  1. The nuetral switch is kind of above and behind the shift lever, and (I think) you have to pull the starter cover off to get to it. On mine, it's got a violet wire running to it. Real easy to get at.
  2. Might try checkin each fuse across the leads with a multimeter for continuity as well. Sometimes you can miss the break if it's small enough. Sounds like a fuse if everything else works but the starter.
  3. I use a jack stand on the right swingarm pivot, a car jack on the left to lift it off the kickstand, then a 2x6 under said kickstand to keep everything level. NOT the best way...I'm sure I'm asking for disaster sooner or later. I'm a little apprehensive wrt Harbor Freight's stuff-I had a sandblaster who's regulator blew off and flew across the garage the first time I pressurized it. But, for stuff like a bike lift I'm sure it should be just fine.

    PAINT

Yeah, my Aprilia top box mount broke a weld and spent around 800 miles or so digging a quarter-sized hole into the tail cowling on the Tenni before I noticed it. Good times. I figure I'll just paint the whole damn thing in a few years vice trying to get a 'perfect' match for blending.
  5. Looks like a good project for the winter. After I get the interior back in my Comet. And the motor in the truck. And finish the cabinets in the kitchen...ah, I'll get to it by spring.
  6. So, if I am seeing the sketch correctly, these two relays and the associated wiring go in between the original headlight connector and the lamp assy. itself? Thanks!
  7. FWIW, we use the nitrogen in aircraft tires 'cause it's more stable WRT temp changes and doesn't develop moisture like O2 that can cause corrosion. Also supposed to hold pressure longer. All this is, of course, on aircraft tires running 100-175 PSI, so don't know how or if those benefits transfer to a car tire running 35 PSI.
  8. I think I'm gonna save up my money for this JW Speaker setup . Not cheap, but I've heard it's a good piece of kit. Same one Victory uses I guess.
  9. Ah, so that's the only issue then? Thanks for the clarification...I thought there might have been some other Guzzi Black Magic going on. Thanks all.
  10. I haven't looked into this, as my white stripes are still in tact, but does anyone know if there are any other indicators with which to line the two halves of the Uni up, should the indicator lines somehow wear off?
  11. I have to stick with the 916 on looks alone. Absolutely one of the best looking/sounding bikes around. I loved looking at my 748R, but that went away in about 85 miles...unbelievably painful bike to live with day to day. That's why I love my V11; alomst as good looking, and infinitley more liveable.
  12. 170 is the number I've always heard...the price is about right. That's really a low number if you think about it. In comparison, in 1963 they made only 2250 or so Mercury Comet S-22 convertibles (one of which I own as well) and that's considered fairly rare. That being said, these cars command a little over 3 grand over a regular car, so it's not that far outta whack I think.
  13. The BMW's are nice, but the BIG deciding factor for me happens when you mash the starter button. The BMW sounds, umm, kinda cheesy to me. Really lame, actually. As far as ergos, comfort, etc... I think the Goose is fine. Of course with any bike, it takes a little conditioning (and some rubber hose on the foot pegs) before your body will allow any real mileage. Personally I've covered 10,000 this year with no real problems, and range/reliability has been great. Around 75-85 mph on the highway gets me around 170-180/tank, and that number goes way up if you drop the speed down to around 60. It's all wind in the face, after all, but I'm a bit partial to the LeMans in the end.

Well admittedly, that's 20k total. I bought the biked with 9k, so I guess that's around eleven thousand for the year. Either way, I feel your pain.

And now, for a bodge relating to the Guzzi, I found out today that my Aprillia top box mount has broken three welds. The end result? I just noticed this morning that I have a 1" diameter, 1/8" deep hole dug in to the back of my tail cowling. Good times for a Tenni owner, as I'll prolly have to have the whole damn thing re-done after I fix the 'glass damage. Good times...all I'm trying to do is break 20k miles this year. S#@t.

    Confession Thread

I had a Porsche 914 that I re-did back in high school. When I installed the carpet kit, I secured the carpet to the firewall with beautiful button-head stainless screws...that went right into the front mounted gas tank. All twenty-four of them. Sure enough, three hours later I had an entire floorpan full of a nasty gasoline/tar soundproofing molotoff cocktail. Way to go.
  17. I sort of manufactured my own, using a 3"(about) piece of hollow nylon spacer with rubber grommets around it, and an allen head thru-bolt with a nut on the end holding the whole taco together. The idea being that the grommets were a little longer than the nylon spacer, allowing some flex for vibes once the thru bolt was snugged down. I got all the pieces at Home Depot and did it in the parking lot, since it broke on me halfway between San Diego and here. There's probably a better/easier way to do this, but I tend to overbuild stuff, and I haven't had a problem in 10,000 miles since.
  18. As soon as something goes wrong with my stock headlight...\ http://jwspeaker.stores.yahoo.net/himohe.html
  19. I've almost bought one on three different occasions...It's only a matter of time I'm afraid. They keep offering good deals, eventually I'll have to bite.
  20. Yeah, they'd much rather just ignore your phone calls and blow off your dealer.
  21. Yeah, unfortunately, this is another Guzzi I want just bad enough to wait on until a good deal on a used one comes around.
  22. I'm going to try to get over there for the weekend. Probably show up Saturday in the AM, stay overnight, leave Sunday sometime. I just hope I can get away from here for a weekend...
  23. And a 1200 at that!
  24. Heh. We have a Summit Distribution center/retail outlet here in Reno. Good times! Can get a bit expensive, though...
