  1. yes it is...nudge nudge...yellow cali on the front page....
  2. Well, the gixxer on the pixxer also have a hump, and it sits quite good on that, its rubber coated where it meets the bodywork.
  3. but how about this. small norwegian company. lovingly crafted from carbon and looks great on the bike. straps on to anything, and expands to almost 60 litres. www.fastback.com
  4. i suggest a redirection of this thread, just to keep it going. how about one of the following: How is your time? What time is THAT? Thats some time, is it yours? What kind of watch? What thyme is it? Do little red rooster go well with thyme? Is it time? Gimme time, or gimme death... 09.39 Norwegian midlde of the road-time
  5. I think it looks a bit like a black slug, or a cumberland sausage.....
  6. Spring has finally come to the North. We're seeing positive temperatures with two digits © for the first time in five months, literally! Snow melts so rapidly you can hear it, literally (again). Birds are getting it on in the bushes (and I mean the kind with feathers, that fly). I'll be on my bike for the first time this year next weekend. And collect the wifes Laverda from hibernation and full overhaul in a couple of days. Hallelujah!! That aside: a mate of mine borrows garage space for his Kawa 650 (the thriumph bonneville ripoff bike), as a service to him I was about to remove the battery for charging it yesterday. It was damn impossible. The bike has so much electronics going on in every single available orafice, its impossible to get to anything. I fumbled for two hours, then gave up. I even had the manual in front of me. The Guzzi is heaven to work on in comparison, with acres of space everywhere. Hail!
  7. I've already mentioned multigrade Guinness in another thread, and I'll stick to that. Get lubed up, guys... sorry, no offence....
  8. Life must be hard for you....
  9. what has suddenly become wrong with multigrade Guinness? its pretty cheap, and lubed me up pretty good last time I visited Ireland....
  10. well, no replacement. I have spoken to a local Ohlins-dealer about replacement springs, but he cant find out which type of fork this is since Guzzis are quite rare up here, so I must come up with some other models which have it. But in honesty, I have given up on the guy and placed an order at Wilbers last evening... thanks for all help
  11. sometimes someone spend the whole day asking you incorrect questions. they be stomped...
  12. Indeed. I had a Beemer r1150r with the equally small roadster screen, and that produced so much turbulence and buffeting that it nearly tore my head off above 90mph. Awful aerodynamics on that bike. Rider was too far away from the windscreen, I guess. The small MG screen is amazingly effective, it takes the pressure off your chest while your helmet is in clean air. BUT: I imagine that if you switch to bars instead of clipons, you will move further back from the windscreen and then you will hit the turbulence that the screen produces...
  13. how about the Sport and the Daytona, isnt the same fork used on those?
  14. Can anyone list the other Guzzis which use the same Zocchi? Thanks.
  15. HELLO, guys. when did red become THE Guzzi colour? Its a Greenie earth, the rest of you just live in it. The matte paint is fabulous, anyone who knows what kind of paint that is?

    Best helmet?

  17. sunny, clear and -8C. 40 cm of ice on everything. I'm suffering here!
  18. Yes, I wondered. Then I saw it in the flesh, and wondered no more. Its hideous, managing to be both dull and fugly at the same time. And a leviathan. It looks a bit like a hamster with stuffed cheeks.
  19. Ok, guys. Been trying to order fork springs this weekend. That was not a fun thing to do. Even though I had all available data and knew what I was after, both guys I talked to was completely unable to help me: They not know what spring rate means, they never 'eard of Marzocchi, they not habla, they not able to read product lists, they lose interest, they rather sell me new bike instead.... In most product lists there is a replacement spring listed, but I understand from you that this spring generally is too soft for a fat geezer like me. Bike and me weighs at least (100kg+240kg) 340 kg, maybe a bit more. Thats 755 lb, if I'm not wrong. What I need is product numbers. So, dear Guzzisti: Q1: can anyone help me with a product number that enables me to order fork springs for the stock Zocchi fork with: spring rate of 1,1-1,2 kg/mm with spacer material from either: Ohlins WP/Proline Wilbers Q": how do you convert kg/mm to Nm/mm? thats the standard rating in most lists. As far as I can see there isnt many over in the States who're willing to ship internationally, so I would like to order in Europe. But if I can I'll of course order from the US, yesserreee! I'll of course pay shipping fees. But I still need product numbers. If you think this implies that I am a bit mechanically thick and not able to take care of myself, you're probably right. But Im workin on it.

  21. thanks all. seems like 1.10 - 1.15 kg/mm is a sensible choice. with 125/150 cartridge fluid as Rathet recommends. the length of the spring, anybody who has that tattooed in the back of his neck? I'll find out anyway... I agree with you, Ratchet. actually, the decision to go for springs instead of cartridge conversion is largely because of your recommendations, or rantings is perhaps a better word. hail hail! On this relatively crude bike I find it a bit of a waste to spend that much money on a complete new fork as long as you can improve the old one with small means, its easy to do and another good thing is that the Zocch seems to be easy to maintain. I discovered when I bought the bike that harsh is not sporty: all the settings was turned way up, the bike was rock hard and skitted along the road like a horny squirrel. frankly dangerous, a coin in the road threw it a meter off the line in turns. so forks first, then rear shock. I'm not sure what to do back there yet. but as long as it works I'll just try to give it the right settings. I am also going to lower the fork in the clamps about 5-8 mm (cause with my gorilla arms I get too much weight on the rear tyre), and change to a 160 width rear tyre. that should do it. then I'll just ride......

    850 Griso

the Griso 850 has been on the model charts in Norway since before Christmas, and now even have a set price on it. They excpect it to reach shops in the spring. The 850s exists probably because in some countries you get insanely high insurance rates for bigger bikes, whatever model or make. Especially if you are below 30 (remember that? when we were below 30?). Insurance has become so expensive its actually strangling the market for new bikes in Europe at least. As an example: a 25 year old that tries to register a new Yam R1 in Norway pays in excess of $4600 a year, or 3500 euros... Its like here in Norway, and I also think it is a similar sit in Italy/Germany/France. It is probably also because the Breva 750 have sold quite well to newbie bikers (girls, city commuters), and they expect the Griso to do the same. The international trend is turning to smaller midrange bikes, thats were the big sales are. Sad but true.
  23. hate to bring this up again, but since I have reached the point where I am unable to fit more technical info into my brain (teacher. may I be excused, my brain is full...) I need some spring data. I know theres several threads discussing this at length, but I need to the point info. I also know I can tinker around with the fine tuning of this to eternity, but I just need something that will make a basic and obvious improvement. I am going to buy new springs for the Marzocchi. Ohlins is way too expensive at 1200 euros, and so is a cartridge conversion from Maxton ($360 + VAT). I have found several companies in Sweden and Norway who can deliver springs (WP), oil and everything, but they dont know sh.. about their own products or the Guzzi, so I must present a clear spec to them. I am close to 100 kgs (whats that in pounds?) in riding gear, and ride in a controlled/brisk manner on medium to long rides on twisty and sometimes quite bumpy roads (think Wales), but I want to know that the bike can handle more. Can anyone give me a clear recommendation on which springs, spacers and oil to order, with all data, which I can then present to the spring guy? Perhaps a sporty alternative, and a cruiser-alternative? Thanks a lot
  24. weird, but it looks fun. couldnt find anything more about it, though.
  25. isnt that one 87% Honda? They also made a special with a Suzuki Vtwin later...
