There was some mention a year ago or so of a two valve MGS, but it was to be called the MGS02. Makes sense. At least as much sense as we ever get from MG these days. As for Ghezzi, he's very likely correct. When the first announcements for the water cooled engine were made (how long ago that was!!!), there was mention of a chain drive version in addition to a cassette style transmission etc, etc. Then the new Boss of MG at the time decided the futures were in scooters and blew all of those notions out of the window. Somewhere on the Anima Guzzista site, you can find an interview with the designer of the VA10 engine that may give a better insight into this stuff. Actually, since that particular engine still exists and is probably still viable, MG/Piaggio may exert a little practical intelligence and buy back into it. Who knows? With the new owners anything is possible, although I rather suspect we'll see less, not more Moto Guzzi production. If Ducati had pulled it off, that might have been a very different story.

If we're lucky, maybe they'll go by a scrap yard while the magnet is active...

Prior to the V11 Sport models, the late model Guzzi's had a loop of wire that (electrically) ran between the starter and the voltage regulator that had a single contact connector in between the two points. Physically, this wire ran up to the front of the bike where the connector was, and then looped back to the rear. My guess is that this was the electrical point where you would include an ammeter on a Guzzi. Few Guzzi models have had ammeters though and I suspect that the wiring harness design was somewhat of a holdover from earlier decades. That connector does not appear to be in the schematics for the newer models, although Guzzi has a tendency in their schematics to leave things out, so you never know...

V11LeMans site thread from owner of broken shock

Sorry to hear about Duchess Dave. She was a really sweet individual.

Well, I'm clueless. Periodically, I go to reply to a post - and receive an error stating I don't have permissions to reply to that post. I guess he wants an email reply. Since I don't have what he wants, I'll just give the general information that applies to us all. So, for Beauchemin's benefit (from a post long ago in a universe far, far away...). ------------------------------------------------------- Okay, okay. So I'm a cheap bastard... I went to my local Ducati/Buell dealer (some combo eh?) and bought some Ducati parts to put the V11 Sport back together. 45610081A LH Footrest $29.39 45610101A RH Footrest $29.39 62610031A Lever,Clutch/Brake $25.99 And a Buell turn signal: Y0504.02A8 Turn Signal, RH/Front $5.28 A Napolean bar end mirror $30.95 and there was a shop discount on all of this stuff as well. The footrests will fit right on if the spring is left off, otherwise, some modification is needed. The Buell turn signal likewise requires some modification if you're going to substitute for the Guzzi one. The mirror get's the Mike Stewart treatment to mount it on the hand lever pivot pin (Thanks Mike! - much more effective mirror set-up than the CRG's). ------------------------------------------------------- As for the shift lever, I'm holding on to my spare, I seem to have a tendency to break things. A really good source for these sort of parts is rebootguzzispares. Just email Pete Morcombe and tell him what you need. I'm ging to split his address across a couple of lines to slow down the spammers. "Pete Morcombe" @ hotmail.com> BTW, stock mirrors suck big time. Give some serious consideration to the modified Napoleans. Look great, work better.

Now showing: Stanley "Guzzi" Kubrick's "Full Metal Battery"
-
The first time I had to replace the battery in my Sport 1100i, I paid MG $168 for it. At the time, the Sport 1100i and a few select HD's were the only bikes using this type of battery. At least they're more common now and there are more places and better prices available. Dave's found the best price yet.
-
You're right, I meant to write Odyssey, but in my usual mental confusion, failed to force my fingers to follow my thoughts. As far as your battery source goes though, there are Odyssey models specifically for motorcycles: Sounds like your source doesn't want to cover warranty replacements. Odyssey Motorycycle Batteries But I will be more specific. The PC545 is the recommended size for the V11 Sport and Sport 1100i etc.
-
I think the recommended Genesis battery is the P545. Always attach the negative (common) leads last. That way, if your wrench contacts something while attaching the positive leads, nothing will happen.

I've had it running both stock and with the My16M. The bike runs equally bad on either unit indicating a fundamental problem with the bike itself. When my forks get back from rebuild this week, I hope to start yet again to resove the problem. It's driving me nuts... When I get the V11 Sport running again ('ril soon now, I keep telling myself), I'll make the internal jumper change on the My15M and try that too. I don't expect to see too much difference, but I do want to see it run. At least on the V11 Sport, swapping the computers isn't such an onerous task.

Hey Enzo's back! Did you find out what was keeping you from logging in?

Todd, is this in Ramona, or somewhere else? -
And why not. If he's running a P8 computer, he isn't going to have a problem (if it's the bike I'm thinking of, it's a 97 with the P8). The P8's on the California's in general, behave absolutely normal. No hiccups. This is Apples and Oranges. Sorry. Even the late model California types could conceivably be running the EFI program from the P8 and the sport types the program from the WM16, even though the new ones use ECU's that are physically identical. I doubt we'll ever know, except that the new ones have different part numbers according to the intended model. And that would have to be the map and/or program.
-
I disagree. Take a look at: How Cliff built his ECU and you can get a much better idea as to what it takes to develope and deploy an EFI management unit. Fascinating reading, regardless of whether you're going to purchase one of Cliff's units or not. Keep in mind too, that the WM16 it was originally built to replace, has a very dark history with Guzzi's. The WM15 has fared much better (thankfully). The My15M is an evolution on the My16M. The My16M wouldn't exist except for the positively evil behavior and high replacement cost of the WM ECU. Cliff's ECU does not share any code of WM's nor is his code open for users to access. What is open is that all of the parts are commercially available and the circuit diagram is (more or less) available on his web site (I say more or less, because Cliff has covered each section independently and does not have the entire schematic posted - although he might have and I missed it somehow). You can repair Cliff's ECU, you can't get schematics for WM ECU's and you wouldn't want to tear open a PCIII. ALL of the various approaches for modifying the ignition on the V11 Sports offer some advantages and some disadvantages.

I know Denmark isn't a huge country, but GuzziJens, where are you? I kind of liked Denmark down around Vojens more than in the bigger cities. Someday I'll get back to see more. Wonderful people. And the beer. Definitely the beer.
-
Oh crap. Whatever I've got, looks to be substantially different from the one you've got.
-
I can't get at my bike right now, it's buried, so I can't measure the distance on mine. The TLM stand frame I have measures 3 7/16" between the two tangs. Too wide by far to fit your frame. Maybe it's for a LeMans.
-
It kind of depends on which year and which model. Could you elaborate a bit more please?
-
Would someone throw a ruler across the exhaust crossover mounting tabs and give me a width measurement ofr a 2002 or later model?
-
Let me speak for it for now and if it fits, I'll pass mine on to someone else whose bike it may fit.
-
I hear ya. I'm going to retire this summer and explore Route 66 (my driveway). Not too interested in full time employment until I get all of the bikes running and a bunch of other stuff.
-
I re-registered, got the email, logged in, went away for a while and it was gone again. ETR is now the 3rd of January.
-
Damn! Too bad. That was sweet little car Dave. How's the job search going?

Warn her that he's been cleaning? Nah, that'd probably just entice her to visit. Tex, WIH is that truck mounted rig for? Armadillo hunting season?
