motorcycle.
  3. +1 on the Daytonas. I bought 'em 'cause they were waterproof. I'll bet Paul bought them because he has a Daytona
  4. If the bike stalls a lot plus having a lot of trouble in the 2500- 3500 range, I would lean towards replacing the tensioner first and then consider some of the other options. At idle, mine would try to run backwards for a stroke making it stall. If the tensioner is slack, no amount of fiddling with any other part of the ignition system will make any appreciable improvement. My tensioner was so slack that the chain could change the timing a bunch just by bunching up. Above 4000 rpm, the pull is more constant and the chain won't have much opportunity to misbehave but down in the lower rpms, it can play havoc with the timing. There is an after market tensioner available as well as the stock one. The after market one is less expensive and from what I've heard, a better unit. YMMV though. Changing the cam chain tensioner isn't too onerous a job. I changed the chain and tensioner in about 2 hours. I bought a chain from MPH (BMW stuff) with a master link which made the job relatively easy.
  5. Same symptoms I had on my 97 Sporti. It ran like sh!t after 58,000 miles. I spent about $3000 getting heads redone, changing sensors, computers, what have you. Then I changed the cam chain and tensioner. Now it idles. With all of the changes, it still needs work, but I believe the very basic problem was the tensioner. I'd start there then work up the diagnostics food chain.
  6. You should check the headstock on your bike first. I don't think you'll find the fairing mount point. Cafe Sports and some of the later V11 Sport variants had it and perhaps some very, very early V11 Sports. I know my 2001 didn't have the mount point and I would have had to had one welded on to accommodate the fairing hardware.
  7. I looked at the posting and it was $700. I momentarily had a lapse of sanity and wondered how it would look on my Norge. Sanity has returned however and I'm not plagued by that vision anymore. That fairing would look good on a Scura though. Black and gold. A good match for the new V7 Classic.
  8. The carb sport 1100's had two small batteries wired in parallel. That allowed for sufficient cranking current with batteries that would fit in the space under the seat. As of 1997, the Sport 1100i had one AGM battery that had enough cranking current to reduce the battery count to one. All of the subsequent V11 Sports, LeMans, Coppa Italias what have you, have that same configuration.
  9. Sorry guys, I still say you've got a ways to go to beat this one: Nice engine though.
  10. Sorry Jaap, but the prototype Morbidelli V6 would easily take all ten places.
  11. A battery tender will NOT give a deep charge to a AGM battery. Put it on a standard car charger on the 2A setting and leave it for a day, then see if you can do multiple starts.

It's not a center stand, it's a shop stand. I've dealt with DAS once by email. They're really nice people but they only accept bank transfers, not VISA, PayPal etc. At the time, bank transfers cost $42. I was buying a fender for about $110. That's expensive but sometimes there are no alternatives. Here's their contact info. 13. Not yet. I have a spare set of throttle bodies to experiment with though. That ought to alleviate my baser fears but I'm in no hurry to work on that with so many other projects in the wings.
  14. Ignore them. They're out of date, have errors and are free on the web anyway.
  15. Your English is fine. I know maybe three words of Italian and I sincerely doubt that I can pronounce even them correctly.
  16. The (early) Daytona and Sport 1100/100i/Daytona RS fairings have to be trimmed quite a bit to clear a stock V11 Sport tank. I've already done this to an early Daytona fairing but the bike has moved on to my son leaving me with a cache of brackets, fairings, windshields, lowers, headlights etc to do the modification. Honestly, I'm not certain that it can actually be done because the V11 Sport tank is so wide that some very special clipons would be necessary and the result might be low, wide and uncomfortable. However, if you're in some sort of masochistic state and want to pursue such a venture, PM me. I also have a sub-frame and rear seat from the 1100i series that would bolt up (awkwardly, especially the wiring) and I'm less inclined to part with those but, as always, money speaks volumes... V11 Sport with an Airtech Sport 1100i fairing jammed loosely in place. And the lovely beast that got me started down this path:
  17. The seals are available through your friendly local Yamaha dealer, part number 256-14997-00. Minimum order was ten though so I wound up buying $37 worth or something like that. Worst part, I don't know for certain they're the right seals as I haven't rebuilt any throttle bodies yet. I don't remember where, when or who posted the original post either. However, if you're interested in trying some out, PM me and perhaps I can reduce my "parts inventory" a bit.
  18. Quoted from wildguzzi 16 July 2008: in MCN(england) today, guzzi will launch new cruiser model(s )this fall with a 1400 cc 8 valve engine which will also be fitted into an updated norge. The launch will coinside with the american relaunch of aprilla and their dealer network(combined?).Vague i know but thats all it says. John Hooper
  19. The 2009 HD specs are out and except for the HD 1200 and the V-Rod, not a one of them lists more than 67 HP.
  20. I always check the origination directory on these sort of things. You missed one!
  21. Milky? The stuff is a purty red color. Milky must have been "Maxx Mazda - Resident Asshole"'s thought process...
  22. Back in the day, I had a 50cc Italjet "Vampire" road racer. My buddy had a BSA 250cc "Beagle". Laverda's were sold as "American Eagles" for a while in the USA in the early 1970's although I'm not certain that would count.
  23. SWMBO and I saw "Spamalot" last week. Very funny.
