  1. There is a fellow from Missouri that has over 450,000 miles on his 850.
  2. One other possibility, also remote for the above reasons, is the oil filter has come loose allowing some of the flow to go across the filter gasket.
  3. What he said.
  4. If memory serves me correctly, I removed the rear tire and got to the bleeder that way. Speedbleeder SB1010S for that one and the rear caliper. SB8125L for the fronts.
  5. I must first say the stand I bought from MG Cycles is a bargain and a lot of thought went into it. I feel kind of like a traitor giving this information. There a number of ways this could be executed so I'll just give you the essentials. Mine lifts up on the hex nuts just below the brake and shifter pedals. For the '02 LeMans (yours might be narrower) the distance between the uprights is 13 inches. The slots are 7/8 inches wide with a radius in the bottom. When the stand is in use the distance from the center of this 7/8 slot to the floor is 11 1/2 inches. The stand has 2 1/2 inch diameter rollers that are 3/4 inch wide. With the stand upright it is in an overcenter condition. The lateral distance from the center of the slots to the center of the rollers is 4 inches. They used 3/8 x 1 5/8 flat stock for the uprights which they joined using 2 lengths of 1 3/8 diameter tubing. One is concentric with the rollers and the other midway up the uprights. On one side they attached a lever that is angles out to clear the exhausts when levered backwards or the engine when levered forward.
  6. I presume you are talking about the 'paddock stand' that acts as a center stand?

    who's the man

24,000 miles on the LeMans. Got the pawl spring and a transmission leak fixed under warrantee the first year. Been fine ever since. 76,000 miles on the '96 Cali 1100i and it's never been apart.
  8. Mine only leaks when it is hanging on the wall. I have enough grease in it to last me for 20 years or 'US' for 10 years. Hint, hint, hint.
  9. Hazzard County.
  10. Did you try to start it with the clutch lever pulled in? This will override the sidestand relay circuit. My guess would be the relays.
  11. I think the pump has been in 3 different locations in this series of bikes. Yours (not really sure where that is), mine (in front of the engine), and the latest (inside the tank). My bike has had no vapor lock problems although I did have a tank suck issue once. My Lemans has the oil cooler mounted high up in front of the fuel pump with some sort of heat shield wrapping the rear 2/3 of the pump housing. The fuel line is resting on the left head and the fairing blocks most of the cooling air the hose might get if it were an unfaired model. IMHO mounting your pump high under the gas tank would do no good. I do not see how any cooling air would get to that area when the bike is stopped and the heat from the engine would heat soak the system pretty quickly.
  12. Take a look at www.antiqueboat.com The 61 Century Coronado 21' with the gull wing converible top is a model I've lusted over for years. Look at atki21 and the less21 in the 20 ft plus utilities.
  13. This is what I heard on this site. I'm pretty sure they are the same mirrors with longer stalks. The boxes mine came in were labeled 'short.'
  14. I went to the same parts guy 12 months ago to get a set of Buell footpegs. They had the pegs in stock but not the springs. I ordered the springs and went home happy with my $25 purchase. Fast forward 12 months. I'm ordering these parts and the guy asked me if I still wanted the springs he had on the shelf for me for 11 1/2 months. He remembered me. The turn signals are slightly different intheir mounting. Ours are held on with a buttin head screw and a hex nut. The stalk on these have a male threaded 5/26-24 portion that you put a nut on the back side. Adjacent to this stalk is a nub that sticks out. You should drill a little hole in the fairing for it. I just cut the nub off. What I got was: Y0504.02A8 (RF LR) Y0503.-2A8 (LF RR)
  15. And painless. I went to the local Harley dealer Saturday morning to order Buell mirrors and turn signals for my LeMans. All 4 items were in stock. They were having a sale on Buell parts so everything was 25% off. The bill was just under $50. Thanks to the folks on this board for posting the part numbers getting what I needed was very easy. The part numbers for the mirrors, N0161-2A8 left and N0162-2A8 right, are for the short mirrors. Just like ours. Apparently there are some longer ones available.
  16. When you do eventually write up the instructions it would be really nice if you posted them on this forum. I'll bet there are several stands sitting in garages belonging to people who got frustrated and gave up.
  17. I bought an extension with 180 degree swivel coupler from Ace Hardware. McMaster Carr has the same thing for $12.61 Part number 1090K47 I have to pull the wheel and reach in along the swing arm but every 12,000 miles is only once or twice a year.
  18. Look at the 4 page thread I just bumped to the top called. "I give up on the front u-joint."
  19. Hi neighbor. Had same thing happen to me a couple years ago and it was the intake boot had come loose. A backfire can do that.
  20. My '02 LeMans was converted to these little jewels a couple years ago. You need SB8125L for the front. The designation is based on the thread M8-1.25 and you need SB1010S for the rear and the clutch. Again the designation if based on M10-1.0 thread. This worked on my clutch but others had problems with the cone sealing in the bottom of the hole.
  21. I'd rather be hunting with @#$$#! Cheney than driving with Ted Kennedy.
  22. But how does one mitigate the possibility of geting bed sores?
  23. Most Manitoba barns have plenty of straw.
