It's reasuring to know that good drugs are helping the poor souls in the northern hemisphere survive yet another long cold winter. -

on the subject of knives. recently i flew interstate and in my hand luggage i accidently left my humble pocket knife in my bum bag. now there's been a lot of hoo haa abought airport security since 911 and granted this was an internal flight but with all the millions of dollars spent on airport security etc. how was my knife able to pass through x-ray three times without detection. not that i'm complaining just sure lucky i never tried to get a box cutter through. -
Crashed Truck Miracle

that driver must buy a lottery ticket . but then again he may have used up all his luck after that one. -
it is the common practice here to erect tensioned cable barrier to arrest vehicles from straying into oncoming traffic, so is often found down the centre of four and six lane motorways allso used in areas where a dropoff exists at outer edge of roads. these cable barriers consist of several tensioned 19mm steel cables held seperated at around 250mm centres by thin folded metal posts designed to bend if impacted, these posts are usualy around 3 metres apart. now they say this system works and is much cheaper than the old armco steel barrier. now i've seen sections tens of metres long flattened by large trucks so it seems it doesn't work for the hight and weight of large trucks [cable barriers generaly around 750-900mm high] but it does work for your average[ car wherin lies your average idiot ] now in all the years they've been there i've not heard of one motorcycle experience of impacting with one. ''the motorcycle fraternity call them shredders'' now the point i'm making is these barriers are not painted at all let alone yellow or orange or adorned with reflectors. i'm guesing this system exists in other countries and was hoping to hear of others views. ciao

IMHO you made the statement that responsibility rests with you. we don't live in a world protected from our mistakes or just plain stupidity and as m/cyclists we are even more responsible for our own actions as we are seperated from those who commonly ''just have a little ding'' if our society has to constantly look at saving it self from litigation its stuffed. it pisses me that many trees have been removed from parks and public places in my area woooh a limb may fall on the picnickers'' we better remove the tree'' or we may be sued! better to ask the question! what did this tim allen do wrong. his life was in his hands and not the schools. thats my 2 cents.

no its not! and it definately sent me nooo positive messages, which leaves me to ask! what is it used for. noot a sports bike, and i definetly would not go out back with it.

Who Is This Old Geezer? *

congratulations ben, and to your partner.. -
well it seems to me the monarch has total power [in a covert way] as in knighthoods, and peerage, still rules here. ''my lord'' has a different meaning than in the states.

''BLOODY ROUND ABOUGHTS'' got me thinking back to going to alpine rallys back in the 70's. had to go via bloody canberrra, biggest rounaboughts i ever saw,and never since! the whole bloody place is circles. i swear some of them r/aboughts took us miles off course and hours to recover [they didn't have pubs on corners] the whole place is fu@ked...full of vagabonds and desperate bland faced pale public servents. straight lines and big circles. the heart of australia is heartless. and burnt. and pete i feel sorry that you live in a place 100's of kays from decent bends. i live where god lives! google that. -

well said ouiji a very good introduction spiel. and many happy returns for the day. [you old codger] just keep on keepin on. and welcome to the forum ''firecracker'' uote name='Ouiji Veck' date='Feb 2 2007, 04:32 PM' post='112806'] Hi Firecracker...you'll never regret going Guzzi...if you really love motorcycling. I've been an avid rider for over 35yrs. Even spent 10 yrs. racing everything from MX to RR to ice racing. To this day all I want to do is ride...camp ..ride I rode mostly performance inlines after teething on British twins in the 70s. I got my first Guzzi 6 yrs. ago....a 1980 1000SP ...after a season on that I was hooked. It took me another 5 years to land my V11 LeMans..after a 3 year affair with a lovely Ducati. My 02 LeMans is a little quirky but nothing serious. I went down the forum here and headed all the little gremlins off @ the pass. 27,000 mi and I've never been stranded. (well once, close to home...wheel bearing.) None of that matters. The thrill and satisfaction of a Guzzi just makes everything else "white bread". I think the aforementioned oil filter problem is a rare occasion. I've never thought twice about it but will pay extra attention when spinning a new one on. There's people on this forum that are the quintesential Guzzi Gurus.... Greg Field of Moto International ..Seattle....he has the inside skinny on the oil filter deal.... Pete Roper... Guzzi Proffesor and sit down comedian. AU ...down your way Todd Haven...Dr. of all things Guzzi...MPH down in Texas.. And a number of others who I am embarrased to leave out because of thier incredible contribution to this board, it's menbers and the fantastic bikes we ride and love. Get thee hence and log on 100km on one and let the big grin come. As much fun as Ducs, and Ks, and Rs and CBRs are, the Guzzi is just much more so. Thunder and grace.

my belief along with many others of my kind find it is the best'' time '' of your life when you can releive yourself of such things as personal time pieces and the constraints of being a slave of time. in our downhill years the relief of such burdens of time restraints is the reward deserved and earnt to live by the simple philosophy sun up sun down. what happens in between is mostly down to weather. and here's hopeing for a fine day wednesday the 10/1/07.
