there is no such thing as a bad guzzi( well almost) alot of them have niggles, just sort them out WHEN they happen ,otherwise you end up with x10 faults to fix rather than 1 or 2. don't cut corners when working on them don't use sh*t wire and connectors when doing electral work do change the oils on time ( very cheap maintenence) don't run components to the death BUY AND THEN READ MR RICHARDSONS GUZZIOLOGY ( esp. the credo in the front )( if i ever meet him, i owe him lots of beer (english not that american slop)) do use good quality parts when you work on them , do EVERYTHING, as belt, braces, and a bit of string.

last year we had a new mg rep. he had to pay his own petrol ,supply his own car until they ( piaggio uk ) could sort out a company credit card and company car for him ( he is a rep ffs,you would have thought they would have it sorted out in a week?) three weeks later with credit card bill to pay,no money from piaggio to pay bill, rep promptly left cos he had not been paid !and he works for them, DO YOU WANT THAT JOB NOW? recently... ie just before christmas 2010, reps in at various dealers, pushing for bike orders, x2 south of england dealers place orders for minimum stock levels bought in by piaggio uk, ( so you meet min. requirements for a dealership) and said dealers get told SORRY you are no longer dealers for m-g. BOTH dealers now considering legal action against piaggio uk . there is a dealer in south london , with a big shiny shop, who has an aprillia,ktm,m-g,piaggio group scooters, agencies,( and trying for a ducati agency now) who it appears is funded directly from piaggio italy, who sells bikes at cost or just above, fails to do warranty work to any reasonable standard, who was put "ON STOP" by the finance company, who made a phone call to someone in italy, they then phoned piaggio uk and said ,take him off stop...and give him whatever he wants. HOW DO OTHER DEALERS COMPETE AGAINST THIS BLATANT FAVOURTISM . answer they cannot. ps i'll just go home now, and wait for the phone call tomorrow, telling me i'm no longer a dealer for them. they behave like a shower of shit.

[quote name='gstallons' date='14 February 2011 I will never come to grips with the MGS-01 that never came to be. you never got the mgs-01 in america? HA! I'VE RIDDEN X2 OF THEM! but then i'm in england.one was registered on the road, the other was a race bike....but we put the trade plate ( temporary workshop registation plate, you can put it on any m-cycle and ride it ....if the police stop you your answer is ...i'm on a test ride officer!)on and rode up to FRED WARRS ( h-d shop) to show it off, on slicks ....very fast indeed ( as long as it doesn't rain) -
!Update 10/15/11! Shifting still bad .Almost killed me !
theoneandonly replied to mznyc's topic in Technical Topics
have had similar problem with two bikes . first check pawl arm dia, that spring goes around, should be 15mm if it is 16mm... CHANGE IT . shifting problem....take off side plate and check that it is not OVER SHIFTING. if it is put some weld inside the shift hole (this limits movement of gear lever) you watch the roller/detent arm to see what is happening, and modify accordingly. -
drill x2 holes 4mm either side of housing at lower fixing of speedo/tacho . i do this at work and seems to cure them after a while

a friend of mine who is in the RAF Regiment ,and was based near Mildenham, had a story very similar ,but the pilots where flying so low down a stretch of road ,that they could set off the gatso camera.he being assistant to the c.o. got a letter and a visit from the local chief constable asking who the pilot was? his reply was.... f**k off this is covered by the official secrets act mate! -
James Blunt has a V11- WTF!
theoneandonly replied to Turpin Crock's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
yes, he had one ,it did live outside all the time,he owned whilst still in the army,he did do gigs on it,he did fall off it,it did get knocked over where he lived in hammersmith, yes, corsa did look after it (contrary to what a certain person in sw10 might say)yes, the record company said he couldn't ride anymore (protecting their investment) yes, he is actually a really nice, down to earth bloke,(like ewan mcgregor) just happens to have a job in the public eye. he walked in the door one day, just as his song came on the radio, never seen someone be quite as embarresed as he was. james may had a v11 (early green/red one) but havent seen him for some time, he also had a t3 cali, xjr 1300, and an old triumph. -

if you get your fat lazy arse to london, most of these will still be here! cos i tend to sip not guzzle them, the dalmore has been replaced by a nice big 1lt bottle now,(not yet opened)...you could always bring some haggi with you as well ?make your mind up,i may change this to a time limited offer!..this is directed at macguzzi(the ferrari fixer)
-
if you don't baldrick comes round for a "visit"and eats all your food! rides your bike, and drinks your tea/scotch.
-
ok as promised, some time ago!...a collection..currently in use, hence some not yet opened, not so popular one at the back, good ones to the front,NOT my friends bottles and mine together, just mine (they filled a small suitcase up,and put a smile on his face cos he had none in his house. ps to macguzzi ,you bring down x12 haggis ,nice and spicy ones,(from a butcher not tesco's) and i will let you roam free in my front room with a glass and all the bottles!
-
ok lets stir this up a bit! some of you are heathens! i am going to have to go to my friends house 125mls away(this may take a week or two) and get him to photograph my collection of bottles.(no bourbon in sight) as for the gun fetish? the biggest calibre possible for shooting americans is needed, are they really bred from buffalo's? cos they all seem to be a bit overweight? sorry people, no offence ment really, mine is a large one please.
-
funny? i thought that previous post would have got more replies?...maybe you are now giving your dealer a bit more leeway!
-
OH DEAR! we had one of these in the workshop.i used it twice, both times i took paint off the bike. i now use a normal paddock stand ( with innertube wrapped around the lifting plates) and a flat jack to go under the engine if i want the front wheel out...we have never bought any more of these stands...they are crap..there is no arguing about them...i GAVE it away .

hi, separate cable from t-bodies....does it still do it ? then separate linkage rod ,if problem is at t-b end.this way will give you diagnosis quickly.
-
yep, jason is one of the good guys, ask him how hard it is as a dealer.OR talk to jeff at colwyn bay for the other side of the story.
-
ok...i know you all seem to be in the USA but.....you should try being a m-g dealer. you get sod all back-up from the importer...with the exception of the odd very good member of staff....but most of the problems come from people at the factory. bikes dropped and then put into crates for shipping?what is that about? wheels not secured in the crate damaging the rest of the bike ....and then you put in a warranty claim with pictures (still in the crate i might add)...and then....they reject the claim....warranty parts that you order......and then take 3-4 months to arrive?....bikes that appear on the www.......before you as a dealer are even told about them?...bikes being available in europe 3-4 months before they appear in england....so punters go and buy them in holland....being promised that a bike WILL be delivered on tuesday....and it turns up....3 weeks later and then....the wrong colour.....and damaged to boot.....being promised (after many phone calls)that YES you will have your bikes before everyone else (cos you have deposits on 8..we ordered more!) then you are the last dealer to get any?....YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH GRIEF A DEALER GETS...FROM BOTH SIDES .and yes i am a dealer(holding a shitty stick at both ends).

a particular seller of moto guzzi parts.based in middlesex (but really london ) always seems to have them laid out on a m-g bag, in black with m-g logo in the middle ...actually a plastic bag.has some very sharp practice, like selling indicaters with no insides to them...or wanting $2000 usd for some "race pipes" for a h***a dominator.so if you ebay, just BEWARE,of this seller if this forum allows, contact me direct....this bloke really is a right royal w*****r.
