Thanks to the good folks on this forum (and Wildgoose chase). I sucessfully changed my broken shift spring on my Scura. I would like to encourage those of you who are contemplating a change of the shift spring to go ahead and give it a shot. I ended up removing more than I actually needed to (You only need to remove the allen screws from the side plate), but the experience was worth it. I'm pretty sure it was the oem spring that gave way (just shy of 4K miles on the clock!). I replaced it with a spring from Cannon Racecraft. The replacement spring seems the same size wire, but the coil formation (that fits over the boss) is different in that the coils are slightly staggered. Replaced the gearbox lube with Amsoil synthetic gear lube (80W90) and immediately experienced smoother shifts I'm another notch higher on my personal "Guzziology" and won't be getting a bodge point just yet. Thanks again for all the helpful posts, Bill

Death, where is thy sting?

There's also a sticker (usually on the steering head) that states the bike meets DOT safety standards, that is required for registration in CA. You shouldn't have any trouble getting your Guzzi registered. Congrats

KB, Thanks for the kind offer, Unfortunately, I didn't see it in time. I appreciate the thought though. Happy trails.

Only because it hasn't been mentioned; make sure the kill switch isn't turned off. Good luck Orange

I made the call to Bonnie yesterday and ordered a couple of springs. If the pawl is the 16 mm, I'll try and "turn" it down to 15. Might earn a nice Bodge point with the attempt. Thanks for the info

My "borrowed time" ended yesterday. Not sure if I'm stuck in first or second; it happened just as I turned onto my home street on the way home yesterday. I need a spring now Any news on the new parts? TIA

I'll second that V50man! I used to think my Scura was rough as a cob compared to my ST1300A. But then I got a Daytona. Funny how much better the Scura is now. Everything is relative.

Hey Brian, What happened with the Corbin saddle? Happy trails

Nice job Greg. Anybody that doesn't like the color scheme shouldn't claim to be a guzzista Cheers

Daniel, Based upon similar discoveries I've made on my 2002 Scura (and other '02 MG's), I'd have to recommend a through greasing of all bearings, fitting and joints where grease could have been omitted. It probably was. Must have been when Luigi was supervising the assembly line. Happier trails.

Please DON'T show us how well they work

The PayPal option works fine. One word of advice for other Norte Americano's; use a comma instead of a decimal to separate the dollars from the cents. Vive Guzzi Ciao,

Good info Jeff, Has anybody been quoted a price delivered to the US yet? TIA

Belfast, That's the same spring assy extending from the base. Mine didn't come with the filter element though So what did you do? I did a quick 100+ miler out Hwy 299 to scrub in the "new slippers for the Italian Ballerina" (Thanks, Doc) and everything was great. Happy trails,

I just changed tires on my Scura this last weekend. Less than 4K on the clock. The entire rear drive was dry. The needle bearuings, the drive splines and the shaft and universal. lucky for me there didn't appear to be any long term damage. There was a peculiar find though, the zerk fittings would not allow greasing. I took the one off the shaft near the connecting collar and ran down to my local parts store. Got lucky and bought 2 so I could replace the universal zerk also. Got home and swapped them out. The one on the shaft near the collar was a no brainer. The one for the universal joint came out in pieces! The main body, followed by a spring assembly. I looked into the screw galley and there was a clean (no grease ever) cup in the bottom. WTFO! A Luigi creation, right? Somebody tell me I DIDNT do a bad thing when I drilled the cup out and put in the new zerk fitting. I was careful to collect all the drill shavings and blew out the newly created grease access before greasing the joint. TIA

Listers, I'm looking for the fuel evaporative canister for a 2002 V11S. This is the canister that sits in front of the rear tire on a small aluminum bracket. TIA, Found one. Thanks for looking. Bill

Don't count Rossi out just yet. The track was new to him last year and he didn't even have 4 hours on it and took a 3rd behind Edwards. But he showed some serious learning just prior to the finish when he made up about .8 seconds (I'm a little fuzzy on that exactly) on Colin in a single lap. Plus, he needs the win this year. There's four more races prior to Laguna Seca and the season is still relatively young. If I was betting on it, I'd put my money on Valentino. I hope Laguna Seca is everything that all you first timers think it will be. Bear in mind, the track doesn't allow for European top end speeds. Not that 160 mph isn't impressive. Happy trails

My wife and I went last year and I'll echo Steves sentiments. The buildup within the infield effectively blocks viewing of the race. I didn't pay $85 each to watch the race on a big screen (well, yes I did too). There's not a vista you can find at Laguna Seca to where you can see a quarter of the race now. 20 years ago, it was quite different. Regardless of the improvements in traffic handling, I'll stay home and watch it on my own "big screen". Ciao,

Anybody else think last weekend's Moto GP was one of the best ever races yet? Rossi stepped up to bat and slammed one out of the park. Simply amazing racing. Lest anyone doubt his abilities now, he showed what a Moto GP champion is capable of, coming from behind with about 6 or 7 laps to go and in 5th place. I was blown away. Vive Rossi

Give the man another Bodge point

I'd be a tad reluctant to hop on the salvaged goose, even just to get it home. Better to get a lift and give it a thourough going over first. Too easy to miss something critical, like a loose fuel line, or oil leak on the rear tire/wheel. Seems like there was plenty of help; that's a factor too. Happy trails ,

Both Duc's are beautimus!. I'd have to go with the Monster though. The other one is WAAAAAAAY too serious for a rider such as myself. Congrats.

We wen't for last years Moto GP too. Based on the '84 GP, we found the infield so built up that getting a good view of the race/track is impossible. You can walk around the track and get a great view of 2 or 3 curves, but then that's all there is. I'm sure traffic/parking will be improved this year, but last year was a major disappointment. The US needs to build a track where the general audience can watch the race, not just part of it. I'll be watching the race on SpeedTV this year. Its still a hoot down there. Bbbest wishes for a great time.

Nice video Gil, Great bunch of riders.
