Right now, there's no inspection even when bringing in an out-of-State bike like I did when I bought the Scura. All the DMV looks for is the apprpriate stickers signifying DOT/California/EPA compliance. If you've got the stickers, life is good.
Now when I brought in the Daytona RS (originally purchaesd in the UK) there was hell to pay for not having a DOT safety sticker. You would think that a quick inspection of all things safety would reveal that , yes there are turn signals, mirrors, horn, headlamp, brake and tail lights and even a kick stand cutoff switch. You would be wrong.
What I needed to get was a VIN verification from the CHP. Get that, a verification (alrady confirmed by the DMV) of the VIN and engine number. Bureaucratic logic I guess.
Anyway, I didn't need the canister for the Scura. Still have the hoses and canister mount sans canister.
