  1. Finally. Someone is selling a Guzzi with a decent sized gas tank.
  2. Have you moved to Raleigh yet? Think you will make it to the Guzzis of the Blue Ridge Rally? August 5-7 near Cruso NC. A lot of energetic sport riders, even some young riders show up for this event? NORTH CAROLINA GUZZIS IN THE BLUE RIDGE RALLY Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground, Cruso, North Carolina. Good deal. There is safety in numbers. Should be an enjoyable trip. I'm sure Don will have the truck gassed up just in case.
  4. After 22,000 miles my bike is now oozing a tiny bit of oil in this area and I'm going to try the non-invasive repair this week. I just hope I can get the surface clean enough for the 'sensor safe' gasket cement to adhere.
  5. After one has posessed a trusty Vert he will find the other 4 speeds to be overkill.

Bill, Since you are planning a trip I presume the bike has had a good once over by someone who has experience in finding potential problems before they manifest themselves (Wayne). Do you have a MGNOC contact list? A tire repair kit?
  7. The wife and I will be there Saturday morning on the LeMans. We will be camping with a group of Guzzisti. Although Jack and Joan Arnold will not have a booth this year a couple dealers and MGNA will be represented. Stainless Cycle at 214, 216, 218 Speakers at 2 & 3 EE near the BSA Club Joe Kenny at DD5
  8. What Jason said. Inspect connections and use dielectric grease judiciously.
  9. My ex-mother-in-law always carries a coffee can. No matter how many times she tells the grandkids to use the facilities before a trip there is always one or two that have to go within a half hour of getting in the car.
  10. Do you know what your idle speed is? Should be 1100 RPM +/-50. I find my idle speed to fluctuate a little depending on how hard I've been flogging it.
  11. I use a RAM mount for my Garmin V on both my bikes and have never had a problem with it. RAM makes what they call a mirror mount. The ball is mounted on a flat plate. 38mm to the right is a 11mm hole to which the mirror stalk passes through. I found a M10 fine thread screw at a local screw specialty shop. I believe McMaster Carr also sells the screws.
  12. Another good place to find standard torque specifications is from Greg Bender's Loop Frame site. Although the specs are for Loop Frames you will find the torques are the same for newer bikes in most cases. http://www.thisoldtractor.com/gtbender/loo..._specifications Here is another. http://www.guzzitech.com/TorqueSpecs.html
  13. True. This fix has helped several bikes on the Wildguzzi forum.
  14. There is a thread around here somewhere about replacing the spring. It's a good how to. Starts with disconnecting the battery, removing the starter, tilting the bike over so the oil doesn't run out or drain it ahead of time. One of the M6 screws is a tight squeeze between the screw and the frame so you'll need to cut off a piece of allen wrench to remove that pesky screw. I had mine done the easy way, it was still under warrantee. I carry a spare spring right next to my karma bell.
  15. Number 25 is the infamous pawl spring.
  16. There are several pictures on the previous page. The first one tells the story. To the left of the filter is a copper tube and to the left of that tube is the inlet spigot. From the looks of it there is only about 20mm of spigot sticking below the copper tube and that is all the farther the spigot can penetrate the hole in the top of the sump strainer. I'll bet there is another 5mm beneath the spigot and the bottom of the pan. Look at the dipstick. The oil level is probably 35mm above the top of the sump strainer. When the oil is sloshed to the back of the sump it's easy for me to see why there is some slurping and burping going on.
  17. The air will get in through the path of least resistance. The screen does put some resistance and the top of the screen is another quarter inch or so below the top of the screen cover. When I look at the two systems this hole in the top is the most obvious difference.
  18. I would like to offer a suggestion as to why the spine frames sometimes suck air into the lube system and the Tontis do not. Both have their inlets at the very bottom of the sump. They both draw the oil through the sump screen but the inlet on the spine frames passes through a hole in the top of the cover on the sump screen. There is an appreciable amount of clearance in this hole. When a bike rockets forward the oil in the sump lurches back exposing this hole. Air goes in this hole and is drawn into the inlet through a vortex which quickly goes away after the hole is recovered when the oil goes back forward. One could slide an o-ring around the inlet pipe to 'semi-close' this area to see if the problem goes away.
  19. I think that sounds like a good deal. Did it come with a brake line?
  20. This thread subject would have taken a completely different meaning if Tx had started it. Levees yes, dykes no.
  21. The last time I bought one Eish Enterprises had one in stock. 330-738-3944 Other likely sources would be www.mgcycle.com, MPH, Moto International, or Harpers.
  22. High in the mid 70's here yesterday and today with low humidity.
  23. If he's really doing a wheelie he must have an aftermarket pinion in his final drive. Those things tend to break, you know.
  24. I had similar thoughts when I installed mine. Maybe Richard needs to push the envelope a little bit and make it electronic. After all, I'm sure there is at least one extra watt in the charging system.
  25. The one. The only. The original. See bshpilot's avatar. That's built in the Garagemahal.
