I DONT KNOW, I can get a 08 zero miles Tuono in the color I want for $8500 in TX but they would have to ship it to me and I can get an 08 brand new super duke with zero miles for $8999 22 miles away so they are almost exactly the same price I DONT KNOW!!!! If it's down to the two, I'd take the super duke, just to try something different. thats how I feel as well and its local I think I'll go down and give them a shot and if not I can make a decent down payment when I get my taxes if I have to, they made it sound like they have more than one hold over from 2008 which is crazy to me for such a sweet bike. Great reviews comfy but would need that gel seat or one with a different profile it pushes me forward like the stock guzzi seat used to till I got me a maund seat. The aprilia does have an amazing seating position for me so I can't deny that plus I have 2 oil filters and a handful of tricky bits but I can easily sell them if I got a duke. That, and the Tuono looks like it's just missing bodywork post-crash rather than looking the part of a legit streetfighter. Which it is, I suppose, but still I like the look of the Dukes better.

All good feedback I need something thats a good all arounder that I'll mostly just ride to work, around town and occasional rides over 100mi and finally one ride of about 400-800mi once a year. I'm only going to have one bike so an all out touring bike would be too much a dedicated sport bike might not be enough although the RSVR was pretty damn solid I won't lie to ya. When I think about it I really did like that speed rush getting onto the freeway and knowing that if I had to I could get away from any situation with a little extra wrist(except when I need to back up this time) If I got another V11 it would be a lemans but the breva fits me better and was more comfy when I sat upon it. I love my DR650; just took it on a 2000 mile on/off road trip in fact, and it did well. I finally figured out what all those Quota, GS and other D/S riders are talking about now-they're not as weird as I thought and the riding position is great for the long haul. Incidentally, I just happened to stop by Sonny Angel's in San Diego, and he actually has a never registered, 3 (three) mile V11 Lemans in red and gray there just waiting for someone to love her...
  4. They look exactly like the mounts for my Teknics from the pictures. As far as weight goes, I haven't weighed the bags but have had them full many times with no problem (clothes, wine, groceries, etc.). The top rack on the other hand broke on me with around 15-20 lbs in it. Not the whole thing, just one of the support brackets. It just doesn't have a lot of angle to support weight where it mounts to the subframe.
  5. Hey Kurt, I saw your Blackjack at the Coronado speed fest yesterday. Very cool machine, and the build quality is sharp! My Tenni is down for a headlight switch and rear caliper rebuild, but I'll be there again today on my airhead BMW. I'll keep an eye out for you.
  6. I've thought about this a few times as well, and just haven't followed through on getting it over to a driveshaft specialist to take a look. Not sure if it's feesable or not, but I'm guessing someone here has looked into it further.
  7. Sounds like it caused quite a bit of damage...hope everyone and their bikes/property are ok. Let us know?
  8. What he said.
  9. Seems to me it's like most other things...if you've got your sh*t together, and are following the laws as they apply to your state, then you have nothing to worry about. Meanwhile, they might get a few of the idiots that are causing all the bad publicity off the streets. Any type of profiling is usually (not always, mind you) the result of some generalized opinion based at least in part by truths. Being asked to verify your status of compliance here in the US usually comes with a "thanks for your cooperation and have a nice day" at the end. I don't know why we're so concerned here with offending any possible offenders. That said, more than likely it's just another way to line the pockets of the states a little better. We wouldn't want the state governments to increase their efficiency too much...
  10. Well, I ran mine using ~5/8 id hose out to the back above the passenger foot peg/below the seat, using a k&n auto-style crankcase breather at the end, making sure to leave enough length so that it can go up under the tank a bit before bending down towards the back to keep oil from seeping out. I'll try to post a pic tonight.
  11. I have the same issues on mine...look up world class valve specs, and verify the 525mv at idle on the tps...it helped mine considerably. I'm in the process of making some intake runners in an attempt to lengthen the intake length closer to stock while keeping the K&N's. Also, read up on the ETS holder threads...I think there's something to be said for the plastic holder if you're running the brass one. Following all this, I'm going to have a map made up at a local dyno shop with Guzzi experience. Let us know what you come up with.

    Tire time

I also have the Pirelli Diablo Stradas...plenty of grip and good life (~5-6k for the back, a little more on the fronts). That said, I've never had anything else on there, so I can't say if there's anything better. They've never done anything unpredictable or scary, so I'll stick with them I think.
  13. I also have talked with North Hollywood Speedo about either refurbishing the stock set-up, or more likely, replacing the guts with more reliable internals. He (the gentleman on the phone) said he wasn't sure what could be done but that he was willing to try. I have almost pulled the trigger on a motogadget setup at least three times, but have stayed hopeful that I can get the Veglias to operate correctly. Maybe I should just give up the chase on getting these things to work correctly.
  14. When the Japanese bike makers were trying so hard to emulate the Harleys, they were doing it with water-cooled twins that emulated the look of air-cooled motors. They ran better, made more power and were far more reliable. And really, really boring. I've always disliked Hondas only because they're too good. It sounds rediculous but it's the truth. Moving to oil-cooling (like the newer BMW's) would split the difference pretty well, wouldn't it? They could get better tolerances, more power, and better cooling and still keep most of the good looks and mechanical clatter...
  15. There never was a DLaing.
  16. Drum brakes in good shape aren't that scary. They're just fine for the most part. Plus, they look waaay cooler and correct on the vintage bikes. Really, I'd consider going through them (new springs, clips and all-not just fresh shoes) and keeping them.
  17. Doesn't that go along with living in the Bay Area anyway? Sorry your bike's been so much trouble...hopefully you get her sorted soon.
  18. GP Cycles in San Diego has (or had very recently) a green one- I test rode it. Sweet little bike. Not sure about the fairing fitment, though. Seems like it would-there's nothing strange about the headlight setup that I noticed. I'm looking at one of the ones that JC Whitney sells for the BMW R90/6 I'm thinking about getting...maybe that'd be an optiion as well?
  19. I also have the FBF's, and love them. They've been on the bike since new, and have held up well. Even the carbon fiber has held up with occasional cleaning to keep off the fade. And of course, they sound great. Still kinda want a quat-d box, though...

    Guzzichondria

Congrats on finding such a pristine V11...that color combo is nearly my favorite (next to the Tenni, of course). Seems like, if nothing else, you have the perfect mentality for Guzzi ownership. Just ride the damn thing, and fix what pops up as required. Like any other forum, the problems with these things are focused on and discussed here, which makes them seem more fragile and problematic than they really are. After you get the basic bugs worked out, you find out these things are more or less bullet-proof.
  21. I fit one on my Cali Aluminum that came from a Yamaha cruiser off Ebay. I just asked the different sellers to give me the measurments until I found one close enough to work. Maybe you could find something similar? Think it set me back $50 or so... Nice bike you got!
  22. Yes, I remember reading that. I had been following these threads and waiting for a distilled thought process on the subject. I think probably a few runs on the dyno won't hurt if I can find a good operator, and I will probably invest in a wide-band set-up for the fine tuning and tinker factor. I know that, at the moment, the mapping is far from good on the V11 since the switch to pods and FBF cans down here in San Diego. I'm just not ready to pay for a blind fix without some better knowledge on the product I'm paying for. Particularly since I could care less about peak power-I'm more interested in a clean powerband.
  23. So then maybe a little of both is in order. Food for thought. I just hate paying shop rates for much of anything. Thanks for the input, all.
  24. I am also assuming, due to the difference in pricing, that a narrow band sensor will not- is this more or less correct? I've done all the work on my bikes, but am still trying to get smart w/ the mapping. Would rather not pay for dyno tuning if I don't have to. Thanks, raz.
  25. So I've been following the discussions on all the fuel managment options, and have a question on the use of a wideband sensor in general: Is a wideband O2 sensor, in conjunction with an AFR gauge, a worthwhile investment for tweaking a power commander map, or is it better to just pay for dyno tuning? In other words, is it as simple as going for a decent air-fuel ratio throughout the range or am I oversimplifying it?
