  1. As if the V11 LeMans wasn't long enough..... Does the world need a bike called "LeMans" with the 61.2-inch wheelbase of a Griso ??? I'm thinking the chassis specs of the MGS/01 would be a better deal for a sporting Guzzi...
  2. After putting 24k miles on my Sport 1100 with stock seat and bars, my LeMans Nero Corsa felt like a Cadillac. Still does after 10k miles. I could go for tubular bars or MPH risers, but I've ridden it all over the country in stock condition with several 800 mile days in the mix...
  3. trip odometer died on my '04 Nero Corsa at 10k miles. otherwise no problems. it's been a good bike. 12k miles now.
  4. Care to elaborate on that statement?
  5. 12,000 miles on my Nero Corsa.
  6. check these out: snowflake rotors on ebay more snowflake rotors on ebay another set and some from Galfer Looks like the market is around $200 a pair, used...
  7. Saddle soap, then LEXOL...
  8. The first ones, the World Supersport "Snowflake" rotors are really nice stainless rotors. A friend added these to his Ducati Monster and all I can say is "wow!" They have 6-hole mounting and 10mm offset and will fit our Guzzis. The second ones appear to be "narrow blade" and 5-hole mounting, no offset. I'm guessing they would work on the new 749/999/1098 series, but not our Guzzis (without modification)... The "Snowflake" rotors are getting cheaper and work really good. The gold anodised aluminium carrier would look great on a bike with Ohlins suspension...
  9. Ebay... Lots of Ducati Brembo take-offs. It's where I got the cast iron rotors for my Sport 1100... Ducati has used the same 320mm diameter rotors as Guzzi since the mid-90s on most of thier bikes... Search "Ducati Brake Rotors".
  10. To me, "strong" in this case would mean "aggressive" or "assertive"... A strong entry with a good apex will allow the exit to flow smoothly... At least that's what I've learned while at the track...
  11. It's important to enter the corner strong. The exit arranges itself.
  12. I'm not sure which one I'd sell if I had to sell one of my spineys. As similar as they are, they are very different. I've added H+B bags to my Nero Corsa to give it a touring advantage over the Sport 1100, although I've ridden them both all over the country... Lots of mission overlap between a Sport 1100 and a V11 Sport... What kind of riding do you do? If it's mainly short, sporting trips then the Sport 1100 would be fine. On the other hand, a set of Cortech Sport luggage and a tank bag, and you can stay gone on the Sport 1100 as long as your back and wrists can stand it. I got used to the seating position, though many complain about it. I've even still got the OEM clipons. I tried the Heli Bars, but didn't like them...
  13. You don't really think Buell was "responding to pressure" "domestic sportsbikes", do you ??? I mean, what kinda volume are they doing ??? Buell probably does more in a week than those do in a year... Buell is going superbike racing with the new bike. The cometition is from Japan and Italy, not the USA...
  14. Yeah Pete. If I remember '97/'98 Sporti's came with a 160/70-17 rear. The 18"er on the 96s and back does limit tire choice a bit. The cool thing is that the bikes handle great with the Metzeler Z6 Roadtec and they're good for 7k miles in normal riding if a short-lived sport tire isn't your cup-o-tea... When street riding, I shift my Sport like I would an old truck. I preload the shifter, slip the clutch, and use the throttle. I don't usually "bang gears". It's really not that much slower and it sounds really cool with the Staintunes... I guess I probably haven't used 5th gear much while I've had this bike. I intentionally used 5th a lot the other day to listen to it. No more noise than the other gears. A little bit of luck and Mobil 1, I suppose... I really don't ride it much anymore and occasionally think of selling it, but everytime I take it out on a twisty road I remember why I fell in love with the Sport 1100/Daytona series of bikes...
  15. anything is possible if you're prepared to do a little fabrication. I fabbed up a set of Supertrapp reverse-cone megaphones to my Sport 1100 for awhile. It took a little work and a couple trips to a tubing bender and a welder, but it worked for me until I could afford Staintunes...
  16. I have a 1996 model Sport 1100 that I've owned since new. Any specific questions, just ask away... 1st thing I can think of is tire choice. These bikes are kinda sensitive to tires. They like the pointy, quick-steering kind. I'm running Bridgestone BT-014 on mine and they are great, though short-lived. Metzeler's Z6 Roadtec or Pirelli's Diablo Strada would work if you're looking for a sport-touring tire. 2nd is that the seating position is kind of extreme. I've learned to use my legs to support my body so my arms don't get tired. It works. I've ridden mine all over the country with the OEM clipons and no troubles.

    Tub-o-Ohlins?

Seller says he's out of 1091 springs. I wanted a heavier spring for my Nero Corsa...
  18. My Sport 1100 was acting funny earlier this year and it turned out to be a poor connection on the negative side of the front battery... I still run two Yuasas in my 1996.

    V11 luggage

I've carried two passengers on my bike, a 5'-8", 125lbs woman and a 5'-0", 90lbs woman for many miles on my Nero Corsa. No complaints about the bags. Heels are all they'll get on the pegs. I guess that's why the shields are in place on the OEM and Staintune mufflers. Sorry, not pics...
  20. Just another good reason to keep a couple of tiedowns in your saddlebags... I use Pit Bull stands when at home...
  21. never a squeak or rattle on my Nero Corsa.
  22. Any vehicle will have failures. Enjoy your new bike. Don't read an internet forum specific to the new bike, or you'll worry about it, too... I rode my Nero Corsa from Virginia to Utah to Texas to Arkansas last September. 4500 miles over a couple of weeks. I was a long way from any kind of help for any brand on that ride and the Guzzi brought me safely home. You never had a failure on your Guzzi. I hope that's what you tell people who ask about your former machine...
  23. RacerX says he's dyno'd V11s both with, and without, front crossovers with no noticeable differences on the dyno... His latest project has been replacement headpipes without the crossover...
  24. Looking great! I really like those bags, though I have H+B bags on my Nero Corsa...
