Dealing with Telemarketers
twhitaker replied to helicopterjim R.I.P.'s topic in Special place for banter and conversation
I'll just put them on hold and continue with my dinner. If they are still on the line when I pick it back up, I'll listen to what they have to say. -
In my 19 years of owning Guzzis with filters I've never had one come loose. Getting the first filter out of each of my new bikes was a bear. I think Guido does not put oil on the seal ring which causes it to glue itself to the mating surface. I use Mobil 1 filters and have a socket that fits. I totally disregard the torque specified (snug plus 1/4 turn or something like that) and tighten them to where it feels right(probably 1 1/2 turns after snug). I'd rather have to resort to the hammer and screwdriver treatment than the alternative. The first filter change on the Centauro was a bit of a surprise. I don't have a socket to fit the UFI do I did the hammer and screwdriver treatment. When I went to turn the screwdriver, one little nudge and the filter was loose. I mean I hadn't gone 1/16 of a turn and it was free. It got me wondering about the elasticity of the seal ring on that filter. Maybe it was just the difference in techniques between the PO and I.

Although I'm not sure why it helps but if I cycle the kill switch 3 or 4 times before hitting the starter button the bike will fire up right away.

Edge makes a VERY fine EdgeGuard. It's black and textured so as to not be noticed. It fits into the swingarm nicely. It's formed to fit the tubes. I made one based on Al Rothlisberger's design which I replaced as soon as I saw Edge's.

There's a bike in the picture?

My SB worked fine even though it replaced the flat bottomed original. I must have gotten lucky.

I like this option very much. I want two so you might want to send eight.

Before I started going to Guzzi rallys I frequented the Harley rodeos. A completely different environment as you can see.

Kind of dated but worth a look. Please not more explicit than this... I don't have problems with a nice POA myself, but this is too close to porn. People should be able to watch this site at work.

I took a picture then I went over to the LeMans and looked. What???? There is no distributor boss on the '02 crankcase. Here's a photo of the hoses on the Centauro. It will also work on my '96 California and it may work on earlier V11's

Tonight, maybe, if CRS doesn't get me.

I remember the discussion about what to do with the breather hoses when replacing the air filter box with K&N filters. Various solutions were suggested but I did not see this one. Last night while I was caressing my Centauro I saw what was done with the same hoses. The boss on the crankcase for the (now not needed) distributor has a cover on it with two spigots sticking out. The breather hoses are connected to it.

I ordered 3 quarts of the Heavy from their web site and had it in 3 days.

32 years ago I fixed a leak in my 350 Honda gas tank using a fiberglass patch kit. The leak looked like a stress crack and I figured heat would just add more stress to it. I used a piece of cotton from an old shirt instead of the fiberglass roving and it held fine for the the 3 years I owned it.

I use the 40's on the California and the LeMans. They work great and are nice crash protection. The 30's are not big enough to stow a helmet.

That would be a good place to hang your karma bell.

Our old purchasing agent had a saying for this type of person. "That guy could f**k up a steel ball with a rubber mallet." -
