its not really sorted, with bad fuelling maps, bad detailing and such. but it also has got rave reviews (Perf. Bikes?) for its ferocious engine, which one journo felt was like being shot out of the barrell of rifle. he also stated that it had a lot of italian soul, good quality components and was very promising for a first run. Myself, I like it. Its aggressive and badass in a way the Monster can never be.

Oh man, sad story. Sounded especially dramatic this one. Hope for a fast recovery for you, both on body and soul. It serves as a strong reminder for me, I keep looking at my wifes bike in the mirrors all the time too. just a story: last autumn I drove to the hangout for a burger and a chat. several bikers there and i started talking to this greyish guy. he was obviously one of the veterans of the lot. what he told me was: he was 73 yrs, and had owned bikes since the dark ages. three years ago he slid his Bmw 1200 Lt on loose gravel at low speed and lost it, he smashed up his knee quite badly and scared the wits out of his wife who was pillion. so he decided to quit biking. when the knee was healed the itch began. he hadnt been without bikes since 1950 or something. so what he did was that he bought a bike, of course. but he couldnt tell his wife (AT ALL!), so this 72 year old little boy had a Honda VFR 800 with ferociously loud pipes and tip top riding gear lurking secretly in a mates garage, and every time his wife was away he snook out and rode it. he told me his knee was still stiff, so he wasnt able to ride for much more than twenty minutes which was exactly the distance on to the hangout. but that was enough to take 10 yrs off his age every time. he just couldnt live without a ride now and then. as I said, just a story. It gets in the blood.

puzzling, my crossover which proudly features the words Mistral all over it, has well finished brackets to use with stock rubber mounts n'all. it bolts right on. is this an aftermarket mod? by the way; it will be mounted back again after a short stint with the stock box and MG Ti's. got dyno time next monday...

thanks mate, you'll probably get a lot of dirt and dust up that hole. It looked like that on mine, so i made a cover from a 3mm pvc sheet that wrapped around the light bracket. will post pic when i remember that i own a brand new digicam...

just do it, have racetrack bike for that kind of thrill and keep a feelgood bike for trips down to the hangout. I have surprised myself to by eyeing up RC51's lately.... hmmm....

those micro indicators is just what I'm looking for the original ones dont clear the exhaust outlets. just one more thing: could you take a picture that shows what has been done to fill the hole left in the plastic cover over the rear tyre: the remains of the original splashguard? Just curious.

Noticed that my headers are becoming increasingly more blue after installing the Titanium kit. What is the reason for this? Sign of trouble? I have not yet got around to adjusting valves and synching TPS's, will do in two weeks time. EDIT: yeah Martin, I remember now that it is sympthom of lean running, any immediate fixes which dont include electronics?

stunning bike. a bit envious... and you have the same combination of tailtidy/Ti-pipes as me. I guess that the buffeting/turbulence at speed comes from a combination of high bars and front set/frame mounted windscreen. my Greenie has clipons and the same screen but fork-mounted so its closer to me and a bit lower. no turbulence. the combination of bars and screen on the Ballabio looks very similar to the combination on my former BMW R1150R; and that nearly shook my head off above 60mph... I'd recommend changing the windscreen to fork mounted, it even looks better IMHO.

sensible and motorcycle are two word that don't connect well in my book. it should be a an event every time you go down to the garage, put the lights on, admire it, start the engine and slip the clutch. the sensibility of the Beemer was the thing that got to me in the end. this is a forum for the airing of problems, and should be read with gloves and helmet ON. It leads you to expect breakdown around every turn, but the reality is that the glitches discussed here are mostly minor issues discussed by garage monkeys who do everything themselves (sorry, guys ). Myself I almost stalled first time in here, and got veeery paranoid about my bike. But one learns to calm down. The Guzzi is an overengineered beast and can take a lot of punishment. Its also easy to work on, even for people with eleven thumbs like me. Of the four V11 Guzzis in my neighbourhood/club none has had any significant problems. On the other hand, my brand new R1150R spat oil all over the garage floor in its first week, and no one was able to cure it until I sold it. agree with you about the G&B, too bad this company now is dead. In my eyes (I am a graphic/retail/communications designer) both the 1100i and the Daytona has the timeless flair that the MGS inherits and takes a bit further. What about one of those? With the leftover from the 1200S you should be able to have a completely restored firebreathing Daytona AND spare change for beer. (or a nice bottle of Brunello, since youre an architect )

these are roughs for a an ad campaign that slipped on to the internet. the cars are received as wonderfully crisp and economical driving machines (the new Focus ST is said to be glorious!), but still lacking in the interior dept seen next to Audis and VW's.

the Beemer is a veeery nice machine. German engineering and attention to detail. The first really slick and (in my eyes at least) sexy design from BMW. Amazing in the flesh. But I suspect its just too siviliced. I had a R1150R like you and sold it, because it was so soulless that it got on my nerves. On shorter runs it made me fall asleep. You cant say that about the Guzzi... I cant see that you can compare these two bikes. The Beemer is a family sports-/touringbike and does everything just nicely, the MGS does one thing perfect: goes places thats situated on the track weely weely fast! A Ducce 998 or 999 would be a better comparison with the MGS and a LeMans would be a better comparison with the Beemer.
