  1. Best wishes, we're all glad it wasn't worse.

  3. I'll see if I can't get a picture posted for you-I think finding a new one will be pretty tough, as none of the parts listings I've seen even really reference the Tenni specifically. If you have any luck though, please let me know-I spilled gas all over the place removing my tank and did a number on the plastic "Tenni" emblem on the right side cover.
  4. Good to know- I asked for the total cost with shipping about two weeks ago, and haven't heard back yet. Guess I'll give it a little more time. Thanks!
  5. Hey all, I'm still having a hell of a time tracking down an alternator for anything less than $300 for my Tenni. I'd just have it re-wound, but the rotor somehow came "out of round", and has been contacting the stator in one spot for awhile it looks like. The whole thing looks trashed. Anyways, I'll pay it if I have to-the weather is getting nice and I can't hold out much longer-but thought I'd see if anybody had any ideas first. I tried to pick one up from HMB Guzzi off Ebay, but he hasn't contacted me since the auction ended, I'm thinking maybe he doesn't want to ship to the US?
  6. My second pick following the Guzzi would be the Monster, although I like the air cooled 2 valves better than the S4-the S4 has a lot of crap going on with the water cooling, and the one I rode was a lot less street friendly than the older air-cooled version (can't argue with the horspower numbers, though-the S4 hauls ass!) Kind of a pain in the ass, really, where the 2 valve motors are pretty easy to deal with daily. Sounds better, too!
  7. Just for the record, the entire time I've messed with this problem, the only fuse to have blown has been the one for the instrument lights. 30A number three has been a trooper, as troubling as that is. Cost me an extra rectifier.
  8. Yeah I had checked the rectifier, blamed that. Ended up being that the rotor was out of round, and was causing a short every time it contacted the stator, judging by the rub marks on both components. Specs between the two yellow leads should be around .3-.4 ohm as I recall, with no resitance between yellow lead and ground. What a pain in the ass-still waiting on a alternator unit.

    THIS MAN

You never know-she might be into it. Ever see "Secretary"? Doesn't look like she signed it but, hey-you don't get what you don't ask for!
  10. Thanks for the recommendation- I'm going to try and get the parts thru this guys online auction, hopefully it works out, as he's asking about half of what the dealer wants for the same part.
  11. Hey now, some of us are.
  12. Just my , but I have one that was installed on my bike by the PO. Not really a big fan. I do really like the flashing taillight thing, but for the most part I keep the photocell covered and just ride with the highbeams on all the time. I think it's reasonably just as effective, and doesn't drive oncoming traffic nuts. (Though I do understand the whole "rather annoy the cars than get hit" mentality).
  13. I like the cut of your jib.
  14. Got the new Buell mirrors installed on the bike today- looks great, just enough added length on the stalks to see past the elbows and, once they're on there a few minutes, don't look any different than stock. Great mod!
  15. I looked at the ducati piece and, while it looked very similar, my guzzi piece has longer "fins" extending from it, which I believe have a bit of a cooling effect, stirring the air sort of. I think the Duc's rotor is partially in oil, too (??) as I remember so I wonder if there's a reliabilty issue there. Also, the price ($375) includes both rotor and stator, which doesn't sting as much. I might just replace them both while I've got it apart. Thanks for the help!
  16. Judging by the cost of replacements, I'd almost (almost, mind you) agree! But damn, does she look good sittin there static! I'll post pics of the culprit rotor/stator as soon as I get my damn digital camera fixed. (electrical gods mad at me?) Pretty interesting damage.
  17. It'd be nice, that's for sure!

    G8

    Agreed.
  19. I'm down for maintenance. Electrical gremlins to the tune of a bad alternator. Should be back on the road soon. (Not soon enough, mind you)
  20. That would be a lot funnier if it wasn't so close to the truth. Sort of parallels my rectifier change!
  21. Yep, I did fry the new rectifier, replaced with a new new one. Once I got the correct schematic and verified the wiring, still no charge. Started looking at the alternator. Read the resistance between the two yellow leads, read out at .3-.4 ohms, which the local guzzi guy said was spec. But then I read from lead to frame, and it reads resistance as well, which as I understand it is no buono. (shorted winds). All this stems form an intermittent charging problem I've had since I got the bike. Thanks for the info, I'll give these sites a shot.
  22. I guess I've toasted the generator (stator?) on my LeMans. (my fault, I wired in the replacement rectifier backwards, apparently took out the generator with it) Parts guy sez it'll cost every bit of $375 to replace with OEM. Any ideas?
  23. I went thru a bunch of starter fluid and then burned the starter out on my 82 magna last spring after forgetting that I turned the fuel petcock off at the end of the previous riding season. Oops. Last week, I replaced the rectifier on the tenni. Since it was aftermarket, I had to re-do the wiring. Used the wrong schematic, wired it backwords. Fried said rectifier. Replaced again, now the stator's toasted. Great.
  24. This is the best thing that's happened to me all week. Thank you, thank you all so much!!!
