  1. I'd like to know the weight comparison of Not to hi-jack a thread, but why not consider the several brands of carbon fiber wheels out there. OK, the rear is probably a "no can do" in carbon, but surely the front can be done as its the same as the Mille. Those BST's sure are sweet when I see them at shows. If magnesium is unreliable for the street, is it the same for carbon fiber too?
  2. Pepperoni - how did you do the valve covers? My original ones are starting to fade, the color look really close to the original red. It is paint I assume - brand, where did you buy it, color name? I'd really like to re do them this summer. Thanks!

    New Lemans

My '04 Nero with nearly 18K miles has been getting right around 40 mpg since new, a little more, a little less depending on the math. I routinely go 200 miles between fill ups, I have pushed it (not literally) to 220 once or twice. It tool like 5.1 or maybe 5.2 to refill. I really top it up too, to the brim. Right now I could have stopped tonight on the way home from work and filled up, this tank has 214 miles on it. As they say YMMV!
  4. Very sweet Golden, cool piece. You have some serious coin in that ride, and in your digs. Rock on man.
  5. Welcome Josh, there is a lot of knowledge to be gained from the group. Post a pic of the new ride for us all to check out. Ride it every day !!!
  6. I've got it taped on old school VHS. I think it will be broadcast again on Saturday 7:30 am. I can tape an extra copy and send it to someone who can do something with it - an takers?
  7. Thanks, Tom. That is what I figured with the pipes as high as you have them. It was my understanding, however, that there was an intermediate level of hanging the pipes... somewhere between where yours are and where the stock pipes are. Is that correct? Still have the same opinion (if that is indeed correct)? 88554[/snapback] There is only two positions AFAIK, unless someone made custom mounts. I've heard other say that the Teckno bags don't mount with the short Ti pipe hangers. When I mounted my Ti cans, I "tested" the lower mounting position. I didn't like the pull and stresses that I felt to get them to line up. YMMV.
  8. Like today for me 2 X...in the morning motoring through the parking lot at work I occasionally give the throttle a healthy yank. Later one of the shop guys (a fellow rider) asks "how was your power wheelie this morning?" To which I say "oh you heard me? Not bad, I've done better". Then later in the day stopping in front of the post office, a 20's-ish lad walking by stops in his tracks...says "That's a really cool bike" ... as I fill him on it being an Italian brand, a 2004, V-twin, yada yada I notice he never looks up to to acknowledge me, his eyes steadily locked on the Nero, taking in the details, he just repeats again "That's a really cool bike" as I walk away, thanking him for the compliments.
  9. I have a set of these shims installed in my '04 Nero. They have been in right around a year now, with more or less 8K mi. of riding. When I installed mine, I tightened them up good. Didn't use a torque wrench, just by feel. Both sides are good and tight, no issues with welds, etc. I say snug'em up and roll.
  10. Hmm....Jean-Marc what do you say? I'm not in any hurry to get a set, but I have been thinking along the lines of these or the Williamsburg risers. Is there anyone else to jump in??
  11. For one of those "more than one way to skin a cat" deals, I made a squaty "T" shaped cross bar thingy and attached to the top of the tab from my stock crossover.
  12. Ah - you have seen this ('04 Nero) listing here for this one for sale? 2,389 miles; perfect condition. Added M.G. luggage rack and have factory service manual. $12,000 OBO. Can deliver to some areas of country (USA). Pictures available on request. (479) 213-0605 kuna@centurytel.net.
  13. Yes, Superbikeplanet.com is good, I look at it at least once a day. cyclenews.com is OK too, as is roadracingworld.com
  14. There is another good set of articles (4) by Dennis Noyes at www.speedtv.com Try here Part 1 http://www.speedtv.com/articles/moto/motogp/21383/ Part 2 http://www.speedtv.com/articles/moto/motogp/21389/ Part 3 http://www.speedtv.com/articles/moto/motogp/21410/ Part 4 http://www.speedtv.com/articles/moto/motogp/21461/
  15. It will be a very interesting season, I'll be watching these races much more than I did this past year. Remember Bayliss will also be back in the mix. Barros will too, but he's hot and cold IMHO. I'll pull for Max for the underdog factor, but my money would be bet on Troy B.
  16. Hi Mike, 5 is the correct count. Many people here have had good sucess with an online site. Details can be found here: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...indpost&p=70470 A search on "relays" will bring up many results, regards.
  17. Very nice job Carl - and a sharp looking Sport. Does the coater have a color to match red of the Rosso model bits? What did the job cost ?
  18. I have a set from the original 7, they have been installed for close to a year now, or about 8K worth of riding. I highly recommend them. They have stayed tight and rattle free since I installed them. The OE sleeves are a graphite/mesh/asbestos like kind of construction and they seem to compress + degrade a little at a time during running. Eventually I couldn't tighten down on the clamps any more for fear of wringing off the clamp bolts. Turtle's design is solid metal to metal clamping that keeps its integrity. Get'em while you can......
  19. Man that sucks - throw stones as you might, the guy is still one of the top 10 (5?) rider in the world.
  20. The guy that made the crossover bushings/shims, I think his handle was "turtle". Anyway, from the set I bought from him, his snail mail is: Aaron Bard 5417 Spindrift Place Columbia MD 21045 I thought he posted a drawing...maybe I'm wrong.
  21. I'm pulling hard for Sete in'06! Ain't that saying "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"? Of course some would say Rossi is kill'in Sete
  22. Things like this can be all over the map. There is a good thread on Speedo cables on the forum. I happened to read it not long after getting my bike new. I think key to improving cable life is reducing the amount of bend in the elbow coming out of the trans. Now I have 14,700 miles, and both the speedo and cable are going great. (Of course I've jinxed it now...)
  23. Hey Anthony - glad to hear of another V11 LeMans owner out there in Maryland. Where did you get both bikes? Mine came from Speed's. Hey DeBen - my recent addition of a PCIII USB has given me a nice boost in roll on and throttle response. Last week she yanked up a very nice 1st gear power wheelie. No need for bumps, just grab a hand full of throttle and hang on. I will roll off the throttle a bit to compress the forks, then whack it open. Before the PCIII I could do this showboating, but with less height and some ping along with it. Now just a smooth roar from the Ti's. Man I hate winter comming on now
  24. Hi Darryl - I had a very similar experience with my '04 Nero the first day of ownership, and for the next couple of weeks. The long story is on the forum here, a basic search of my posts will bring it up easily. Long story short the problem was an intermittent fault with the original ECU. My dealer replaced the ECU after much other trouble shooting and that fixed the problem for me. Good luck.
