  1. "In addition to almost 15,000 aircraft, mosty fighters or bombers, Russia received over 400,000 motor vehicles, many being medium or heavy military trucks. American-built trucks and other vehicles made up 60 percent of the Soviet’s total vehicle fleet by 1945. In addition, America supplied 2,000 locomotives 11,000 freight cars and 540,000 tons of rail for Soviet railroads. Late in the war, Stalin did make some public statements praising the American aid received under Lend-Lease..." source: http://rwebs.net/dispatch/output.asp?ArticleID=56 America ain't so bad... Really its not...
  2. Lets see, USA have not yet disbanded congress, appointed GWB as President for life, taken land from our neighbours, rounded up Jews for "relocation" or started sinking merchant ships in the Atlantic with our subs. Get back with me when/if any of this comes to pass...
  3. Keihin FCR41. I have 'em on my Sport 1100 along with full Staintune exhaust. FCRs are flat slide racing carburetors. They are very popular with the Ducati crowd and the supermoto/dirtbike crowd. They improved power and driveability more than I could've hoped for. I've not dyno'd my Sport with the FCRs, but stock it put 76 to the ground. My seat of the pants feeling tells me both power and torque are up probably 10%.
  4. I call bullshit on that one. That is the funniest thing I've read all day !!! If the USA hadn't come to, and stayed in, Europe 60-years ago, you'd still be going at it...
  5. Sorry, man, looks like I might have been the guy who bought the Nero Corsa out from under you... FWIW, I really like your idea of a "Bronzo Corsa". That'll be one classy looking machine!!! I've seen a Coppa Italia with color-matched LeMans fairing and it, too, looked like a million bucks !!! Here I am with the Nero Corsa today. (I'm on the left). My intro thread: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7121
  6. Hi all ! Fairly new to this forum. Been lurking here awhile and only a few posts. I participate over at Wildguzzi and ADVrider with the same handle. I know many of you here do the same. Been riding Guzzis since 1997. I have a carb'd Sport 1100 and a Quota 1100 ES. My new-to-me Nero Corsa is what has brought me to this forum. A friend of mine has had this bike for sale for a while now. Yep, its the one that was listed here in the classifieds. I even tried to talk a couple of friends into buying it, but with no luck. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. I had to have it... Picked up the Nero Corsa today. Rode down 16 and 23 two-up, with Brian, on my Quota to Pauls house near Ozark, AR. Dragged the hell out of the centerstand on Hwy 23 !!! Met Paul, the owner of the Corsa, and his friend Marv about 1pm. Rode North on Hwy 23 to Turner's Bend Store for some sandwiches. (The reason I hauled Brian down on pillion was so he could ferry my Quota back home for me. What are friends for? I bought him a sammitch !!!). Met, "Eeyore", a guy I know from ADVrider, at Turner's Bend. He was sitting on the front porch having a smoke and passing the time. It was a great day today! Here are a couple of Pics of Paul, and I, just before leaving the store. Paul is wearing his old CLASS leathers. I had to take mine off. It was warm in the sun! From Turner's Bend we said goodbye to Eeyore and headed North to Huntsville. Brian, and I, then headed back to Fayetteville via Hwy 74, Hwy 295 and Hwy 45. Paul and Marv returned back to Ozark on Hwy 23. What about my new baby ??? WOW !!! What an improvement over my Sport 1100. The six-speed tranny is nice. Lower overall gearing than my Sport is nice. The seating position is comfy. And, the Ohlins absolutely rocks I'm really gonna like this Nero Corsa !!!
  7. The Nero Corsa is a beautiful machine. It is also the same as a Rosso Corsa. Have you considered buying a Rosso Corsa? There is a nice, low-mileage example in the classifieds.

BMW gave full factory support to the Long Way 'Round miniseries. I doubt Aprilia and Guzzi would have been willing/able to provide what BMW provided to the effort. Too bad. It could've been great advertising for Mandelo...
  9. I ran the AV45/46 combo on my Sport 1100 for about 3000 miles. I took them off because they really mucked up the handling. First off, the profile is really round, especially the rear. SLOW steering was a result, which is already a problem on Spineframe bikes. Second, the only time I've had rear traction problems on my Guzzi was with the Avons fitted. I had a couple of instances in somewhat damp conditions where the rear end came around unexpectedly. Luckily, no crash, but the experience was not fun! Third, the Avons suck at the track on a Spineframe Guzzi. They are slow on turn-in and once leaned over, the bike becomes very twitchy... On a positive note, They performed very well at high speeds in straight lines on the interstate in heavy rain. Faint praise for a tire to be fitted to a sportsbike. They will probably last 10,000 miles but unless you're strictly in touring mode, I wouldn't waste my money on them. For a tire with relatively high mileage, try the Metzeler Z6 Roadtec or the Pirelli Dragon GTS (if you can find a set). For more sporty use, I've been very happy with the Bridgeston BT-014, especially at the track! Downside is 1500-2000 mile life...
