Thanks for your responses, everyone. I guess a PowerCommander is in my future. I'm new to motorcycles with efi, but I guess I'll get used to it. My first impressions of the Nero Corsa are that it is being muzzled by the intake and exhaust. It seems kind of bottled up. My Sport 1100 has a K&N filter, Staintune full system and FCR41 carbs. It breathes quite freely and runs great. Even with it's taller gearing, my seat of the pants evaluation is that my Carb Sport has lots more grunt than my new Nero Corsa... I'm intending to do some sport-touring on the Nero Corsa, so the farther it can go on a tank, the better. 200 miles is a good number. I'm planning on taking it on an IBA Bun Burner 1500 this Spring...

I wouldn't use the canyon dancer. You'll have a very good chance of wrecking your hand controls if you do. DAMHIK. I use soft ties on the lower triple clamp, then a tiedown at an angle to the hooks in the floor. On the rear, I use soft ties in the passenger peg brackets, then tiedowns to the hooks in the floor. Did you get the Rosso Corsa thats been for sale in Tennessee by "TroutFish" ???

Tiered licensing in some countries. Some insurance companies grade on cc's. Alternative to a fully optioned 1100. (delete oil cooler and twin-spark ignition to save money). Etc, etc... FWIW, Buell's 984cc XB9 is the rev-happy little brother of the 1203cc XB12. Only difference in the motors is stroke dimension. Bore is the same. The XB9 revs faster and has it's redline set 700 rpm higher. Great fun!

Is anyone running the Stucchi crossover with the Staintune slipons??? I really like the Staintunes on my Sport 1100 and the Stucchi crossover seems to be the preferred option on eliminating the OEM V11 Sport/LeMans crossover. I've read through the exhaust thread, but didn't see this combo mentioned...

Got to check fuel economy on my Nero Corsa Friday. I was kinda shocked when the fuel light came on at about 109 miles. I filled up at about 119 miles. It used 3.7 gallons. Dang, thats only 32mpg !!! Granted, the machine only has about 2500 miles on it, but I wasn't really pushing it that hard on the ride. 32 mpg is exactly 10 fewer mpg than my FCR41 equipped Sport 1100 returns in exactly the same riding conditions !!! I thought my Quota was bad. It averages 38 mpg. Any thoughts, observations or comments from the cognoscenti ??? It looks like an auxillary fuel cell is in the Nero's future...

Believe it, or not, the LeMans feels like a Cadillac when compared to a Sport 1100. Sport 1100 bars are below the triple clamp. At least 2-inches lower than those on a Lemans. I'd like to have a Ballabio/Cafe Sport/Coppa Italia, but the Nero Corsa came along and stole my heart. A bike with regular bars, like the Ballabio, will definitely make a better all 'rounder...

State Farm charges me $242 every 6-months for full 50/100/50 coverage here in Arkansas. I love my Sport 1100. That Sporti looks like a good one. It depends on the type of riding you're going to do. If you're mainly gonna cruise around KC with your motorcycle, don't get the Sporti, the upright seating position of the Monsters will be better. The Sport 1100 is geared tall, has a stiff clutch, and has a very committed seating position On the other hand, if you're going to use it to ride South into the Ozarks for some weekend fun, or at the occaisional track day, the Sporti will be great fun. If you've ever sat on an old Ducati 748/916/998 then you have an idea of the seating position you'll find on a Sport 1100. I have owned my carb'd Sport 1100 since March 1997. I have ridden it to the AHRMA races in Park City, to the beach, lots of track days, and lots of Ozarks back roads. It has the most character of any bike I've ever owned. I had to learn to ride this motorcycle the way it wants to be ridden. Once I did that the payoff was huge. My Sport 1100 was great fun at Barber's in Birmingham!

I've used Pirelli Dragon GTS with good results on my 1996 Sport 1100. 6,000-7,000 miles tire life. Good rain performance and good sporting performance. The Bridgestone BT-014 that I have on it now has been the best sporting tire I've tried on it. The 2,000 mile life not so good. I forget about that when I'm at the track, though !!! My new Nero Corsa is wearing a brand new set of Pirelli Diablo Corsa tires. I doubt they'll last much longer than the Bridgestone BT-014s on my Sport 1100. When they're gone, I'm gonna try either a set of the Pirelli Dragon GTS or a set of the Metzeler Z6 Roadtech. I didn't like the Avon Azaro AV45/46 or the Metzeler ME-Z4 on my Sport 1100. While they were stable and performed great in the rain, the rounded profile really slowed the steering and turn-in characteristics of an already slow turning bike. My Sport 1100 likes "pointy" tires. I'm sure my new Nero Corsa does too... FWIW, everyone I know thats ridden the Pilot Power absolutely loves them. "Everyone" was running them when I attended a STT trackday at Barber's. I don't think they'll last long on the street, though...

The engine/transmission is heavy. The wheels are heavy. The exhaust is heavy. Nichols machine did a billet crank and flywheel a few years ago for the owner's Sport 1100. He told me he took something like 25lbs out of the reciprocating mass of the engine !!! My Sport 1100's OEM front wheel, sans brakes, weighs 14 lbs !!! The rear even more... I bet my Staintune exhaust is 20 lbs lighter than the OEM LaFranconis... IF you saved 25 lbs in the engine, 20 lbs with wheels and 20 lbs with exhaust, a Sport 1100 would weigh in the 420 lbs range instead of 485 lbs... That would be noticeable. $10k in mods, though, makes it a prohibitive venture... I really want PVM wheels for my Sport 1100. Just can't justify the $2,300. I still can't believe I spent $1k on carbs and $1500 on exhaust for the darn thing !!!

Northwest Arkansas/Ozark Plateau: Warmest January since 1923. Fourth warmest on record. Warmest was 1880. Overnight lows in the 40s F and days around 60 F. It rained a couple inches on Saturday. The most rain we've had since September. Most of the days have been sunny with blue skies. Unusual for January. I've ridden several times a week since New Year's Day.

Isolationism is a thing of the past. Hell, even China is casting it aside in favour of world trade. I'm sorry that this great economy we're in the midst of is not treating you well in Minnesota. Maybe you should consider moving down South. We're doing fine. Just fine. Northwest Arkansas, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina. Lots of opportunity and you can actually ride motorcycles year round !!!
