  1. You know, I have a new aftermarket LH switch pod to wire in that I bought from Sonny Angels place a few years back...my high beam switch bought the farm years ago. I wonder if it's in the switch? Maybe I'll tackle that here soon.
  2. With the exception of Buell stalks they're stock (incandescent) bulbs. Not 100% sure but I've never changed the flasher relay since I bought the thing in '04, so it's probably stock. Heck I've never even looked at it to be honest, since it does in fact "work". It just seems to start in the 'off' position, as that's about the amount of time it takes to light. Nothing new; it's always done that. It's just that now that the bike has settled in (or I've settled to it) this is one of the little things I've been focusing on. That, and I ran out of money for my never-ending R69S resto project and frankly I need a change of focus.
  3. Okay, so I know there used to be a couple threads on this, but I couldn't find them... Does anyone recall if there's a solution to the delay in turn signal operation? Or am I crazy and this is only a problem on my bike? It's like it starts on the 'off' part of the flasher. You'd think I'd have dealt with this by now after ten years of ownership, but it's only just now far enough up the project list for me to worry about it. It's driven me nuts for the longest.
  4. Particularly on these bikes...you can trash the case pretty quickly with the way our sidestands mount.
  5. Hope you can get something going there. Where's the piaggio dealer on the island? Never saw one out there (I spend around 3-6 months every other year or so out in Bahrain). I won't be back out there for a couple years, but I do enjoy it there.
  6. I recently retired my Nolan modular for a new Shoei Neotec. It fits my head shape better than the Nolan did, with more room between the chin bar and my...well, my chin. It's much quieter than any of my other modulars have been but is still louder than a regular full face. No bad whistles or buffeting though, and they've obviously put some time into making it as quiet as possible. Airflow is excellent, better than any other helmet I've had. Fogging is a non-issue with the pin-lock shield, and still not bad with it out. It does have a chin skirt that works well. The shield has enough resolution in the ratcheting mechanism to allow (to me) just the right amount of opening, which has always been an annoying problem on other helmets. Seems like I always wished for a half click up or down, and this one has it. The built in sun visor is well designed, and easy to use. It holds in place via friction instead of detents so it's easy to place where its needed. The only thing I don't love (and this is minor) is that it uses double d-rings instead of a ratchet type strap, and I'm always forgetting to tighten my chin strap before I put my gloves on. Clearly my problem though, and not the helmets. The flip up action is much easier and intuitive than my Nolan was, which I always found f*&king annoying. In all, I love it. Wasn't cheap, but feels worth it. I'm hooked on the flip-ups though, just for the convenience of it all plus I ride with ear plugs anyway so the added noise is a non-issue. And though I shouldn't do it, I do ride around town with the face open when it's hot and wear sunglasses to protect me eyeballs.
  7. Nope, it's a universal problem. Everyone wants to pay less than it's worth and get more than they paid for. Not just a bike problem, either. I've recently decided to sell my vintage boat that I've fixed up a bit over the years, with an equally vintage, good running outboard, and all I get is people griping about small s*&t that, by all accounts, should be expected on a 1959 anything. Hold your line and the right buyer will surface. But I agree it's frustrating to say the least.
  8. Thanks for the positive feedback, I should mention that I first became aware of it when I came across an old thread from dlaing from December 2005. I have no interest in promoting the Electrosport just trying to help out. No problem. In hindsight what I had thought was a bad regulator was in fact an out-of-round rotor that would intermittantly contact the stator once hot (weird, huh??) so I'm lucky I didn't kill the new electrosport one since I didn't find the problem until after I installed the new one. Regardless, it's held up well. I'm planning on using one of their kits on my airhead here soon as well.
  9. I installed an Electrosport regulator on mine about 7 years ago, and have had zero problems. I don't know which one off hand but it connects directly to the battery, and the charging light still works as well.
  10. Nice bike...mine is 128 and I know there is one other Tenni here in SoCal somewhere, but don't know the number. I remember seeing one at the GP @ Luguna Seca a couple a years ago in a parking lot just off of Ducati Island. Was that yours? Nope, I haven't made it out to that lately unfortunately!
  11. Nice bike...mine is 128 and I know there is one other Tenni here in SoCal somewhere, but don't know the number.
  12. Before this, I had K&N pods on the bike. The induction/intake noise was way louder than the mistral exhaust. I can barely hear any induction noise now. I do prefer the induction noise over the exhaust, but that's just my opinion. So far the bike is running much better with this intake instead of the pod filters. Can't wait to get it back from the dyno tuner later today! I found that with the pods you have to do something about adding some length back into the intake track or the bike's unhappy. Once I added the original runners in between the K&N's and the TB's things were much better. Still probably not as good as the stock box but much better and not as loud either.
  13. That makes sense. Not that I'd really suggest it to anyone (and for fear of labeling myself as a little shady in maintenance practice) but for several years I was too cheap for a rear wheel stand. I used two jack stands to support the rear on the big nuts at the bottom of each pork chop any time I had to have the wheel off.
  14. If you're talking about rotating the engine to TDC, I just put the bike in like 3rd gear and turn the back wheel. Not too bad with the plugs out. I guess if you didn't have a rear wheel stand that wouldn't work so well.
  15. Could be a dead spot in the TPS. Try swapping left to right and see if it follows. There's a harley p/n for a TPS that is supposed to work for much cheaper than what MG charges...search the forum for it.
  16. I have had a few people ask. I could probably do a small run, but, frankly, my machining skills are good enough for me, but not production... So are Moto Guzzi's, in many ways...
  17. It should be the same GM 7/8-18 on all of them. I'll see if they have one at the parts store near here and take a look. It would be cool to use that setup, but then we'd need a supplier for adapters...
  18. Please tell us where you sourced this spiffy little item. Could be a game changer. ADVthanksANCE -Jack I looked around on ebay and came across it. I believe that one is an Autometer unit. The Stewart Warner 82527 looks to be an even lower profile, but I dunno how tall it would be after an adapter was set up to mate to the trans.
  19. Looks good! I have the Rizoma throttle/grips on mine as well. You're right about the catalog not showing fitment but I called the distributor and he said it would work, and it definitely does. Very high quality, as it should be for the price.
  20. Welcome back, great looking bike
  21. I dunno, having been a helo crewman most of my career (both heavy lift -53's and later HH-1N's), I'd say it's at least a tie! We had HH-1N Hueys in the SAR team I flew with, and the sound of that thing beating the air from across a valley at altitude gets me all misty-eyed
  22. I don't know what the mapping is like on the "race" ECU, but on the stock one it was definitley too lean for mine. If you can't swing something like the MyECU, I'd say that with pods you'd at least want a PCIII.
  23. Congrats! Probably the only one in the state I'd imagine.
