Ratchethack, Sometimes a guy needs hardbags when he takes off on a little trip: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8941 The last overnight trip I took on my LeMans was 4,500 miles... I was glad to have the H+B bags for that...

Why don't you just PM Yaledriver? That's his bike. The bags and mounts are from a Ducati ST2. Some additional bracketing was made so they would work on the LeMans.

Don't hold your breath for a 1200 Sport in the USA. It's a stop-gap bike that we'll probably never see. You can put a bikini fairing and tubular bars on a Breva 1100, if that's the look you want. Hepco + Becker's bag mounts are available for the Breva and the Griso.

You'll find that your owners' manual recommends 5W-40 for the engine. During colder times of the year, it would probably be advisable to heed the 5W part of that. I use Mobil-1 synthetic in all my bikes. Mobil-1 75W-90 is in my trannys and bevel boxes.

Bump... Edge, are you back in-country ???

Turn signals are cheap at your nearest Buell dealership. Buy some nice tie downs. They are indespensible. Keep in mind that if you'd cracked the fairing or damaged the tank, those Ancra tiedowns wouldn't seem so expensive...

Don't know who this is. Ah, the wonder of YouTube...

If you spent more time over at ADVrider, you'd see that I'm there quite frequently... Search "Rocker59" next time you're there if you'd like to see some of my posts... I agree with you that bikes like these are becoming the new "all-arounders".

I've heard of people putting in the breather tube. I've also heard the check valve is a good idea, as Murray said. Tank is metal. I use a large magnetic Marsee tank bag. Yes. You saw a pic with a GiVi E50. I acquired an extra pillion seat. I bought a GiVi adapter plate and bolted it to the extra pillion seat. The bungee you see was just a safety I used because the pillion is only held down at two points. The lock at the front and the locating tab at the rear. I had a week's worth of gear in that bag. It worked great !!! I only used that setup a few times. If I were gonna make it a regular deal, I'd figure out a more secure mounting for the pillion pad and/or the GiVi plate. The GiVi adapter plate cost me something like $50. The extra pillion was free. I've used Cortech panniers, too. I borrowed them one time for a trip. Worked fine. The Sport's hips kind of get in the way, but the setup worked for a 1000 mile ride. Judging from the photos, you'll want to switch to a different tire once you get the bike home. Something with a more pointy profile. I'd recommend the Metzeler Z6 Roadtec for light handling and 8,000 mile service life. Bridgestone BT-014 if you want something real sticky and don't mind a 3,000 mile service life. I can provide more pics of the GiVi setup, if you like... Let me know...

Not much ADV in 'em. I'd go for Sporting Standard or Sport Touring. All the bikes you mentioned are, after all, street bikes...

Last time I checked Raptors & Rockets was not part of Moto Guzzi. This is a fantasy Photoshop bike based on an 8v Griso.

I'm with ya !!! Take a KTM 640 Adventure and put a Guzzi 750 driveline into it !!! What a great little adventure-tourer it would be !!! Keep in mind that what you're looking at is a Raptors and Rockets Photo-chop job with an 8v Griso as a starting point. That being said, I like it, too. It needs more front suspension tavel than what is shown in the R&R photo. The Multistrada S has 6.5-inches of travel in its Ohlins fork. That would probably get you by. More would be better. Most streetbikes have about 5-inches of front travel and that's not enough for riding fast on rough roads or gravel roads. My Quota can eat up some pot holes and washboard !!! It has 7.2-inches travel in its Marzocchi forks(180mm).

Jeebus folks, First the black speedo doubters, now the eagle doubters. You'd think no one around here had ever seen a Sport 1100 before. Every Sport 1100 I've ever seen had the left eagle facing rearwards. The right eagle facing forwards. My Sport:

USA Daytonas and Sport 1100s got the older black-faced Veglia clock (with 55 mph in red, even), and the newer white-faced tach. Parts bin engineering. I'm sure it was cheaper to just drop the older speedo into the Sport and Daytona at the time, or hey, maybe it was a styling element. Ol' Skool, baby! Both the Daytona and Sport were imported to the USA in very, VERY low numbers... Mine:

My Sport 1100 steers quite well with Bridgestone BT-014 tires. I dropped the Marzocchi 41.7 forks about 20mm years ago. Stock exhaust headers and sidestand would drag at the track. I put on a Staintune system and started removing the sidestand when at trackdays. No complaints since. I've never had any problems finding tires in the 160/60-18 size. Bridgestone, Metzeler, and Pirelli have good choices... My LeMans Nero Corsa steers great with Metzeler Z6 Roadtec tires. I've not messed with the ride height, yet.

I've had lots of good times on my Sport 1100... A 17" rear wheel would be nice. So, too, an Ohlins front end. However, the lack of those luxuries hasn't tarnished my love for this, the most beautiful Moto Guzzi...

Hepco + Becker mounts available from Eurotech: http://www.eurotechmotorsports.com/ Talk to Chris. You can find H+B bags on ebay and at Eurotech. The LeMans makes a nice sport-tourer: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8941

Hi Joe, Not many responses here, huh ? $5k is probably a fair price.

The V11 Sport/LeMans porkchops are wider at the bottom than the Daytona/Sport 1100 porkchops. Probably on the order of half an inch. The width difference is very noticeable when switching back and forth between the two machines.

That SW-Motech stuff at Twisted Throttle looks great. I like the gascap ring mounts...

OK... I took the Sport out for a little spin today. Something around 40 miles. There are some nice backroads leading South out of my neighhourhood. I decided to run down to this old place called Tatum Spring. People who live up in the hills and don't have reliable wells still get water from this spring. I wish I knew more about the story of the place, but I've been unable to find much out. It's an old farming community on the Middle Fork of the White River here in NW Arkansas. There is quite an infrastructure here, so the spring was a place of importance to the community... I pushed the bike out into the sun for a few minutes before firing it up... Nice curvy county roads. They're a little dirty right now. I tucked and slid the front end a couple times today even though I was taking it easy. I can't wait 'til Spring rains wash away the grime! It's only a quick 20-minutes to Tatum Spring. The water is coming out of a pool. The spring house can bee seen in the background. Tatum Spring is right on the highway. Many people probably drive by and never know about the place. It's always a cool place to stop in the summertime. After a short walk around the springs, I headed back for home. The sun is out today and the temp is around 50-degrees. A brisk breeze is blowing, making it seem cooler. Back home. It was a nice hour of stretching the Sport's legs.

I felt the same way a couple years ago when I rode my Sport 1100 at Barber's in Birmingham. I'd like to make a trackday at Laguna one of these days!

The Bonnie Blug Flag. "The first recorded use of the lone star flag dates to 1810. On September 11, 1810 a troop of West Florida dragoons set out for the provincial capitol at Baton Rouge under this flag. They were joined by other republican forces and captured Baton Rouge, imprisoned the Governor and on September 23, 1810 raised their Bonnie Blue flag over the Fort of Baton Rouge. Three days later the president of the West Florida Convention, signed a Declaration of Independence and the flag became the emblem of a new republic. By December 10, the flag of the United States replaced the Bonnie Blue after President Madison issued a proclamation declaring West Florida under the jurisdiction of the Governor of the Louisiana Territory. With this rebellion in mind, this flag was used by the Republic of Texas from 1836 to 1839. On January 9, 1861 the convention of the People of Mississippi adopted an Ordinance of Secession. With this announcement the Bonnie Blue flag was raised over the capitol building in Jackson. Harry McCarthy was so inspired that he wrote a song entitled "The Bonnie Blue Flag" which became the second most popular patriotic song of the Confederacy. The Confederate government did not adopt this flag but the people did and the lone star flags were adopted in some form in five of the southern States that adopted new flags in 1861." http://www.anyflag.com/history/bonnie.htm "Today, the flag is used to represent the South, and for some is a way of representing favor for the doctrine of states' rights. Since the flag pre-dates the Civil War and is not associated with slavery, it is considered to be a less-offensive alternative to the Confederate Battle Flag." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonnie_Blue_Flag
