  1. If I could afford more bikes right now, I'd be bidding on those beauties !!!
  2. Cool comparo. Thanks Greg!
  3. "Most" of Guzzi's races were wond prior to 1957, also. LeMans and Daytona are worthy names for the bikes to which they are applied...

    Warm Fuzzies?

All I can say is that on my ride last Saturday in a group of eight motorcycles, it was me and a Gixxer 600 up front in the tight twisty stuff. By far... And we weren't even pushing it too hard... The whole crewe was "surprised with the Guzzi". There were a 900SS, a Sprint ST, a Ballabio, an SV650S, and a couple other "fast bikes" in the group... On the street there are many more variables than what a spec sheet would have you believe... The Z6 Roadtec tires performed flawlessly on the Nero Corsa, BTW...
  5. How do you pronounce "pizza" ??? Therein lies your answer... "Peetsuh" "Gootsee" The two "Z"s make a "ts" sound...
  6. Most BMW dealers stock Metzelers and the Z6...
  7. RacerX headpipes > Stucci crossover > Staintune mufflers...
  8. Gilera = Jill-air-uh In Italian, the "Gi" always sounds like "J". Giacomo = JOCK-oh-mo Buon Giorno = Bon Jor-no etc, etc, etc...

    Warm Fuzzies?

Check the Sportbike Track Time shedule. Great bunch of folks. I did one of thiers at Barber's. Road America at Elkhart Lake, WI isn't too far... and Autobahn Country Club is near Joliet... http://www.sportbiketracktime.com/schedule_midwest2007.html
  10. I can see I need to post pix... Getting the grip off is no problem. It's the odd throttle sleeve that is different from what I'd call normal...
  11. So you've got a full Sport 1100 exhuast on a V11 LeMans ??? Interesting... I have a Staintune header/crossover for a Sport 1100 sitting on a shelf in my garage...
  12. 22 views and no responses. Has no one here changed out the OEM grips on a late model Sport / LeMans ?????

    Warm Fuzzies?

Get some good, sticky tires and take the bike to a trackday. You'll be able to learn the bike's abilities (and yours) in relative safety. Honestly, when I first got my Sport 1100 ten years ago I had trouble keeping up with others in the tight stuff. Now that I know the bike and what tires work for me, not many people can leave me in the tight twisties... Riding is mostly a head game. You're saying a lot when you say, "I just never felt confident".
  14. So I bought some Progrip gel grips for my Nero Corsa. I've used them on all my other Guzzis. I went to remove the OEM throttle grip and found out that the throttle sleeve and the grip are designed to go together. The throtle sleeve has all kinds of protrusions that interlock with the stock grip. I could cut all these protrusions off and install the Progrip, but I was wondering if any of you have replaced the throttle sleeve with a "standard" one. If you have, what model did you use??? I'm thinking of going to the local Jap superstore and trying to find a dirtbike throttle sleeve that will work...
  15. There is no seal around the outter rim of the gas cap. Only around the inner part that actually seals the fuel filler. I get dust and crap in mine, too. All of my Guzzis have collected stuff in the area around the actual filler hole under the gas cap... The fact that you park your bike outside exacerbates your problem.
  16. I think that was me. I didn't like the Pirelli Diablo Corsas on my Nero Corsa. It steered slow. Other people with Ballabios, Cafe Sports, etc. seem to like them. The only difference in the bikes is handlebars vs. clipons. I believe that the higher amount of leverage achieved with the tubular bars makes the Sports "steer quicker" than the LeMans-series bikes. I'm currently running the Z6 Roadtec and really like them. I may try the Diablo Strada next. I'm using the Nero Corsa for sport-touring, otherwise I'd be running something like a Bridgestone BT-014 or Michelin Pilot Power ... I really like the BT-014 on my Sport 1100, but they only last a couple thousand miles. As to the original poster, yes, it's amazing how much difference a new set of tires makes on a motorcycle !!!
  17. Oil on your lower triple clamp could also be from the steering damper. A "squishing" sound from your forks at low speed going over big bumps is not necesarily unusual.
  18. I use MOBIL 1. It's red...
  19. Yes, but the manual calls for 12000 miles or 2 years for the V11 Sport / LeMans...
  20. I've ridden in a couple of thunderstorms with the Z6. They performed great in standing water. I read somewhere last year that motorcycle tire manufacturers were doing away with center grooves on the rear because the front tire pushed all the water out of the way, anyway. I've run several different ST tires without center grooving on the rear with no problems... The front on the Z6 is grooved.
  21. Well, I reset 'em this morning to .10mm / .15mm and went for a 150 mile ride. Bike seems to run just fine. They were really tight (and quiet) when I first pulled the valve covers yesterday. Either they had tightened up a lot since the previous owner had them checked, or the dealer who serviced the bike set 'em to California specs. Either way, the bike actually feels a little different with the valves set at .10mm and .15mm, especially in the 5,000 rpm range...
  22. I've got to say that I, too, like the Z6 from Metzeler on my Nero Corsa. The relatively pointy rear gives good turn-in and the profile makes them very stable at full lean. I went with a 170/60-17 just to see how the bike would perform. I like it OK, but I think the next set I'll go back to 180/55-17. I'm on my second rear. The first one lasted more than 6000 miles. It flat-spotted in the center and the good steering characteristics went away. In all fairness, the tire was put on just before leaving on my 4,500 mile Virginia to Utah trip last September. At least 3,500 of those miles were flat, straight highway miles... The best sport-touring tire I've ever used on a spine-framed Guzzi isn't available anymore. It was the Pirelli Dragon GTS. I loved that tire !!! I highly recommend the Z6 for anyone with a V11 Sport / LeMans...
  23. 50 Nero Corsas imported to the USA from what I understand. A couple of them have been crashed, so the number is shrinking...
  24. Did you buy the one from Ferracci ???
  25. Thanks Pete! I guess I set the Nero a little loose. It does make that nice Guzzi tick-tick-tick sound now! I guess I'll reset it to .10mm / .15mm tomorrow... So what was the deal with them recommending .15 / .20 on the emmisions sticker ???
