  1. For those of you lined up to buy a 1100 Breva in October. October in Italian translates to 'spring thaw.' Pass the salt, please, it's gonna be a long winter.
  2. I'll bet the box has kryptonite in it. The PO was the arch nemesis of Superman. Lex Luthor.
  3. I have both bikes and the LeMans sidestand is in about the same place on both bikes so it would be about the same degree of difficulty. I would not know how the the sidestand could be relocated. Maybe the best thing would be for it to automatically pop up like the stand does on a Quota. 2002 and possibly 2003 were the only years for the bubbling paint. If you are the streetfighter type of rider that pushes the limits of the bike, the suspension improvements of the Olins would be worth the extra cost.
  4. Suuuweeeeet!!!! Babe's not bad either.
  5. Chase Harper also makes a very nice product. www.chaseharper.com I don't know if they are still in business but I've been using an Eclipse tankbag for about 25 years.
  6. There are two types of people in this world. Those that divide people into two types and those who do not.
  7. I recognize this picture. It is for an engine for a ship being built in Japan. Touted as the largest diesel ever made.
  8. My spring broke in '02 and was replaced at 7500 miles. I now have 24,000 miles on it and the bike is still good to go. Don't know or care if I have the correct pawl arm. I carry a spare spring as a talisman to ward off the evil spring gods. Seems to work too.
  9. Pulverized rhinoserous horn.
  10. Maggie and I got to the rally around 5PM Friday afternoon and to say the area is nice is an understatement. My guess is that there were about 80 people in attendance. The weather turned out to be perfect. The roads around this area are exciting as well. Many thanks to the people who out on the rally as well as those who showed up and made the event worthwhile. http://www.kodakgallery.com/BrowsePhotos.j...=1&sort_order=0
  11. I've talked to a number of prople with bubbling issues and have heard some extreme opinions. Some have gotten their cases replaced and are happy while others say in retrospect they would have taken the trinkets simply because their bikes were down for a whole riding season. I think it's a crapshoot. It would be nice if the swap could be scheduled 9 months in advance so it is done during the off season but we all know how well the Italians are at keeping schedules. I elected to do nothing. I started to put in a claim. I wanted another set of saddlebags. My bike already has the Hepco Becker mounts but HB bags was not one of the options I could pick for the LeMans. I would rather have nothing than those soft bags and that is what I got. For what it's worth I did turn in two warranty claims on this bike, the shifter spring and the transmission gasket leak, and they were both handled very expediently but I was not going to put him through the grief of replacing the cases.
  12. I found that if I spread my left leg out I can look down and see the tail end of the sidestand if it is in the up position.
  13. If you look at Dr Gils crash pictures you will notice the Throttle Rocker on his.
  14. Check with the Havens first. I'll bet they have something you will like. I have Vista Cruise on mine. A number of V11 owners swear by Throttlemeister. Give Todd some notice as he might have to order.
  15. One other possibility is the big breather hose that comes up out of the bell housing and connects to the spine frame is loose at its lower connection. Oil will drip down into the bell housing and fall out the weep hole at the bottom and onto the crossover.

    BREAK IN

I was on a water ski vacation last week and the increase in gas prices had its sting. We took the truck, boat, and the bike on the trip. $70 in gas for the truck just to get there and back. $80 in gas for the boat and $10 in gas for the bike. Costs last year were about one third of what they were this year. If costs continue spiraling upwards at this rate, next year I will try skiing behind a sailboat.
  17. I got my Hepco Becker brackets from MG Cycle. Good people!
  18. October? Watch out for the leaves that time of the year. All the oranges and browns will detract you from seeing that black bear crossing the road.
  19. Some people look at my bike and say, "Dirty." I look at my bike and say, "Ridden."
  20. Nice looking SS but will your motorcycle fit in the trunk?
  21. When I removed that shield from my headlight I found it to be interesting riding the bike at night. The headlight beam seemed to have a halo around it and I could see squirrels in the trees. Eventually I trashed the whole headlight system and installed a sealed beam. Word of caution. Get one of those lense protectors. The type that is a clear film that sticks to the lense. A rock came up from nowhere and put a hole in my lense. At around $250 to replace it's obvious why I went the $27 (and a lot of patience ) sealed beam route.
  22. Curses. And I thought I might be able to use my Discover card and get 'cash back awards' when I buy parts.

    PITA

Throttlemeisters are very nice but Vista Cruise is under $30. Very simple installation if your throttle is like mine.
  24. Pictures? Oops!
  25. This happened to me last summer. Fortunately the problem went away when I put in another tank of gas.
