Great minds think alike. I didn't like the taillight either. Nice wheels. And a wave rotor on the rear, but not on the front. Different. I'm still not certain I like the looks of the exhaust. At first, I thought it looked hideous. Now it just looks industrial. The overall effect on the bike is kind of striking though. Especially if you wanted to mount some huge hard bags on the bike.

Actually, I recall Todd did say something along those lines. I suspect he had it mixed up a tad because someone had posted querying as to whether a PCIII for another type of bike (say a Ducati) would work, which of course, it wouldn't as the programming would be differerent as well as the wiring harness connections. But, it makes no sense whatsoever to produce a piece of hardware that has to be customized internally for each separate application, that's why we have computer programs to make up the differences and I'm just as certain that Power Commanders achieve their flexibility through programming the hardware and not modifying it. The original question was posted in reference to the Sport 1100i/Centauro application too, I think, and that particular wiring setup up required additional connectors and wire that simply aren't required on some of the later Guzzis.

All it takes to get oil seepage along the pan seam is one or two loose bolts (don't ask me how I know..). Ensure that all of the pan bolts are secure before looking for trouble elsewhere.

No kidding, your neutral light works? Mine only worked from 1000 to the 3000 mile point. Sometimes it works again to remind me I have a bulb in there, but mainly I just go by feel. No shortage of extra neutrals in a Guzzi transmission either, so I have multiple choices. -

You can use the stock wiring if you want, it's just been my experience (twice) that in the long run the Fiamms will eat up the switch contacts. Takes a few months. The relay is still the best option regardless.

The sport model Guzzis don't get a horn relay. Miserable oversight if you ask me. A set of 138db Fiamms will set you back less than $30 at an auto parts store in California. I assume they would be reasonably close to the same price elsewhere. 138db is much louder than the stock horns on any cars I'm aware of. Plus you don't have to make a trip to the wrecker and get dirty pulling something that may not work. Really not worth it. I use my freakin loud Fiamms frequently. They're life savers for sure. So, what I'm saying here is, if you value your life, just buy the loudest horns and don't try to cheap out. I'm being didactic, but the first time you save yourself with a loud blast, you'll consider the money well spent.

The old Siemens relays are perfect for horn relays. And... you have spares You don't need to measure the current draw on a horn if the switch melts when there's no relay. It sort of speaks (or not ) for itself.

Last I head, HID was under investigation by the DOT to be de-legalized. Power requirements are probably quite a bit in excess of what the bike can supply anyway.

Are you sure the oil leak is from the crankcase? I find spots under my bike on occasion. I know they're from the transmission aft end somewhere, but have never located an actual leak. It could just be oil from the transmission breather. If you have some of the oil, compare it with your motor oil just to be certain that you're looking in the right place. The V11 Sports seem to have a weakness for oil leaks, but not necessarily in the engine area itself.

I tried the California manual. I changed the file and creator type to match a known .pdf type and Acrobat told me it was corrupted. I'll try again when I get off work tonight and see if I was doing something wrong. I'm not too worried, I have the V11, Sport 1100i and California 1100i manuals on my home computer in html format because I did them myself. I did get the V11 Sport cd that this forum provided and although all of the data is there in a combination of html and pdf files, the programming/linking is very poor and its just easier to open the individual pdf files and search for what you're looking for based on familiarity with the standard manuals. I wouldn't be surprised if the owners manuals at the site above share similar shortcomings.

Well, yeah, I've been ordering parts and they've been coming through in a 6 - 18 workday kind of time period for ordinary stuff, you know, clutch plates etc. For some strange reason, brake or clutch levers take about 3 months and body parts come from Italy and are apparently not stocked in the USA at all. Mostly, for generic kinds of items it is easier and cheaper to find an alternate source, like Buell turn signal lenses for the V11 Sport, or seek a European distributor for more specialized parts like fairings and stuff, like Agostini. From what I understand, Agostini is frequently cheaper than MGNA and always much faster if they have the parts. If they don't have the parts I guess they toodle down the street and obtain them directly. Of course, this negates the replacement under warranty aspect, but this is one of the reasons that MGNA is disliked so much by owners and dealers. When MGNA can't or won't deliver, everyone downstream suffers. I've written off a lot of parts that would have been warranty replacement items over the last 5 years. Some because the dealer I bought my bike at simply refused to have any warranty dealings with MGNA and some because I knew that even if the parts would have been replaced, I found other sources so I could get the bike back on the road in a reasonable length of time.

Even the owners manuals have problems. Even after setting the file type to match up with Adobe acrobat, they came across as corrupt files.

Just hope they don't rot of old age before the Guzzi ones get here.

I've been following some links from an eBay posting and ran back to this site: http://www.marke-kilian.de/shop/catalog/de...lt.php?cPath=79 I don't know who Marke Kilian are, but perhaps someone from the european contingent can give me a clue. There are few Guzzi specific items listed, but some of them are relatively interesting. The hydraulic clutch doesn't apply to the V11 Sport/Lemans group of course, because we already have those on our bikes. For me, it seems like a nice switch away from cables for some of my other Guzzi's. Although you can't see it clearly in one of the photos of the hydraulic clutch on the bike, if the picture is saved to your computer and opened in PhotoShop or an image viewer you can see a very nice oil fill cap with a Guzzi Eagle on it. This is I think, incorrectly listed as an oil drain plug, but the photos there are not correctly linked in the URL's so I can't say if that is the case or not. They also have some pretty nifty looking all metal dipsticks for Guzzis as well as titanium or aluminum fasteners. What gets really interesting is the Guzzi motorcycle. Take a look at the front brake stays and some of the other goodies on that bike. Pretty interesting stuff. I'm actually considering buying one of the hydraulic clutch units when they become availiable in a few months, but I would like to know first if this firm is a respected one. Thanks

I just got back from a quick trip of 174 miles. Most of it at 80-85 mph with about 8 miles of it in city. 38.6 mpg.

Yep. Stock everything except the Mistral cans and a PCIII.

If I get a chance I'll meassure it. However, the measurement is taken from the base of the screw in part as the measurement is made with the stock dipstick fully threaded in. Yours and ours may be of different lengths and a measure taken from the tip would probably not be correct.

That would be Performance Cycle at (916) 344-7911. Ask for Howard. I do all of my purchases there, usually by phone and he ships me my stuff when it arrives. Howard is easier to get to than the endless phone tree on long distance calls for me at Moto Italiano. They're good people, but if you can't get to them, they're not of much use to you. I don't go there much anymore.
