My Honda ST1300 maybe. The Scura...NEVER! Not even for a chocolate chip Macadamia nut cookie
-
staedtler, Outstanding. ROTFALMAO. Too funny. Thanks for the chuckles.

Hey Pepperoni Bros, Bellisimo! Looks kinda like a psycho bumblebee. I like it.
-
I'd say Melandri is a cinch to take 2nd overall. But if he and Hayden crash out and Edwards finishes... Looking forward to the show.
-
Hey db, I'm with you. Love my Scura but can't do the trips on it like I can on my '03 ST (ABS). Different strokes for different tasks.
-
The new Scura cited by orangeokie in post # 9 of this thread has been further reduced to $8450. Pretty decent price for a brand new Scura (with full warranty). Bill

Guzzirider, I'm with you. Melandri has put out a helluva season. I'm not sure he has cinched second yet, but for consistently riding in the top 4, he has earned my admiration. Watch for him to move to the Repsol team and a better than ever season next year. Then there's Loris...and Carlos on their suddenly very fast Ducati's. It will be very interesting indeed. Hail Rossi! Ryan, How would you explain the fact that at least on a couple of GP's this season, while he's been dicing it with the likes Hayden, Checka, Melandri, et al, he gets toward the end of the race and 'suddenly' pulls away and sets a new lap record on rubber thats got to be inferior compared to the mid point of the race. He's a sandbagger allright. A one-off-probably-never-see-the-likes-of-him-again sandbagger I would love to see him fly at a track he likes, like Phillip Island. Ciao, Boill

Something I noticed seeing Rossi at Laguna Seca this year. The guy's a sandbagger. Don't take this wrong, but I think he could have won at Laguna Seca. He's a lot like King Kenny in that he won't just run away from the field even if he could. He knows the crowds want to see a race. With Hayden leading and Edwards in second and Rossi way behind (2-3 seconds) and a couple of laps to go, suddenly Rossi starts flying and in a lap is on Edwards ass. I think he was showing the crowd what he was capable of. He had only had about 4 hours total on the course and was cited as saying he didn't believe the course was safe. There may be some politics in it too; let the Americans win at their home track this time (Rossi really didn't need it), encourage spectatorship, advance the game, etc. Rossi is not only the best I've ever seen, he's shrewd and astute. A most impressive rider. Bill

I used to have a Lockhart stand for my '95 Ducati 900 SS sp that was brilliant and easy to use. Guess I should have kept it. Unfortunately, I didn't do enough homework before buying my MG stand. First thing I did was bugger both the beautiful red frame supports on my Scura. Regardless if a user might learn the intricasies of positioning and levering, I agree with Windchill. Anybody interested in a used once MG stand for $100 plus shipping? Bill

Listers, FWIW It's my understanding that, generally speaking, front tire wear is most commonly attributed to braking in cornering. Rear tire wear is generally from acceleration (out of corners :-). Having said this, I think the 30psi your maintaining in the front may be a bit low. I'm running 34 front and 38 rear but there's no way I'll ever see 5500 miles on a set of tires on my Scura. Happy trails, Bill

Very nice Paul, I especially enjoyed the race link. Very impressive. Keep up the excellent work. Thanks, Bill

I tried the arseless chaps and no underwear thing once. Ended up with little divots in my seat. Guess I used too much "pucker"

I looked at the Probolt site. Nice stuff; not cheap, but nice stuff. I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I'm pretty sure the clutch, front brake and rear brake caps on my 2002 Scura are the same as the '95 Ducati 900 SS I used to own. I'm sure Probolt could confirm that. Good luck, Bill
-
Good luck Mike. I hope you can find relief. Wishing you a fast and full recovery.
-
Congratulations Orange, Beautiful bike. I know you'll be happy with your decision. Now go out and put some real miles on that thing.

I quite agree. Absolutely Beautimus! Maybe MG should think about replacing Luigi and soliciting opinions from the many forums when it comes to style and paint schemes.
-
Jaap and Orangeokie, Thank you for the compliments. 7 coats of black laquer followed by 3 coats of clear. Used the old gold MG emblems and hand scripted the Scura in gold too.

Maybe I'm holding my mouth wrong when I look at it, or maybe I haven't looked at it long enough yet. But it just isn't doing anything for me. No offense to those that are taken with it, but I'd just as soon have them take it away.

Listers, Like it or not, being at the top of the food chain in Moto GP has to take its toll. I can imagine Vale wants to go out on top. The great ones know when that time is and get while the getting is good. If memory serves me correctly, King Kenny gave F1 a shot after his retirement. I don't think he ever actually raced though. Probably learned what he needed to know in practice and gave the idea up. Rossi is a joy to watch and I look forward to the remainder of this season and next, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he hung up his leathers completely after that. If he does make the jump to F1, guess I'll have to start following that again. Bill in Eureka

Greetings fellow Guzzisti, I'm now 2 weeks into owning my first Goose, a 2002 V11 Scura that I picked up on Ebay. I'm 54 years old, been married to the same lovely lady for almost 29 years and have a terminal case of motorcyclitis. I began riding in 1964 on a Yamaha 80 with trail tires and a gyt kit fitted. Played in the dirt for several years including MotoXing a 250 while stationed in New Mexico, before making the jump to pavement. I bought a brand new '73 Triumph T140V 750 Bonneville for the indoctrination period. My next bike came 10 years later in the form of a Yamaha Seca 900. A wonderfully sterile piece of machinery that saw me through a T-bone collision at the 25K mark 5 years later. My next bike was a '95 Ducati 900 SS sp and I nearly succumbed to the sausage monster's song. Got rid of it before it did me in. A 2003 Honda ST1300 with ABS was my next ride and I still have it. Bought the Goose because I absolutely love the looks of the thing. It only has 1700 miles on the clock so far, but I intend to run that up as high as possible between now and December when the warranty expires. This is a wonderful forum and really helps push the learning curve for me. Thanks to all of you. Bill in Eureka
